Good Morning to all :)

Cooler last night which did make it easier to sleep. I'm thankful the apartment has retained warmth though from the last few days and is comfortable now. Going to the library's website to place a hold on a few more books that Dad will pick up when he gets his hold book. So grateful this service is now available. So nice to have some new books to read!

What Karen Kingsbury books have you enjoyed reading, Kirby? :) Have fun at the zoo with your grandkids on Monday.

Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, Sweetpeama!

Glad to hear it’s cooler there today, Lynn. I hope both you and your DH have a relaxing day!

Great you did get your money back after not too long, Easyas. Not “great” that your order took such a wayward turn.

Stay warm, DazedX3 and hope you are feeling better today, too, my friend.

Happy Thursday, friends :grouphug:

Happy B'day Sweetpeama!

To continue the conversation of refunds for stuff that never arrived - we've disputed our credit card charges from Burgess with positive results. Basically we ordered 90 trees from them at the beginning of April, at which time I was told 2 weeks to ship. Sounded good...long story short, almost two months later, many phone calls, being told that the order was partially sent w/o being able to provide tracking info, not being able to cancel the order on the phone w/ customer service - could only email and got no response to that email - finally just said screw it and called cc to dispute. Chase was very easy to deal with, quick to resolve the matter and within 48 hours we will have our card credited. And I'm done with Burgess. I understand delays, I get that this is a difficult time but I can't work with zero communication. Maybe we will head out to one of the local nurseries on Saturday when it's raining :( to pick up the last of the trees we needed.

Headed to lower DE for a work function in a few minutes. I kinda don't really feel like it, basically driving 1 hour & 45 minutes to stand around and shoot the you know what with pipe salesman at a BBQ with 60 other folks. But a bit of schmoozing here and there is sometimes what you gotta do. Plus a very big client will be there.

I should water the plants in my office -

Glad that you got a refund. You would think that an order for 90 trays from a nursery, would have been a simple for them to do,,but I guess not. Glad that Chase was quick to take care of your issue!

In my ebay/paypal case, they have to allow the idiot seller (not an ebay registered user any longer, since ebay removed them), 2 more days, until Saturday to contact them. Then they will process my refund and put the money back in my bank account. But I learned my lesson..never again will I even consider buying from a new seller with 0 feeback. I also found out that since the selle is no longer an ebay user, the other 41 people who got scammed, can't even leave negative feedback for them.

I finished the weedwacking before 9 am, when it was still cloudy and cool. Temp is 80 now and it's absolutely gorgeous outside. If it wasn't going to rain tomorrow,,and then be in the 50's this weekend, I would be out there tilling and putting down the landscape fabric. Now it has to wait till at least Sunday (less chance of rain) , or Monday. We don't do anything on Memorial Day anyhow other than grill outdoors. We are just having a relaxing afternoon watching more season finales. I finally got the Masked Singer winner right,,lol!

Hug extra Lynn. Just glad to hear that just maybe come Saturday Ebay will finally do what they should have done to begin with: move forward on your refund! Glad you are relaxing and thanks, btw for giving our thread a bump. I had noticed it was starting to head lower down the page :(

well, I did relax,,this morning..and now it was just too nice to be inside. I tilled the garden on the cultivate setting, smoothed it all down with a rake, and put down 4 rows of landscaping fabric with big stones in the corners of each row..and hoe'd some soil along the edges to hold it down. The rain shouldn't bother it,,,and that's almost 2 hours of labor I don't have to spend before planting on Sunday or Monday. The weatherman was wrong though, was supposed to be a high of 78 and its 85 out. And the noise from the cicada's is deafeningly loud out there. I came in and shut the windows and turned the ac on ..both to cool off, and to stop their noise, lol

My husband sent me a video from Ft. Meade earlier today, it wasn't of anything but rather more for the audio. The cicadas were deafening! I couldn't believe it! He said it was unreal, that the video audio didn't even do them justice.

I can't wait to get outside later this afternoon. Dreaming of some fresh air - going to take the whirlygig and measure off for the trees and mark the areas, then I may or may not start moving some of the trees over there, we will see. Confirmed the three guys are coming over at 6 AM on Saturday to get started early and hopefully beat some of the rain.

Glad you got outside a bit, yuck again to the bugs all-around!

I've been doing some early searching on Father's Day decorations and not finding a thing! Either the decor is drinking related or dark colored or just very costly. Just want a cheerful Happy Father's Day something--from a plastic tablecloth or paper plates to a cutout to hang on the wall or one of those honeycomb centerpieces like the Dollar Tree always has for birthdays. I would appreciate any suggestions! I will probably make my own sign but would like some type of table decoration. Thank you, friends.

@Sweetpeamama - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

@flyingdumbo127 - Have you tried the Dollar Store for decorations? It's my favorite party store and cheap!

It has been a long day and I have a headache We did the food distribution today and I was in charge since my mom had a drs. appointment. It was our last Farmer to Family boxes as the program has been discontinued. This is sad because there are so many people still in need. Then the gentleman in charge explained that the state of Pennsylvania has allotted approximately 150,000 pounds of fruit and vegetables total for the ENTIRE state this summer. The organization that is our distribution center gave out 2 MILLION pounds last year. That was really sad to hear. We have slowed down a bit but most of the people we help are seniors and families. The need is so great so it was sad news.

Then my mom was telling everyone, not really me, that the doctors did a cognitive test on my dad as part of his annual physical. He failed miserably. I sort of knew that he had something going on but it was hard to hear that it was confirmed. The stories he told me the other day were also not entirely true. My mom got mad but I told her it isn't hurting anyone, let it go. I will just count every day he remembers us and is still here as a blessing and hope it doesn't get to hard on my mom to care for him.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon/evening.

:hug:Taz Dev. Memory loss in those we love is heartbreaking. I went through dementia with my Grandma. I well remember times when I had more of a caregiver role in her life where she would come up with some non sensical stories. Yes, I was concerned and I admit at times frustrated more so because it was so sad how insistent she was that something not truly happening was. What mattered is the time we had. A couple years or so later when she was in a nursing home for the last less than a year of her life, she no longer spoke much. My Grandma sure liked to talk and would share her opinion and love/loyalty with all! :) The one ray of hope a couple days before her passing that truly I believe with all my heart is that even then, God by His Grace made sure I would know Grandma still somewhere inside knew me and Dad as well. I had brought with me some pictures of the preschoolers I was teaching that year. Grandma turned her head to look at the pictures. She knew I was trying to share with her something special. Your Dad is still your Dad, my friend. Much love and prayer.

Thank you for the Dollar Tree recommendation. I love that store, too. Dad was actually at one yesterday and I had asked him to let me know what they might have Father's Day-wise (remember I can't go shopping right now) and he said not much. This is why I started looking early :)

Oriental Trading has some stuff.

QOTD: Memorial Day traditions

as a kid, we would walk the 1/2 mile downhill to the end of our lane and watch a local 20k or maybe it was a 1/2 marathon race telling the racers it was only a little farther to the top of the hill
with my kids, we attend the local town’s parade, after watching it for 4 years they were able to BE IN IT for their sports teams. Riding their scooters and then in the back of a pickup. Yeah, they didn’t like waiting the 45 mins for the set up of floats, cars, marching bands etc before the parade even started. Hoping to go this year with a blanket and popcorn and pop cycles and watch with some friends.
we also usually do a family cookout and attend 1 or 2 high school graduation parties
then of course, yard work. Yard work. Yard work
and how could i forget —- often see a Marvel movie if it was opening weekend

Thank you, Pollyanna Mom! Oriental Trading is a great and fun site :)

I just found this on Amazon: Custom Sign It's a custom wall hanging sign! It's pricey but would be something lasting. I had earlier found this garden flag which I was able to save as a picture. I did upload it to my CVS photo account but it could only be ordered (not high enough resolution) as 4X6. I'd want a little bigger. If I could find something similar that were horizontal it would be perfect. I will keep looking for something that could work but would appreciate some Quacker help :)

Good Friday morning all. Last Friday of May, already. Memorial Day weekend = start of summer season. Weather is NOT going to feel like it. 58 degrees out now , going to a high of 65, rain all day and tomorrow, when it will be a whopping 53 degrees. Glad I got all the yardwork , and some of the garden work done. Plants will have to stay in the greenhouse for a few more days. Cicada's are still emerging,,since they said they had a 2-3 week span of when they come and go, and it's already been 2 weeks, and if they are still emerging, how are they going to be gone by the end of next week?
@Breezy_Carol Glad you made it to NY. Have a safe and fun trip!

No plans for the day. Hubby came to bed at 10 last nite. Was up at 11:30, then again at 1, then 3, and then 4 and is still up. Needless to say, neither of us got much restful sleep. So it's going to be a lazy day.

Have a nice morning QUACK'ers!

Good day all!

Naval Academy graduation today, and Memorial Day weekend + Bay Bridge traffic = traffic a bit dicey not to far from me so I'm not headed anywhere terribly exciting in the next few days! Weather looks totally terrible over the next 2 1/2 days but you know what? Not gonna let it bother me! Headed up to pick some mulch up in a bit...I'm going to get my mulch done this weekend even if I'm cold, wet & miserable! ha ha!

Got my turkey breast cooked last night, and pulled apart. Going to make turkey soup for tomorrow, because nothing says the start of Summer like turkey soup :thumbsup2

Has anyone else heard the news? Universal Orlando is expected to announce tomorrow that they are going mask free INDOORS as well! A sure sign we are moving on from Covid, and a good sign!

Have a good morning everyone! Safe travels to those traveling this holiday weekend, and all our thanks to those who served and helped protect us this Memorial Day.

Good Morning Quackers,

Have a safe and fun time, Carol :)

Wishing all of you a safe and good weekend upcoming as well with my thanks, too, for all who have served and their families.

It's cool here so far this early morning, May Gray?

Please keep my Dad in a bit of extra prayer, thank you:hug: He will be fine, thank God, no worry. Protecting his privacy by being a bit vague but always am so Blessed and thankful to be able to turn to all of you!

ETA: I really want to make this Father's Day extra special for Dad. I truly would appreciate help with finding a horizontal Happy Father's Day, Dad image in bright colors. Lol, I am not finding anything. The best one was the vertical from yesterday but that's just the wrong way! I did not see on Amazon a personalized vertical hanging sign option. Thank you, my friends.
