I have been in shock for not quite 12 hours after hearing that the sister of my former (deceseased in 2013) Pastor's Wife passed away from Covid yesterday. She was doing so well and was even released to a regular room and taken off the vent so her older (in her 20's) daughter was able to visit her on Sunday and again on Monday. They were bringingher out of the sedation as well. Her younger just turned 12 year old daughter was not able to visit unless for some miracle because they realized she wouldn't make it older sister and pastor's wife who the sister and her daughter lived with were able to get permission to bring her to the hospital to say goodbye.
The 12 year old was adopted as a single parent adoption and right now I do not know what the plans are for her if she will staying living with former Pastor's wife as she and her mom have done since late 2019, move back in with another one of the sister's and her family that they lived with from around the time she was 4-5 years old and her mom started loosing her vision to the diabetes which later took her kidney's, or if older sister who is in her mid to late 20's and her husband will be raising her. Either way it is going to be quite an adjustment for this sweet girl.

DazedX3, ink is crazy expensive indeed. I also like Marshalls. Enjoy your peonies.

How very sad, Sweetpeama. Keeping the young girl in prayer. Hug, and of course, I am sorry for your own loss!

Lighter note, the socks are still not completely dry. Unbelievable. We will be donating them a long with some books.

So grateful to God right now Dad is safely home for the day :)

Wishing all of you a good rest of the afternoon and evening.

QOTD: what is your favorite summer fruit ?
I think that it would be cantaloupe, followed by watermelon and honeydew.

I have followed WW for years. Even though I am still at goal, I am creeping up and need to get back on track for DNiece's wedding in September. Maybe we can be support for each other, And DD follows too. She's lost more that 25 pounds of post baby weight since January, also for the wedding.
It might be fun to check in with each other to see how we are doing. I haven't ever had a lot of luck with dieting, maybe I will this time.

I'm reading this, not everyone's cup of tea I know, but I find the subject somewhat fascinating which I guess is odd coming from a person who does participate in a religious life.

I read a lot of different genres, I used to read books like that when I was young but they don't appeal to me anymore. I'm currently reading King's Cage, book 3 of the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard. It's genre is young adult fantasy.

I broke down and bought a pineapple cutter/corer tool when they were on sale at WW, similar to this one. Game changer. So much easier and quicker.
That looked so easy to use that I ordered one.

First tomato is on in the garden, so the official 2021 Tomato Watch is on!
When I first read that I thought you said "Tornado". I wondered what that had to do with tomatoes. :rotfl2:

I would appreciate prayers that I continue in all ways of course to look towards and listen to God's call including with checking out other church options.

Dad-related, please do keep him in extra prayer this week. Thank you, my friends.
Will do!

I had a doctor appt. first off and she said I'm still good, no sign of the cancer recurring!!!!
Fantastic!

@footballmouse, welcome!!! :welcome:

After a little rain this morning, there is no more rain in the forecast for the next week. Highs in the high 80's/low 90's and lows in the 70's. It will give us a chance to finally dry out. Mosquitos are bad though, don't see that changing for awhile.

Took GK's to the dentist for their cleaning and x-rays. DD had professional development she couldn't get out of. Both did well but Lil Joe has two cavities.

Dinner tonight is pulled pork and roasted red potatoes. With WW measurements I'm sure I'll be adding some 0 point fruit/vegetables to the mix.

QOTD: funny story told to you by a young child

so many of you have kids, grandkids, or work with some at a church.

my 5 year old niece loves when i call just to talk to her ( and not her mama). So the other evening she was eating green beans and asked me if i liked potatoes . I said ,” yeah, i like them baked and mashed”. She starts laughing hysterically and saying ohh gross. Her mom then got on the phone and said she asked if you like....cicada. She lives where MD, WV, and Virginia meet and they have very noisy cicadas this year.

QOTD: funny story told to you by a young child
This is not a funny story but I used to teach 1st and 2nd grade in Sunday School. At the church I attended, most of the kid's parents were people I had know all my life so they were pretty comfortable about me. So one day in SS, one little girl began telling me about the holes in her dad's underwear. You never know what a little kid is going to talk about.

Hot and humid here this week, and it's wreaking havoc on my walking. I've managed barely 2 miles a day this week on the walks, and I come home soaked in sweat, hot and exhausted. This is the worst time of the year to live in Florida, I think. LOL But the best news is........I think the scale was having a case of mistaken weighing when it said I gained weight last week, because when I weighed Sunday, I was down 11.3 lbs from May 18th! :yay: I can see it too; I have ankles again. Have to shoot for that 3 miles today, even if I'm worn out, I think.

DD#2 arrives Thursday night; they are staying at the hotel at MCU, and I'm going to pick them up Friday morning. I can't drive at night very well at all (night blindness), so this is the better option. I only drive in the dark if I absolutely have to. We have to stop at the new Buc-ee's near World Golf Village on the way home, so I can see what all the fuss is about, lol.

QOTD: fruit...I love cherries. I'm so picky about them though, I like them firmer, not super ripe. Grapes...I like the green ones, but the red ones will do too. Honeydew, cantalope, watermelon...all great. We found a couple new to us melons that we really like...Summers Kiss and Lemon Kiss. The first tastes like intense cantalope, and the second is a bit tart and lemony. Not a fan of peaches...I love the flavor and scent, but it's a texture thing. I'll eat a good strawberry shortcake, but I'm not super fond of strawberries; a blueberry muffin is good, but not fresh ones. Raspberries and blackberries are my least favorites.

QOTD: When DD#2 was about 2-1/2 years old, she went to the park with DH. She went up to him, arms out, one hand palm up, the other backside up; and cried "daddy, look! My hands don't match!". She then turned both hands over so the palm up one was now backside up, and vice versa, then flipped them over and over like that. He thought it was the funniest thing ever. She was really distraught, until he showed her how to put them both palm or back up at the same time.

Thoughts and (((huggles))) to those who want or need them. It's 2:30ish am here, and I just can't sleep, but I'm too tired to type anymore. Goodnight.

Good morning all. Very muggy out at 73 degrees, but our high today will only be low 80's. Friday will be a high of 66,,I can't wait. We need a little break from the heat. Going to do grocery shopping this morning in case we get the 'maybe' thunderstorms later today. Calling for them for tomorrow, Friday , and Saturday too.

I had to LOL at the 'kids funny stories', but at the moment I can't think of any. Too tired to see straight. We had a small emergency here after midnite, and I didn't fall asleep again until 3:20 and woke up at 4:25, so need more sleep.
Have a nice morning all

Kiwi. I forgot about that fruit. I read somewhere they have more potassium than a banana. I like to cut one up and mix it with a nectarine or strawberries

has anyone read , “ the secret life of bees ?” Or “Ethan frome”. They are on the summer reading list at a local high school , so i thought they would be my next books to enjoy

QOTD: funny story told to you by a young child

recently my SIL sent me a video of my 4 year old niece she had taken...it would seem niece had snuck out to the garden to have a go at the basil. AGAIN. She keeps sneaking out to eat the basil! On the video she told her mother she couldn't help it "it's just so basily and yummy"! The day before school called my SIL to report that niece had been seen eating grass and plants on the playground:D so yeah, now when anything is really good we've taken to referring to it as "so basily, so yummy"!

I've managed barely 2 miles a day this week on the walks,

That's awesome! And it's also 2 miles more than me! I did manage to sign up for some yoga classes, they start next week.

the secret life of bees

I've read this (and seen the movie) it is a WONDERFUL book!

Well good morning everyone. All is well and quiet in my neck of the woods. Not much to report. Hope all is well from last night Lynxstch, let us know if you need anything.

Dinner this evening will be some meatballs w/ spinach & ricotta ravioli. I'll make enough to have meatball sandwiches for dinner tomorrow night.

Shed seems to be a tentative hit with the dogs. Duke, our great dane is extremely timid, but I went in and sat down in the shed and he finally decided he'd come in me and see what I was doing! He walked in, then right out - but for him that's a big win. Other dog will go anywhere and do anything so he was unimpressed!

Have a good morning everyone -

Good morning.

Hot and muggy and the cicadas are really screaming. I tried to go out and weed some in my garden but it is in the sun in the morning and just too hot.

We had a little rain last night but not as much as Conowingo where a friend of mine lives. She's about 40 minutes away and had waves in her driveway. Her entire, large garden was washed out. People and house are all ok though. And I've read the West Chester, PA, about an hour away, had it even worse.

Today is DH's birthday. He had wanted to go out for breakfast but had to report for jury duty. We will go out for dinner though.

I read it but it's been a while ago. I did like it.

Not hot here,,only 72, and the bugs are somewhat quieter..for now. Calling for rain maybe later, but we had nothing last nite. :( to your friends garden, that is sad. I put down landscape fabric under my plants, and cut X's in them and plant in the X's. Cuts down on weeding. I leave enough space between the rows to run the tiller every couple of weeks.

Happy birthday to your husband. Sorry he had jury duty, maybe they will get out early!

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday :)

Overcast with a dash of sun coming through here right now. It is supposed to warm up. Hugs and encouragement to all trying to lose weight. Happy Birthday to your DH, Carol, too :)

QOTD: funny story told to you by a young child: Many years ago one of my preschoolers was "cooking" up a storm in the sandbox. What was the young chef making? "Cookoli!" She never did explain just what "cookoli" was but the smile that lit her face as she prepared it was precious to stay with me all this time later. More recently, another preschooler could regale you with such funny tales of her adventures with her cousin! She would weave real experiences with creative ones! She absolutely could have been an author! Maybe by now (yikes she would be 18 now) is :)

On and off rain today :( . I don't like days like this b/c I don't want to chance going for a walk and getting caught in the rain. So now I'm just working and watching an old season of Amazing Race. I love that show, thanks to Amazon Video, I've probably seen each season 4 times.

Making the ever glamorous ham and macc & cheese for dinner tonight. Headed to my son's indoor soccer game later tonight. He's 27 and I still try to go to as many of his games that I can. The other week I brought snacks and drinks for his team :). They all thought it was hilarious, they definitely ate their share.

Bianca & Bernard - congrats on the big weight loss!!!
