Had my Meniscus surgery yesterday, so I guess i am staying on the couch for the most part today. Why is that when I am layed up, I have the most ambition!

Feel better soon!

Lynxstch - hope your grandaughter is feeling better-

Been to Lowes, Home Depot, then back to Lowes. Bought as much stuff as I could fit in my SUV then headed home. Now I have to do something with it all!

Feel better soon!

Lynxstch - hope your grandaughter is feeling better- Thanks, but she isn't. And I am beyond peeved. Our hospital sent her home, as noone has any beds. All they did was 'talk about ways to keep her safe till she sees her therapist on Monday' ???? So what is my stepdaughter supposed to do..sit there and watch her constantly for 48 hours so she doesn't hurt herself? The hospital should have admited her, whether they no longer have a Pediatrics dept or not..and kept her there safely till Monday :(

Stop buying so much and you won't have that problem,,lol!~~

Thank you for the prayers. She just sent hubby a FB message, saying 'hey, I love you very much'..that does not sound like the Lily we know,,and it's very concerning to us. That was the first and only message she sent since his birthday last November. And she's always started with "Granddad",,not 'hey'? He's trying to get her to keep messaging. She said we have to video chat soon as she misses him very much. He asked her how school was..and her reply was that she's not in school..she's 'homebound and a teacher comes to the house'..that school was too much for her and she needed a break? They just went back to in class school in March..it's only May 1..how much of a break can she need? And the fact that she's not back in school was news to us..according to stepdaughter, she went back to school in March and was planning on the 'prom' this week. T2 + 2 just aren't adding up to 4 for us in all this right now, if you know what I mean???

Hubby and I were just talking (after I messaged one stepson and found out she had messaged him also)...we are wondering if this has something to do with what they said to try and do to keep her safe till Monday. For her to contact people she loves and tells them? If so,,it would be nice if stepdaughter let people know before we get all worried about it

Yikes, yes!!

I would also have assumed something else (and scary) from the "not her usual self" text except for her request to video chat soon. - Making plans to socialize does sound like a strategy that would be suggested.

we are hoping that is what is going on,,will update when we know anything more..thanks so much!

I am truly sorry she - and by extension as her grandparents you guys - are going thru this. Forgive me if I am overstepping here, but it sounds as if it is time to escalate this situation....perhaps now is the time for her Dr. (or the ER dr. or ANY other trusted medical adviser) to be called and asked for a immediate referral to a in patient long term facility where she can receive help ASAP. Scream, yell, stomp feet and take it up the chain of command if insurance refused to pick up the appropriate tab. Go to war. I wish your family luck and peace to your grandaughter over these next days.
I even got some more lilys and hostas planted at my stumpery, which I was happy to get done. I'm out here now on the porch. Duke the Great Dane figured it was 5 so he'd have a cocktail, relax, make our phone calls (to my parents, medical issues there), check our emails and relax. Then I looked up...we have a side by side we use for random stuff here on the farm, my husband puts a fishing pole in one of the holders "in case he's down by the creek, I used it when doing stuff. Anyway, I drove it into the woods and then out, up the hill thru the field and up to the house. I just have looked at it and realize that at some point in coming up from the woods the fishing pole caught on some random tree. It is still hooked to the back of the side by side but who KNOWS how far the line is out and what it is hooked to!
Now - between you and me I am half temped to leave it. BUT eldest will be arriving at some point between now and dark and it's across the driveway. Hell - I'm going to take my scissors and just cut it.

I'm not sure what is for dinner. Maybe a BLT. My stomach has finally forgiven me for last nights indulgences so that's good.
Off to find my scissors.

Thanks easy---Stepdaughter tried to get her into Brooklane in Hagerstown,,that's where she has gone the last 2 times. But they have no openings at all. Apparently Morgantown doesn't have any either. And our hospital doesn't have the capability of taking care of teenage psychiatric patients, apparently :( You aren't overstepping at all. I have no clue why her therapist can't see her till Monday, or why she doesn't have someone covering for her in an emergency situation. Stepdaughter plans to take her back to the hospital if she starts doing anything 'odd'. I appreciate the thoughts and the prayers! Lynn

LOL your resolution to the problem, would be the exact same one I would take!

Our meatloaf is almost done,,just basted it for the last time with the bbq sauce. Off to eat and then crash for the rest of the nite, I am beat!

@lynxstch I hope your DGD gets the help she needs Monday. That does seem to be unacceptable to have to wait.

@Pea-n-Me Thank you for the info forJasper. His BP did get a bit low so hopefully the lower dose of the med will do the trick: a more normal BP and better kidney values.

Beautiful day today, sunny and around 60. Tomorrow it is supposed to be 70.

Hi friends.

We had a wonderful get away. Lots of bike riding and beach time and eating good seafood. After we left Chincoteague, drove an hour south to Cape Charles to a brewery we like for lunch then home. Added 100 miles to the trip, but hey, we're retired and it was worth it.

Got home last night and have been catching up with laundry etc. Held mail was supposed to be delivered yesterday but wasn't so I went and stood in line at the post office today to get it. New substitute carrier. Then to grocery store.

After lunch we took the bikes to the bike store. A story from our miles a bike riding. Usually I ride in front because DH likes to follow to see where I am. He had gone in front and didn't know how far back I was so made a U turn. Unfortunately I was right behind him and couldn't stop in time. I crashed into his back wheel and I went down. Luckily no real injuries, just a scraped palm and a couple of bruises on my legs. His bike, however, suffered a bent rear wheel. He was able to release the rear brakes so that we could still ride. So to the bike store we went today.

I read everything but can't remember to comment on all.

I'll have to look for the Jim Henson book. He went to University of Maryland and it often spoken of. There is a cool statue of him and Kermit in front of the Student Union. I'll try to find a picture later.

We've been in our house for almost 25 years. So far we have had to put in 5 garage door openers and 4 dishwashers. And we've had four washer/dryers and two refridgerators. But our oven/stove is 25 years old!!!!
We've been in our house 33 years. Several garage door openers. 3 pull down stairs to garage, 3 dishwashers, 3 fridges, and the same awful stove/oven that I hate. It will never die because I dislike it so much.

QOTD: DO YOU have any May the 4th ? May the force (be with you)/star wars. Or Cinco de Mayo. ( May the 5th). Traditions ??
Not really. When I liked in a row house our neighbors celebrated Cinco De Mayo loud enough to make me hate it.

I may or may not make a pit stop at the Yankee Candle outlet to see if they have any good tarts.
I don't go to YC outlet anymore. I went once in Lancaster and they had candles similar enough in name and design that I thought it was the scent I liked. Got it home and it really had no smell. Luckily I could return but they don't have the same candles as the real store.

I make decoupaged wooden signs.
So good to see you. And those signs are very nice.

In response to the meatloaf issues above
I made a WW version using oatmeal, salsa, mushrooms, and tomatoes in it.

QOTD: HOW DO you make your mashed potatoes ??
I don't care for mashed potatoes much so often use Idahoan instant for just the 2 of us. When from scratch just potatoes, milk, and butter.

Had my Meniscus surgery yesterday,
The PT in me has to say, Ice is your friend.

@lynxstch, more prayers for your granddaughter.

Getting ready to watch the Derby and make chili and salad for dinner.

:grouphug:💛Lynn, I chose a yellow heart to a fellow Quacker :) Prayers continuing extra!

Welcome Home, Carol! So glad you had such a nice trip, yay!

I just had such a May 1st Blessing. A friend from church, Terri (who gave me the Nativity) was in my area after bringing some items to an elderly friend of hers, stopped by. Dad gave her a donation bag I had put together for a homeless shelter along with a small surprise for her as well. I got to stand several feet away from her and talk.

Hugs to all and a good evening prayer as well!

Here we go again. Lily was so looking forward to her 'prom' this coming Thursday. But her FB posts the last 2 days have had us worried.Talking about people she knew who died and were in Heaven and missing them..Sure enough..hubby just got a FB message that Lily is in the hospital (ours for now), for mental health issues. No inpatient places have beds,,Morgantown said call them in a couple of hours, they might have a discharge. So, once again,,she needs prayers please. It's so scary when teenagers have mental health issues, you never know what the outcome will be :(
Praying

@TazDev, you mentioned rutabaga. I grew up calling them "hanovers" because that's what my mom called them. She grew up in Elkins, West Virgina until she was about 13. Has anyone else ever heard rutabagas called hanovers?

:rotfl2:

Ya'll have given my some great ideas for making meatloaf! I make plain Jane mashed potatoes. I mash them with a potato masher, add butter, salt, pepper and milk.

I am tired today! This morning DD, GD and I went to the opening day of the Farmer's Market on the town square. It was supposed to be a big to do with all kinds of vendors but with the chance of rain they canceled all the extra stuff and we just had our regular vendors. The city only allows food/produce vendors for our Farmers Market. We had breakfast at a cafe on the square and then walked into a couple of shops that had opened early for the market. DD bought some lovely strawberries and yellow squash. I bought some locally made salsa, tamales and jerky.

When we got home, DD and GKs switched rooms. Whew! You never know how much stuff you've got until you start moving it around. We spent the rest of the day doing that.

Dinner was grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. That's all I had energy for.

Good Sunday morning QUACKer's. Mild 53 outside now, going to be sunny and 80. Perfect day to find something else to do besides yardwork, which is all done anyhow, lol.

@Breezy_Carol glad you had a nice getaway, jealous of all the great seafood you got to eat. Sorry to hear about your run in with your hubby's bike..glad noone got hurt except the bike!

Lily's FB posts last night we much better than the last few days. Hoping this lasts till tomorrow. Thank you for all the prayers, they seem to be working. Mona..thanks for the 'yellow heart'!

I have no plans for the day. Maybe I can convince hubby to get out of the house and take a drive somewhere, maybe not. I didn't sleep well last night. Too much running through my mind, weird dreams, and general achiness from overdoing it I guess.

Have a great morning and day everyone! Take time to enjoy the beginning of May!

I have been puttering around the house this morning. We took our walk and later will take Jasper for his walk. We are seeing 3 of the grandkiddies today at younger DS's house. We are in the home stretch of the adults in the family all being fully vaccinated. Younger DDIL got her second shot yesterday and younger DS gets his second one next Monday. Then all done.

We are getting ready for our Disney trip including getting Jasper's med bag together etc. We go this coming weekend for 6 nights. It will be a different trip for sure.
