Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

But the best news is........I think the scale was having a case of mistaken weighing when it said I gained weight last week, because when I weighed Sunday, I was down 11.3 lbs from May 18th! :yay: I can see it too; I have ankles again. Have to shoot for that 3 miles today, even if I'm worn out, I think.
:cool1:

I was getting ready to leave this morning and a delivery van arrived with a lovely arrangement of red roses for me! They are from my DH.

I wanted to share this local story if you haven’t seen it. Sad, but happy, too. Swan couple had babies, but mother died for unknown reasons. (Necropsy negative.) Swan Dad has stepped up and become a fantastic caregiver. So sweet to see!

Glad your DH got out of Jury Duty, Carol!

That weather sounds awful and swampy (like my memories of visiting relatives in Houston) Easyas, yuck. Stay cool!

Footballmouse, I think it’s sweet that you provide snacks for your DS and his team. I hope they do well tonight.

Aw, what a nice surprise from your DH, Kirby!

Go Swan Dad! Thank you for sharing, Pea. I hope you’re having a good day :)

QOTD: When twins were young, I would sometimes give them a snack while grocery shopping so I could think straight. One day I gave them some sour cream and onion potato chips. DD was quite intrigued, as it was the first time she’d had them. When we got out to the car, she said, “Mama, I like those chips with the grass on them!”

My father used to tell the story of when my brother was little, he said, “When I heard about athlete’s foot I wish I had one”, lol.

Fun question! :goodvibes

I was thinking of you guys last night in the grocery store - getting my fruit. (And also thinking about the recent “grapes” thread if you’ve seen it re touching and tasting grapes in the store.) DH had already grabbed his bag of cherries and went on his way (we divide and conquer so we each had a cart and shop different parts of the store, but he grabbed them as he was going by because, as I said, he loves cherries!). So I was stuck in produce for a while.

I watched a lady with the cherries, like a bad out of heck, she stuck her bare hands in each bag feeling the cherries, then she started moving cherries from bag to bag until she had two enormous bags of her liking, leaving quite a mess of the rest of the bags and loose cherries all over the place. (Which workers will no doubt put back in the bags.) She then got a big produce bag, put her two big cherry bags in there, and continued her shopping. Not even a minute later, a kid of I’d say about 18 or 19 went over to the cherries, grabbed a handful of them and stuffed a bunch in his mouth until he had - no kidding - red stains all around his mouth :rotfl2:while looking around to see if anyone was watching afterward. I just kind of chuckled and smh. But I told DH later to make sure you wash those cherries! 😅

To be honest, my point count is a little over today............
When I read that, I thought to myself, whoa, mine is too! But then I realized you weren’t talking about those kind of points! :rolleyes1 😂

Weather here yesterday was a scorcher, too. Pool water was a perfect temp, DS and his girlfriend went in. I might go in today for a while, I hate to go in after just taking a shower. I hope it cools down a bit but it looks like it’s going to keep up pretty much for the next few days.

The cicada's are terribly loud today..and I thought they were bad yesterday. Hopefully only 2 more weeks and they will be gone. Got grocery shopping done. Aldi's was pretty empty of customers, Walmart wasn't too bad, got to a register with my favorite cashier and only 1 person in front of me. It's sticky and 83 outside..if it's going to rain I wish it would rain. I had to buy one more tomato plant to fill in the bare spot where a bad bird ate the plant. Never had that happen before but the guy at the plant place said a lot of people are complaining about it this year. I say eat the darn cicada's. Didn't get much sleep last nite, going to lay down for awhile. Dinner is going to be seafood salad over a tossed salad I think. They say tomorrow will be in the 70's and Friday only 66!

DS comes through again.

Nice! See - having kids has paid off! :P

Beautiful - what a nice surprise!

So sweet to see

Cool- we have swans around here but sometimes I can't tell the difference between ours and the Canadiens in the field! I never notice them swimming around much though -

We ended up getting a bit of rain. No thunderstorms but I guess you can't get everything! Higher hopes for the next day or so.

Dinner this evening was spinach ravioli, haven't had that in a while and it hit the spot.

Feeling a bit anxious - taking one of the dogs to the vet in the AM for a exam & a few shots. He's bit people before - not at the vet, but there is a first time for everything and that is what has me uptight! I worry about his reaction ...we have a basket muzzle but it truly seems to make him wayyyy more uptight. Fingers crossed, he needs to see the vet but I worry about him be reactionary.

We went to the Deer Park Tavern for dinner. Very nice. I had salmon and DH had crab. We even had fancy ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Both kids called for his birthday. Now I am settled in for the season finale of A Million Little Things.

Nice! See - having kids has paid off! :P
Exactly! That and White House tours.

Just put the new sheets on the bed....really looking forward to going to bed! I love new crisp sheets!

It was really hot and humid today. Maybe a small cool down tomorrow :confused3

Vent-- scam artists are getting worse everyday, it makes me so angry especially when they prey on the disabled. I almost fell for it, and I was frustrated because I almost ignored the red flags. Disgusting!! How they dare they go after my sweet niece who would give the shirt off her back.

Good luck at the vet’s tomorrow, @easyas123. Is there anything they can prescribe him for visits, just to take the edge off? (Like a little valium?) Or do you have a vet that will come to the house? 🤞🏻for you.

Those cookies look good, @PollyannaMom!

@Kirby that was nice of your husband, flowers are lovely.

@dazedx3, I have no patience for scammers, either. Not nice people.

We made this for dinner. It was tasty. Pretty healthy with no meat and lots of veggies. Had a lot for leftovers/work.

Recipe: Fresh and Easy Veggie Spaghetti

https://www.inspiredtaste.net/38662/veggie-spaghetti-recipe/

Next time we will add fresh mushrooms, too! (And we didn’t have mushroom powder this time.)
That looks so good! Did you follow the recipe or if you added your own tweaks, what did you do?

Dinner tonight was tacos, I turned mine into a salad and left off the tortilla.

Pretty much followed the recipe except for the mushroom powder (which we didn’t have), and added extra garlic, and Parmesan cheese to top. Next time I’ll put in fresh mushrooms because we like them, and probably asparagus. DD thought chicken would be good with it, but I’m getting a little tired of chicken and I thought it was good with just the vegetables for a change.

Good morning all. @Pea-n-Me,,you were on here very early, or very late, depending! Hope all is okay with you, it's unusual to see you on that late, or that early!

Rained some overnite, calling for rain and storms today and tomorrow as a 'cold front' moves through. Now we have a flash flood watch saying we could get 2-4" of rain in a short time , from noontime today till midnite tonite. The cicada's started making noise very early this morning. I didn't wake up till 4:45 which is very late for me, but didn't get much sleep Tuesday nite, and woke up several times during the night just to make sure hubby was okay. We were in bed before 9:30. He got up around 12:30 and stayed up till 1:30, then slept till almost 5, unusual for him also!

No plans for the day, other than catching up on sleep, and some shows.

Garden is looking good, the rain helped it a lot. My poor little plants are starting to grow.

Have a nice morning--stay dry and cool!

Thanks! They won’t give him anything because, while we’ve brought him in for his routine shots over the past 2 years, he hasn’t had a proper exam by a vet in that time…because, well I was worried he’d be a wacky doodle! I think they will have to give him something I just hope they’ll do it at the moment- not send us home saying we have to come back and then they’ll sedate him.
I actually have a different vet I know of who will do house calls and comes to a friends house to vet her cats. Ladd is very protective of the house though- both bites have been just outside the house-so that is my next step if today doesn’t go well.
Fingers crossed!

First, :welcome: to Footballmouse!

Just a quick drive-by posting while waiting for Costco to open. Thankfully our humidity has broken - it will still be hot today, around 86, they say, but the humidity is much lower. Yesterday we had such a whirlwind of activity - Josh had his morning meeting, and it made me a little sad that that was the last time I got to see his teacher :( Then he had to do his assignments because I had to wipe out his iPad in order to return it today. His writing assignment never appeared, so oh well...I can probably still check for it on my laptop, but Teams doesn't work properly on the laptop as it does on the iPad.

Along with his iPad, he wanted to take in his gifts today, so I had to get them wrapped and bagged. Hopefully he doesn't leave them on the bus. He's excited and wanted to give them out early. I had to remind him that they most likely won't open them right away, in front of the class, and he says that's okay :)

No baseball practice last night because of thunderstorms, but we were surprised to get a text that they are doing professional photos after all. So we have to be 30 minutes early for his game on Saturday. It's such a racket, though...$50 for a sheet of 4 3"x5"s, a team photo, and the digital image (which I want so I can print my own photos later, or add it to a Shutterfly book, etc.). Oh, but he also gets an 8"x10" calendar with his photo on it for "free"...whoopee... (although when I got that with his soccer photos, I did put it up on the fridge for the year AND referred to it often ;) )

QOTD: funny story told to you by a young child
I probably have many, but the one I can think of offhand was told to his teacher recently, but about me...

During one of his morning meetings, he had made a list of his to-dos for the day and was sharing it with his class. I was sitting next to him, of course. So he's reading it off..."I get up, watch TV, have breakfast, get dressed, then morning meeting, then snack, then I yell at my mom, then lunch..." And I interrupted, "Wait, did you say 'yell at my mom'?" He just smiled sweetly and showed me the list. I laughed, the teacher laughed, the other kids laughed, the teacher's helper covered her mouth like she was trying to cover up her laugh...it was truly funny. He just said it so matter-of-factly, which was the funny part ;)

I may have shared that story before, but it was funny.

Morning everyone.

Been popping in but not really had much to say.

Anthony saw the orthopedist and he has a fracture in the growth plate and a small chip. He's in a boot for 6-8 weeks and is just miserable. I feel so bad for him. It's not just his summer but baseball that he is missing. He lives for baseball and to not be able to play is a fate worse than death to him.

The kids are done school for the summer which means I can sleep in once in awhile.

@Pea-n-Me That spaghetti looks really good but my husband would never eat it. I used spaghetti squash one time and he asked for a hot dog. He is not a huge vegie fan. I have broadened his tastes over the years but there is so much I can do. He tolerates that I put mushrooms in everything so I will live with that.

@easyas123 I hope the vet does something to help you out with the dog. Both of my daughters have dogs with fear aggression. Link is a Black Lab mix and a sweetheart but he bites when scared. He had cancer last year and that meant vet visits without my daughter being allowed in the office. The vet they went to was amazing and not only did she save his life he loves her now. Mu other daughter is having a real issue with the vet's office. Her Murph is a 100 lb German Shepherd and has fear aggression also. They usually sedate him and muzzle him before he is allowed in the building. The office doesn't make appointments but Murph is an exception. Because of the pandemic there must have been a turn around of personnel in the office and she has been fighting with them for a month trying to get him in for an appointment. Both dogs are real sweethearts when they know you know but they can both inflict some real damage if they don't.

QOTD - My grandkids have probably told me some great stories over the years but I can't remember them. Jay did tell us he couldn't go home with us on while we were in Disney for his 1st visit. He said that was his new home. He wouldn't even talk to his mother on the phone. Now funny stories about kids I have a few mostly with my Benny. He was a bit of a streaker when he was a little younger. My daughter got a phone call one day and her friend asked if she checked her security camera lately. Ben decided to go visit a friend on the block - a little girl. He left the house looking around as he did so. Ran to the girls house and no one answered the door. So he came back home still looking around. He didn't have a stitch of clothes on. All caught on video.

My daughter called while I was typing this up. My grandson Wyatt lost his first tooth last night. He was so excited because the tooth fairy will come and leave him money. My Benny looked at him and said "there's no tooth fairy, Mom leaves the money." Benny is 6 and we have never given him any reason to think that. My daughter asked him what would make him think that there's no tooth fairy, of course there is. Ben replied no one told him he just knows that there is no tooth fairy. My poor daughter had to sneak into their room to leave money and take the tooth all the while keeping an eye on Ben. We wouldn't put it past him to try and record her in the act with his IPad. That boy is something else.

I also got a call from my mother to let me know that we have suspended food distribution indefinitely. I understand the reasoning. Honestly I had to agree. Last year there was a tremendous need. With the pandemic getting better we are not serving people as we had, the need isn't as great. We will wait until the fall and reevaluate things then. I am happy that we were able to serve the community the way we did when the need was at the greatest.

Now that I have my days back I can start planning some day trips here and there.

The weather is a bit cooler today so that is a nice thing. Hope everyone has a good day
