Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I have read some books where Plimoth Planation along with fictitious accounts of a similar sounding place are mentioned! Definitely sounds like a fun and educational stop in MA to check out.

I just stopped back quickly and am glad to see new posts including one from you, Apirateslifeforme! I love your Tara story! Thank you for sharing that. I do hope Josh has safe fun this summer and that you, do, as well, my friend.

Taz Dev, love your advice on kids and sports, you are so right on!

Great Boston info, PollyannaMom. I'm not able to travel but enjoyed reading it all. I look forward to your trip report, Easyas.

Today's QOTD is Josh-inspired! What is the best ice cream flavor? Years ago there was a local-ish ice cream place called Swensen's. They had the most amazing Sticky Chewy Chocolate ice cream. It was not at all chewy, definitely sticky, but oh so delicious! My other delightful chocolate flavor memories were of Marble Slab Creamery's Chocolate Mint. This was chocolate ice cream with a touch of mint flavor, so good. Finally, just once a family owned ice cream parlor (sadly long out of business now) had Peppermint Chocolate---amazing. I am not all that a mint fan, though as a kid, I loved Thrifty's Mint and Chip because it was both green in color and the chips were flecks rather than hard chips without much flavor. In more recent times, Breyers used to make a tasty Extra Creamy Chocolate. In one Boxcar Children Book (I still have) Benny, enjoys Mackinac island fudge which is described as vanilla ice cream with pieces of fudge in it, now that sounds good! For me would need to be like a fudgy ribbon instead of pieces. How about all of you?

It is hot and noisy outside..the cicada's are louder than I have ever heard them. We have the windows closed and the ac on, and you can still hear them. Went down to CVS and picked up hubby's 9 scrips for the next 3 months..so that is done with. Dinner is going to be chili dogs, coleslaw, and Nathans fries. Have a nice Friday afternoon and evening everyone. I am pretty tired and might not get back on the computer later.

I still have a half a DVR full of stuff I was interested enough in recording, but can't get interested enough in actually watching!

I do that too!

Such a hard question!! My favorite ice cream flavor changes with my mood!

My "GoTos" at ice cream stands are probably:
hard scooped - chocolate peanut butter cup or Almond Joy,
soft serve - There's one place near me that does a coffee chocolate twist!

My favorite grocery kind is an Edy's that isn't always available here. - It's called Swiss Orange, and is orange sherbet with chocolate chips!

And my favorite "ice cream flavor memory" is a place when I was a kid that had black raspberry soft serve!

Turkey Hill brand is a lot like that!

@Kirby--hope your arm and shoulder are better today or soon!
Thank you! It's a lot better today!

It's looking like work travel (yay, yay & YAY for that making a comeback!) will likely take me to Boston near the end of August. I'm thinking of either extending my stay by a few days and putzing around the city or taking a bit of a car ride up the coast. Always wanted to see some of the historical sites up that way. I know I'm staying at a area that is in the Wharf area/city waterfront. Anyone familiar with Boston and know if that is a good base for a walkable trip around the areas one may want to walk to in Boston? I think I'm going to order a travel guide.
DS and I were supposed to go to Boston last year. He had the trip all planned out. A day or two at the Brimfield Antique and Flea Market, then a couple of days in Boston. We were going to stay in a VRBO on Nahant with an ocean view.

I was thinking to myself earlier today that I would like a book or two to read this weekend. I have a Kindle, but you know there is just something about a real, physical book.
I feel the same way about a book, there is something just about holding a book, the way it feels and smells.

My favorite is lime sherbet. In my younger years I liked Braums Butter Brickle.

Swiss Orange sounds great! There is a peach orchard not far from us and they have peach and strawberry soft serve. I always get the peach/strawberry blend.

It has looked like rain all day but not a drop so far. We are collecting groceries for 25 families at church to be given out at the end of this month. I took some up to church to put in a box outside but there was no one there to take them in and with the chance of rain, I just brought them home. I guess I'll take them up next week.

Dinner tonight will be at church with the Empty Nesters group. This will be our first get together in over a year.

I think that DD has found an attorney that she likes. He called her earlier today to touch base and is supposed to call her later this afternoon.

Okay, besides donuts we must include ice cream during our eventual Quacker meet! :D

PollyannaMom, out here Edy's is aka Dreyers. There are many more Dreyers options but I think they are the same company. Definitely local, smaller shops, are the best!

Sounds like awfully tasty chocolate chip., Bobbiwoz! I'm so glad you found a way to still enjoy it.

So glad you are feeling better, Kirby! :)

I'm sorry about the bugs in general and their racket, Lynn :( I do hope you enjoy your dinner!

QOTD-- My go to favorite is Turkey Hill Chocolate Marshmallow. At the holiday they have their 'Box of Chocolates' flavor and I love that too. Once in awhile I go for Butter Pecan. I am not a vanilla anything lover--if we go to DQ for Blizzards, I get the choco covered cherry, but it must be made with chocolate ice cream. My all time favorite was Ben and Jerry's Dastardly Mash, but they stopped making it :(

ICE CREAM

hmmm, well as someone mentioned above, it kinda depends on my mood. My go to at home is chocolate ice cream, and I put crushed peanuts on it. As far as brands, my favorite commercial ice cream is Yuengling and up until about a year ago they sold it in my area, but I've not been able to find it:( so now I go with Blue Bunny, although for the splurge I get Ben & Jerry's Pineapple Coconut for my husband, and Karamel Sutra for me. We do have the luck to have a few really good dairy's in the "area", one of which is called Vanderwenes in the Bridgeville, De area. And the Scottish Highland Dairy in Oxford, MD and as I think Breezy Carol has mentioned - the dairy at the University of Delaware has a cult-like following and it highly regarded, as is Kilby Creamery in the Elkton or Rising Sun, MD area.... I used to get their milk in the glass bottles all the time when the kids were little.

I did buy a box of the Mickey bars a while ago, haven't touched them yet. Soon though!

Youngest just stopped in, evidently for the weekend! He & his brother are going night fishing tonight. Then fishing tomorrow...then probably night fishing again. Oh to be young-He brought a big box of fruits & vegetables over from his girlfriend her her Mother, which was beyond thoughtful of them. I haven't met the Mother yet, although we have had the pleasure of meeting the girlfriend once. Her Mother doesn't speak English very well so I am going to have to try to learn some words in her native tongue before we meet. Anyway, looks like I'm going to be making coleslaw tomorrow with the giant head of cabbage!

I just Googled Turkey Hill! I remembered that name from our previous ice cream talk! Wow they even make milk chocolate fudge! I really only like milk chocolate other than I did used to like Baskin and Robbins World Class Chocolate which had white chocolate, too. Maybe one hot day I'll ask Dad just to check if Ralph's has Turkey Hill. Hooray all-around for ice cream!

Wishing all of you a good night's rest.

Graeter’s Coconut Chocolate Chip.....wow I’ve been busy in the last 24 hours and you guys are 3 pages of posts. YEAH. !! Glad to see some of you back

Graeter’s - yes in Cincinnati , also Columbus, Ohio . Years ago, i want to say it was a chocolate raspberry flavor that was delicious ! I also remember Oprah having it on one of her Christmas lists

my favorite : Mint Oreo

Just got caught up, BOSTON - my favorite big city. We had friends that lived in Salem and went to the witch museum, i wanna say some really nice art museum . A few years later we went to a hockey game right after new year’s played in the baseball stadium. We were one of the last flights to arrive before they shutdown the airport. I had wanted to do part of the freedom trail, but ended up with a foot of snow and only went to the bookstore on Boston University’s campus and the aquarium.

Side note: my oldest has asked to go to New York City several times, i keep telling him all big cities are the same. He’s been to Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus and Boston.
I went to NYC twice in my early 20s for just a few days and really wasn’t a fan

Good morning QUACK'ers. Stayed well into the 60's overnite, going to be at least 90 today and tomorrow. I plan on staying inside with the ac going, other than to water the garden and flowers. So nice and quiet in the morning while the cicada's are not making any noise. I am sure they will reach ear piercing decibels later on.

Bed was already stripped and remade and sheets in the washer. Hubby wants homemade pizza tonite , so I am defrosting Naan breads, pepperoni, mozzarella and Italian sausage for them. Will make a nice big salad to go with it, and we have fresh watermelon for dessert.

I plan on doing nothing today, way too much got done yesterday, and I am still a little stiff and tired.

QOTD--since I am from Western MA, Boston is definitely NOT one of my favorite big cities. I don't think I have one in MA at all. Never been to the midwest so no idea on that one, and I would have to say West Coast would be San Francisco.

Have a nice morning all,,stay cool if you are in the heat wave!

I missed some questions!

Zoo animal: Otters. So playful!

Sport: I like to watch football (in person and on tv); hockey (prefer in person) and baseball (prefer in person, won't watch on tv). Hate basketball with a passion. Golf is not a sport.

Best ice cream flavor: oooh, tough one. I love Tillamook's vanilla; it's so light and creamy, it almost feels like you're eating whipped cream. Graeter's has black cherry chocolate chip and a salted caramel chocolate chip that are amazing. Jeni's Blackout chocolate cake is to die for. Talenti has some amazing gelatos, including Chocolate peanut butter cup; Salted caramel truffle; Sea Salt Caramel; and Coffee chocolate chip. We like going to Jeremiah's Italian Ice; DD#2 loves their lemon basil when it's available. I like getting the Horchata layered with vanilla soft serve; or if they dont' have that, either orange smash or lemon layered with the vanilla soft serve; sometimes the watermelon or strawberry lemon by itself. (Can you tell I like ice cream, lol)

ETA: favorite city: Savannah GA, or St Augustine FL
midwest-- Omaha, NE only because that is where DD#1 is. Grand Lake CO (does CO count as mid-west?)
west: San Diego!

DH and I are heading to the bank to pull out Disney cash, before we spend it at home, lol. Maybe go to breakfast someplace new to us; then Kohls to pick up my orders, and Publix for some fresh veggies and milk. Who knows where else we'll go, lol..

DS is officially a Senior! Next year, he only has 5 classes: US Gov/Econ; Statitistics; English; and 2 computer courses, AP Computer Programming and another where he gets to learn Python and work on coding.

I, sadly, gained back 1.5 lbs over the last week. :sad1: I have not walked enough, because I twisted my ankle and knee on Monday, when I slipped on the wet stairs outside the house, and went down a couple of stairs and landed hard. I've only been able to manage a couple of miles before the pain really puts me down. Plus I had a cheat day, where I just ate whatever (still kept it under 2200 calories, but this weightloss program has me at between 1500-1800 calories a day), and (TMI) as I haven't had a period since...March...I'm thinking I've got some pm water weight gain going on. /sigh I hope it doesn't show up until mid-July (if it ever has to show up again!). I'm feeling a bit better, so tomorrow, it's back on the walking push. My Fitbit has been 'yelling' at me to get moving, and I feel guilty, lol.

Hope everyone is doing well, and have a great weekend!
