Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Glad you enjoyed a nice lunch, B&B, and got a popsicle treat, too :) You did good Kohl's shopping! I've looked briefly on Kohls.com, it seems online at least for some things choices are very limited. Is it that way in store? God-willing things keep getting brighter and then there would be more options including one great day my going to Kohl's and maybe Penney's too, in person :)

That is creepy, Pea!

Good for you, Easyas! Enjoy some R&R tonight.

May Gray has stuck around here all day. It is supposed to be 80 on Monday! We shall see. I hope all of you are having a good weekend :)

Kohl's has a decent selection of some stuff, but lacking in others. You can find a shirt in your color but not the right size, or the other way around, and have to order the correct one on the website. Honestly, if not for a sale/coupon, they are overpriced...some things, like Kitchenaid mixer and attachments or prepackaged Hanes underwear, as examples, are cheaper at Walmart/Target/Amazon, unless you get a great coupon/sale combo. DS and I really like their Sonoma Goods For Life brand; they seem to be sized appropriately and are mostly super comfy and soft.

DISNEY + LOVE IT !!! All the traditional cartoon movies, then the old classics like the original Parent trap with Haley mills, Swiss Family Robinson. Some of the sports movies based on real teams from the 80s and 90s. We got the package that also includes National Geographic and enjoy the show...forget the name...but it takes you behind the scenes at Animal Kingdom and how they take care of the animals. More content than I thought

Thank you, AuntieMe3. Yay that you enjoyed more fun with friends :)

I'm sorry, Sweetpeama. That's not right to expect you to do everything especially something he (your DH) was instigated.

I also like Kohl's Sonoma brand, B&B. A few years ago, I did the softest sheets from them as well. I would never shop at one of their stores without a coupon. Their original prices always seem so high. I actually like the Walmart Secret Treasure brand of underwear in a style that seems to have been discontinued. I'm going to be trying Hanes for the first time in a few years (IMO their quality had gone way down in many aspects including sizing within a package not being the same fit)

I don't have Disney +, Sparkle, but tend to prefer the older classic movies, even from the 80's and 90's to those of today. I'm very old fashioned this way and prefer (in general) more traditional animation to computer generated graphics or even 3D. I'm glad you are enjoying some old favorite movies :)

Wishing all of you friends, a good night!

Good morning all. Brr,,it feels cool outside, just turned the heat on and up. Temp is going to be low 50's today. Didn't hear from stepson last nite by the time I went to bed at 10. Don't know if they are still coming up, or if they just drove up too late for them to call. Guess we'll find out this morning.
I only saw 4 new cicada's, when I went to feed the outside cats, their emergence has definitely slowed down.

No plans for the day unless we get company, then we might find something to do. More than likely will just stay here and visit. They will want to go out to eat, but we still aren't going indoors to restaurants, don't feel totally safe doing it yet.

Have a nice morning all!

Up early this morning or more correctly still up from when I woke up about 10:30 last night after crashing sometime around 6:30 last night and not able to get back to sleep. I did get an appointment scheduled to get the septic system pumped out online yesterday. Will be worth the money to get that done as I am starting to smell it coming into the house and am sick of it and trying my best not to gag.
My dad thinks we may have a broken pipe but at least it will be easier to see and if needed replace once we have everything pumped out. Now to get through until noon on Tuesday. I am going to be issuing orders that all showers, laundry, filling of water bottles, kettles, ect be done by 11:30 AM that day and that includes filling the cats water bowl and the old apple cider jug that we use to fill their bowl with so that 13 year old can help with caring for the cats.
The place I scheduled with online is open 24 hours 7 days a week so I might give them a quick call after DH and 16 year old leave around 3:30 to go to work and let them know that my dad thinks that there might be a broken pipe and find out if that is the case if they can fix it and what we might be looking at for the costs.
I physically can not, my dad is in his 70s and is not even crawling down in a hole to fix a broken pipe on his own place anymore, and well since the house is not clean to have anyone over DH asking either of his brothers for help is not going to happen. I would rather pay someone to get it replaced if that is the problem than try and get DH and 16 year old to get it done.

In other news I was able to find out some information on one of my great grandmother's on my dad's side of the family including the names of her parents. I can not wait to share this information with my dad either later today or sometime in the next week or so.

Good morning all.

Been cold and wet here the past 2 days or so. Of course that means a headache for me. I get one every time we get pressure changes with the weather. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice out, I hope. I will skip the pool for now although I did take the kids when they were young. We belong to a swim club and I like the convenience. One fee and I get a longevity discount now but it was so worth it when the kids were little and the grandkids. I find a nice umbrella in the shade and read, occasionally taking a dip in the pool. I keep the membership now because I can take my husband and let him get some air and find people to talk to occasionally. We joined when my youngest was 4 so about 30 years ago. He has been to the club a grand total of maybe 12 times and hat was only for July 4th festivities. The club has games, a DJ and adult and kids beer. The kids beer is a keg of Birch Beer. I miss the days when my kids loved to go and have fun.

I have been trying to research military records since one website is offering free access for the weekend. I have had some luck but it is a long process. My son is the grill master tomorrow so I'll head over there for the afternoon but today is still up in the air. Trying to decide if I want to cook or use gift cards and order out. One of those lazy kind of days.

I agree about Kohls. They used to be my go to store but I haven't been happy there for a couple of years. The prices have skyrocketed so even with a coupon they are not always inexpensive. I am particular about how my shirts fit. I used to love the polo/golf shirts but I don't want to raise my arms and they are halfway up my side. I like them longer and they always cut them for stick figure people. I love a more local chain - Boscov's. The mens T's come in so many colors and are always on sale for around $3. They are long and I can use them under my summer button down shirts. Of course I usually live in jeans and Disney shirts but when I travel I like to look a little nicer. When I travel with my mother she gives me strict orders - NO Grumpy shirts. Of course she isn't happy about my jeans and is always trying to get me in pull on polyester pants and skirts. I have to remind her that is not my style.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Good Morning All,

I am in such extra gratitude to God for the kindness extended to me a little while ago from Amazon chat. I was concerned about the shipping time of a couple items and a kind supervisor helped to work that out. So thankful.

Looking forward to watching worship a little later.

Sunday hugs to all!

It is a cold, rainy, dreary weekend here. The temps are around 50. No walking this weekend. We had my younger DS's 3 kids yesterday afternoon until after supper while DS and DDIL did some errands and house cleaning. They are very active but mostly well behaved little ones. The oldest DGD is in charge for sure! Younger DGD is so sweet and now talking quite a bit for a 2 year old. DGS loves his trucks. He opens all the Hess truck boxes and does his own mix and match of the big trucks and little trucks. I am tired today so trying to chill out a bit.

I like Kohls and have been lucky to find some good shirts and shorts. I never pay full price because they are ridiculous. I wait for sales. I have been going to Land's End too as I find their shirts seem to fit me better. I wait until they send me a 40% off notice before shopping there. They usually have discounts.

It is nice to have a 3 day weekend. Work has been a bit stressful since I got back from vacation. I am not sure if I just have a different attitude after being off for a week or if things really did change a bit while I was away. My company is starting to call back people and things are picking up a bit. The person who filled in for part of my job while I was away fundamentally changed how I do one of my tasks. I am not happy that she decided to do that. I just ignored it and went back to how I do it. She was just supposed to fill in, not make it hers. Then I got another task added to my list and I am already busy enough to fill my work time. I will just have to see how it goes over the next month and let them know if things are too much. Hopefully they will bring back one or two of the people they furloughed in my group. I am already looking forward to my next vacation at the end of the summer. LOL!

Happy Sunday!

I "liked" your post for your grandkid time, Snowysmom :) I'm sorry work has been stressful. It's definitely not cool when out of the blue how you are expected to do something is changed without first consulting with you on it! I was in a similar situation of sorts with church summer camps one year. Prayers that will soon change. Happy next vacation to you, too :)

I enjoyed as always watching worship, Carol (hope you are having a wonderful getaway) "Holy, Holy, Holy" is one of my very favorite Hymns so it meant a lot to hear that this morning as part of the service.

The sun has come out a little bit here. I am not sure about 80 tomorrow but we shall see :sunny: As a gift wrap, FYI, don't buy "cello" paper unless you truly want whatever you are wrapping to be visible OR intend to use darker colored tissue paper as an inner/first layer of wrap before the cello! Dad was so sweet to get me yesterday a bright roll of wrapping paper with a fun design which I needed for some of his Father's Day and other gifts to come actually. The only problem is that it is cello which=pretty much see through. Thankfully I did have some darker purple colored tissue which I used to wrap up one gift first. Tomorrow he's going right past the 99 cent only store anyway so will run in for a solid (not more heavy plastic) paper wrap :)

Long time no see, friends! Glad to see the thread is still going. We're wrapping up the school year and I feel like we're even more busy than usual. Plus all the outdoor stuff that we can do now as well. I can't believe that just this past Wednesday, we were sweltering in the 90 degree heat and humidity - Friday, yesterday, and today are horribly cold, windy, and rainy. Today's high is only around 50 and yesterday, our car thermometer was registering at 43 degrees. I've also felt this horrible sense of unease for several weeks now. I can't shake the feeling that something isn't right and/or that something unpleasant is going to happen soon.

Friday evening, our entire family went to the veteran's cemetery to leave flowers on my FIL's grave. A very close friend of my MIL's had passed a few weeks after Dad did, and it was a comfort to see that her grave is the row behind Dad, 3 spots over. Eventually my MIL and the friend's husband will join them, and it's nice to know that they will all be together.

Yesterday, DH, Josh, and I went with my MIL and SIL to lay flowers at the grandparents' graves. Now here's something that I think is too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence...my FIL had a younger brother who sadly passed away at 18 months old (heart condition). He passed on February 6, 1941. Well...my FIL passed on February 6, 2021. Same day, 80 years apart. How freaky is that?

DH took Josh to sleep over at my MIL's house tonight, so I'm not really sure what to do with myself. It's too quiet. I finished up my gifts for Josh's teacher and the teacher's helper, and now I'm sitting here watching Harry Potter movies. I made this box for Josh's teacher and we'll be putting some pencils, pens, markers, erasers, etc. in it...

I had Josh sign and date the inside of the lid. I'm a little upset that the photos show the outlines of the stickers - they don't look as obvious in person.

Then we made this for the helper:

PXL_20210530_204315236.MP (3).jpg

It's red, not the orange that it seems to be (bad lighting) - Josh says that's her favorite color, and he wanted her first-name initial on it. I'm going to have him sign and date the back of it, like he did with his teacher's box. I really hope they like them! I know teachers say they don't really like things that are "teacher-y" but this is (mostly) handmade... :confused3

I can't believe the school year is almost over. It wasn't easy, but it still went by SO FAST. I can't believe I've almost got a first grader! And I can't believe he's going to be 6 already. Time is just speeding by...

Nice to see you stop by Pirate! Time does indeed speed by - and of course, HP is on in this house as well 😆 My husband and BIL are joking (I hope!!) about signing up for the HP game show.

We planted another 17 trees so that brings us up to 32 planted yesterday & today. Also got a fair bit of the front gardens weeded and mulched, but I ran out of mulch after 30 bags. I knew I should have just gotten a dump truck load but never did get around to it....so off to Lowes to get some more bagged mulch to finish up. Next year I'm going back to getting a few yards of mulch in the dump truck like I should have this year.

Dinner this evening was tortilla chips & queso, turkey/venison burgers and wine. It's still gloomy and damp outside, a drizzle here and there, but I think the majority of the rain is on it's way elsewhere. At least I hope so....

Well excuse me...one of the dogs is barking his fool head off at a turkey buzzard that had the nerve to land on the top of one of the barn roofs.

@apirateslifeforme, cute boxes!

When I left for Sunday School this morning I was pleasantly surprised to find the temps in the mid 60's. It was wonderful! Stayed in the mid 70's all day. I was in and out of the house spending most of the afternoon going through my mom's paperwork. Still have a lot to look at but I made a dent in it. Had dinner at El Fenix.

I like Kohl's for the most part. I can get pretty good deals combining their sales with coupons. I haven't been pleased with their plus size clothing though in a couple of years. I bought a Croft and Barrow shirt two weeks ago in the size I normally wear and had to return it, it was too small. So I when I went to return it I tried on some more and wouldn't you know, they were all too small. Something is wrong there because I know I haven't gained weight.

Okay. Cicada talk reminded me of this. I'll give fair warning if you're squeamish about.... creatures. Ha! (Think the real version of Micky and Minnie...)

So... the high school I attended was in terrible shape (building wise) when I graduated in 2002. They have finally decided to just build a completely new building. I was talking about it with a family at church who attends the same high school. But first some background info.

This building was originally built to be a small Jr. high for only 7th and 8th grades. Then they decided to turn it into a high school. My district in the mid 90s was one of the, if not THE fastest growing school district in the entire country. You can imagine the stress this put on facilities management. The elementary schools ended up going to year-round schedule, with 4 "cycles." with staggered breaks. It was on for 9 weeks, off for 3. So at any one time, approx. 1/4 of the school was off, and not actually in the building. Due to logistics, they could not do this at the high school level. So they just kept expanding/adding on to the building. It now has 5 phases. Once they "fix" (yes, there's a reason that's in quotes) everything in one phase, it's time to do the same to the next, and so the building is in constant need of repairs and upgrades. There are certain parts of the roof that start leaking soon after they replace the roof of that section. There's mold and mildew problems. The halls are not wide enough to accommodate the number of students. It's.... bad. And its been that way for years.

(squeamish part next)
So one of the girls was talking about mice in the building, and I'm just like "Oh yeah. Creatures. Doesn't surprise me at all." the girl says to her mom, "See?? I told you!" So then I relayed the story of the mouse that was found in the publications room my Senior year. The publications advisor (still at the school) chased it around and scooped it up in a bucket, then took its picture. A friend of mine also saw a tick just hanging out on the wall. And then there were cockroaches.... If it was that bad in 2002, I can only imagine how bad it is now.

(end of squeamish part)

I also called the auditorium "the dungeon" and when I told one of the girls that, she was like "Oh yeah. That's appropriate."

The alternate plan to building a whole new building was to add on to the existing building AGAIN, and a new roof was in the "4-5 year plan." Uh... No. Just.... No. I actually live right behind the building still, and I am so happy to see this plan finally move forward.

Good morning Quackers and Happy Memorial Day. Thanks to you and any family members who have served, or are serving!

Weather is supposed to be perfect today,,71 and sunny, so it will be tomato planting day, finally. Usually I plant about 3 weeks earlier, but this nutty weather has made me hesitant about putting them in yet. Tomorrow will be mowing day, before it gets too tall again.

Had a nice visit with stepson and one of our granddaughters. She's 13, going on 18, by the looks of her. But she's such a sweet girl.
They were actually looking forward to seeing a few cicada's. Luke hasn't seen them in 34 years, Logan has never seen them. At least a few were still emerging and hanging around for them to see, despite the cool/raw day.

They are heading home this morning to beat the traffic, so we may or may not get to see them. At least we were finally able to give them their Christmas gifts before they left. Still didn't trust the USPS to get them there without getting lost, so we hung onto them. Luke will be coming back up in 2 weeks to deliver a painting he did and sold to someone. He doesn't trust the USPS to deliver it even with insurance, and he figures it would cost about $150 to send it. Hopefully the other 2 granddaughters will be able to come up this time too. The oldest lives in DE and is working at Car Max training to be a manager, so she might not be able to get time off, but the other one is only 17 and works at DQ so she should be able to ask for a day off 2 weeks in advance.

Have a nice morning all,,enjoy the holiday, and the last day of May!

good morning everyone! The sun is finally shinning and it's bright outside!

Not sure what we will get into - I think we are going to get more mulch, but we'll see what the day brings

The one in Newark? My brother just sold a car there, said it was a super easy/simple experience. Good luck to her!

Both boys went night fishing w/ a few friends up near the Gunpowder Falls last night, but I think youngest might be by later this afternoon to bring some boxes to store here (he just moved out of a apartment into a series of extended stay apartments along with the other guys in his unit because there are no barracks at his location) if he feels like fighting the shore traffic

Have a good day everyone! Happy Memorial Day!

Not sure which Car Max, will ask stepson if they stop by on their way home. She's been there for almost 2 years. Trying to finish up all her college courses and work, but decided work would pay better, lol
