Good morning QUACKer's. Still very windy outside , advisory was only until 10 am, now its going to continue to 1 am. We have gusts at 35 mps now :( . I had washed the ac cover and hung it on the line with about a dozen clips. I happened to look out and it wasn't hanging there anymore. Ran out, and it had blown right off the line, and was half way down the side yard, some pins still attached. Grabbed it and brought it down to the celler and hung it down there to finish drying. Then around 9 last nite as we were watching tv..we heard this strange sound. I opened the front door to see what it was,,and it was dumping down a ton of rain. So hard and fast that the gutters couldn't handle it and it was just gushing over the end of them and pounding onto the drainage pipes at the end. That was the noise we heard..like someone banging on a drum. Very weird. Temp dropped from 76 to 57 right now, and our high is going to be 58. Calling for more rain this afternoon,,good, I didn't really feel like mowing again yet. Will have to wait for tomorrow. I did enough cleaning yesterday, taking a break today.
Have a nice morning everyone!

QOTD: DO YOU have any May the 4th ? May the force (be with you)/star wars. Or Cinco de Mayo. ( May the 5th). Traditions ??

I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, although I think there are a few in the office. As far as Cinco de Mayo, much like St. Pats Day I think it might be fun to go out, maybe go to a Mexican restaurant but I never actually do....Can't quite seem to make myself make the effort!

Good morning everyone. Quiet day in the office for me, I've got to go to the sign guy later this morning and give him a deposit to start a bit of signage he's doing for inside the office reception area. I may or may not make a pit stop at the Yankee Candle outlet to see if they have any good tarts.
No big plans for the weekend - mowing, which I may try to do this afternoon/evening. I may start my power washing. Or refull my porch flower baskets. Husband is headed up Lynxstch's way to do a bit of turkey hunting and help his uncle & cousins on the farm this weekend- it would seem they have a calf in a cast w/ a broken leg up there. Well - that will get my husband up there post haste!

Morning all.

I got my free Yankee Candle candle in the mail yesterday. It came with 3 others (I had a b2g1f offer, in addition to the birthday candle, and free shipping too). I really like the 4 scents I grabbed. I also got a free candle from them, totally out of the blue. IDK why...but who am I to complain. LOL I have 36 different candles sitting on my dresser, and about 10 duplicates in the closet. :rolleyes1 DH says I'm addicted. I say I just am trying to cover up the boy stink....:crazy2:

DS is getting his behind kicked by his 2nd shot. Got it Tuesday; had a fever all day Wed (up and down w/Tylenol); lost his energy on Wed, and is full of aches and pains. Still no energy today, still hurting, and his lymph nodes are swollen. Guess the shot is doing it's job, but I feel bad he feels bad. :(
-----------------------------

Getting things ready for our WDW trip in June/July. I've been walking, although not as much as I need to; but after 6ish years of very limited activity, even walking 1-1/2 miles at once is really hard. Last night, I could only do 3/4 of a mile; my lower back and ankles were hurting so bad before we left, but I went anyways. Bad joints + psioratic arthritis + sciatic nerve damage + overweight + allergies (grass and cedar, this time of year, and sometimes the pollen kicks up too)= no fun. Ah well, no more whining...just have to get on it.

I bought new sandals (Tevas) and I like them, but I'm not sure if I can do a full day in them. I ordered some Keens to try. I tried Sketchers sandals (I usually wear only Sketchers) but the sandals were too big, and the next size down was too small (no half sizes in these); I loved them, but they just didn't fit! I have shorts and sports bras. I ordered 3 'gardening' shirts (nylon/moisture wicking/air vents) to wear over tanks; and I bought a hat. I need to buy DS 2 new pairs of shoes (he has outgrown the ones he has now) and I think DH wants another pair of shoes (but he can buy his own, lol....actually, DS can buy his own shoes too, on the credit cards, but he is not inclined to do so without mom proding him, lol). I'm on the lookout for decent female boxer type underwear (that doesn't cost $$$$), as I hate the chafing in the thigh/groin crease from regular underwear (does that make sense?), and my current boyfriend boxer types don't like to stay up on my big booty when I walk. (maybe they are meant to do that, lol :thumbsup2 )

------------------------------

To answer the QOTD: no, no special things for us. We might have tacos or enchilada or tamales on the 5th, but not because it's the 5th...it'll be just because that's what we want that day. The 4th is our friend's daughters birthday, so they celebrate that.

((huggles)) to all who need them. Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning Quackers,

Thank you for the picture Sparkle :)

Have some fun and prayers you all find an extra smile this last day in April :)

Same to you Mona..but April here is doing what March was supposed to do..go out like a lion. Our high wind advisory is now a high wind warning, with gusts to 60 mph. I already found my porch chairs in the middle of the back yard, and the table upside down. I put them away in the shed. Tied the porch swing to the railing as it was banging into the chairs and making a racket. Picked up a bunch of broken branches. Going to be a long time till 1 am if this keeps up all day :( But the sun is shining and the sky is blue, for now. The grass has dried out, but its supposed to rain again this afternoon, so I guess mowing will be a tomorrow project !

Hello friends! I'm sorry to have been MIA. I thought that I'd have more time to be online once Josh went back to school 4 days a week. Surprise - I've found that I'm actually MORE occupied, doing errands and cleaning, and I've taken up a new hobby (which I'll post about further down). You are all still in my thoughts and daily prayers!

So Josh did start going to school 4x a week now, Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday. Wednesday remains asynchronous. Frankly, I'm so glad there are only 7 weeks left in the school year. I'm experiencing the bureaucratic red tape over stupid stuff. Like one day last week, Josh "forgot" that I sent him with lunch, so he ordered a hot lunch (it was mozzarella sticks that day) (and lunches are free for everyone this year). He took a few bites and decided he didn't like it, so his teacher had to email me about that. She also let me know that a few days a week, he was picking up a breakfast when he arrived in the morning, saying that he didn't eat before school. Well, he ALWAYS has breakfast, so I got concerned that he was hungry again by the time he got there, and I started sending a packet of those cereal Jumbo Snax for him to eat while his classmates are having their breakfast (he says about half of the kids take one. It's just Coco Puffs or Cinnamon Toast Crunch). He also says that he's one of the first kids to arrive, so I thought no problem, I'll send him with something that he can eat quickly while the other kids are eating. He came home yesterday and told me that he's not allowed to eat his own food, that if he's hungry, he has to say he didn't get breakfast at home and then they'll let him have a school breakfast. Seriously? Just seems ridiculous.

He also started playing t-ball, had his first practice this week. It seems like it will be fun for him. But again, a lot of bureaucratic red tape for us grown-ups. He's still doing gymnastics, too, which he LOVES. On Wednesdays, while I do have him do his assignments, we also make time to go out. If it's a nice day, we take a picnic lunch to the library (they recently installed some really nice picnic tables there) and then he runs around the playground for an hour or two. Every 3 weeks, we have to stop inside first to return books and get some new ones, too.

DH and I are done with our COVID vaccines, about a week and a half ago. I didn't really have too many side effects - I did get the swollen, itchy, and hot red spot that covered my upper arm. Also got a cold sore out of the blue, and I found some messages on Google where other people have said they got cold sores, too. DH was fine the day he got his vaccine, but the next day he came home early from work, saying he felt like he got hit by a truck. He didn't have a fever, and he looked and sounded fine, but he slept for a good 3 or 4 hours. He seemed okay after that, but still tired, and the next day he was 100% better. He also said his underarm was swollen and tender for a few days.

We've had so many losses in our family already this year, and now it sounds like I may lose another uncle. My mother's oldest brother - he was taken to the hospital a few weeks ago with pneumonia; he was put into a medically-induced coma and intubated. They did get his lungs cleared out, but he won't wake up from the coma (they've tried). We've also been informed that he had a stroke at some point recently. We were told at first that he would recover, but now it's not looking so good.

So my new hobby has kept me busy - I make decoupaged wooden signs. I've always liked those little signs with your town name on them, but I wanted one that said Clearwater and of course I can't get that around here. I looked on Etsy and I liked what I saw, but then I realized that I could make my own. So I started with that and I've sort of taken off with it. I made a flamingo one to go with it...

PXL_20210419_180412222.PORTRAIT.jpg

...and then I followed with one for Spring and on impulse, I did something different and made one with our last initial on it, which I hung next to our family portrait collage.

PXL_20210430_123952202.MP.jpgPXL_20210430_131703012.MP.jpg

Next I'm working on one with our town name, one for Halloween, and one for summer. I enjoy doing it, it's fun!

So I'll answer the
QOTD: DO YOU have any May the 4th ? May the force (be with you)/star wars. Or Cinco de Mayo. ( May the 5th). Traditions ??

I ALWAYS do May the 4th! We love Star Wars here! I always post this photo on FB - it's the Fourth Doctor (from Doctor Who), and I call it "Two Fandoms, One Post"

Star Wars Day Doctor Who.jpg

For Cinco de Mayo, we usually have tacos, but this year my mom has asked if we'd prefer chicken enchiladas. We may take her up on that. I am waiting for DH's usual question about "Is Cinco de Mayo always on May 5th?" (Which he then defends himself with "Well, I don't speak Spanish...")

Wonderful to see a post from you, Apirateslifeforme! :grouphug:You were missed on here. I am truly grateful that you and Josh are able to get out more and enjoy Springier weather. It also sounds like school could not be over soon enough! A hungry child=a hungry child. The end. He needs to be able and encouraged to eat either food he brought or something available at school. I sure pray that situation gets nipped in the bud well before next year. I like your rocks and all-around you are indeed so creative. Prayers and hugs on your mother's oldest brother.

It is such a Blessing to be warm! Not at all cold in the apartment right now, hooray! Extra grateful always on Fridays at this time because it means Dad is home safely for the weekend.

I hope all of you are enjoying the day and some sunshine. Have a good afternoon, friends.

@apirateslifeforme-----glad to see you post again! Sounds like you have been a busy lady. Sorry to hear about your Uncle,,prayers said for him. Glad that Josh is doing good in school, and playing t ball. I love your signs,,if you just started, you are doing very well at them!

Well I decided to mow while it was windy and cool. Got all of the back yard done in 45 min. Did around the sheds, and part of the other side of the driveway. Had a few sprinkles and then the sun came out. I was almost done with the other side of the driveway when out of nowhere down came pouring rain. I ran the mower to the shed, and managed to get back to the house without getting totally soaked. Of course the grass is now too wet to mow again till tomorrow,,but the sun just came back out..this is very weird weather!

Dinner is going to be spaghetti with Italian sausage (hubby nixed the spaghetti pie this time), and a salad. May add some garlic bread to that.

Have a nice rest of the afternoon!

Good afternoon everyone -

decoupaged wooden signs

Wow, those are great! I have zero artistic ability so I'm always in awe of those that can walk into a Michaels and make something cool!

Well I decided to mow while it was windy and cool

It is sunny but super windy here - I'm hoping to mow when I get home, at least get my big tractor mowing done, since it has a cab. The zero turn stuff can wait till tomorrow I suppose, although between you & me I far prefer to do it all at once!

I'll be dining solo this evening so I'm going to have a bit of chicken and some whole roasted garlic cloves, hard irish cheddar w/ a bit of ciabatta bread follwed by some key lime ice cream from the dairy down the road. NOT that I've given it any thought

I understand the sciatica nerve, I have problems with it.

Good afternoon, hope everyone is well. I need ideas for dinner. Same old thing gets old

Good afternoon!

Honestly, we tend to be rather boring with our meals. But with that being said we eat a lot of protein du jour over salad. Chicken, pork tenderloin, beef, venison, fish - whatever we have or are in the mood for. It's a bit of our go-to meal especially in the warmer months when we aren't in the house and it's dark at 5:30! I've also taken to making 1/2 turkey and 1/2 veggie burgers. Pretty much what I have which is usually carrots, spinach, mushrooms and onions. Sometimes green peppers or jalapenos. Shred or dice the vegetables up to you liking and gently toss w/ ground turkey (or chicken or beef or lamb) and grill. Every once in a while I'll put brats or sausages of some type in the crock pot with a lot of bell peppers and onions. Not my thing, but my husband likes it and it reheats easily for leftovers. I make a fair bit of soups and stews as well, albeit often in cooler times. With all that being said, we eat fish about 2-3 times a week at least, and often with fresh spinach and/or with wild or cilantro rice.
Sometimes simple scrambled eggs and toast is on the menu!

I'm guilty of making the same things again and again as I'm not terribly creative when it comes to cooking dinner, but I'm trying to get better!

Good Evening,

Still warm in here, yay :) My church officially announced we have a new interim minister who will (probably) start June 1st. He and his wife live in IN. He once preached out here and then moved. I am pretty sure he's retired now (mid 60's) so this may be a way for them to return to the area. June 6th will mark a return to in person worship (with, of course, restrictions and limits, yet to be shared). I won't be returning as I have shared until all has been normal (or very close to it) for quite a while. I'm glad for those who are able/feel comfortable to attend will soon have that option. Thank you all for your prayers on the church and also for me post pandemic going forward with it (and/or checking out other church options in person).

Stay cozy friends and have a good night's rest :)

Last post on the page, glad I stopped to check in so I could give us a bump!

@apirateslifeforme, so good to hear from you! Glad to hear that Josh is doing well. It's so much fun to watch the younger kids play sports. Sorry to hear about your uncle. Prayers and  's. I just love your new hobby. You've done a great job! They are so cute!

I try and try to cook fish and it never turns out the way I want. Sort of like meatloaf, I can never get it to turn out either.

Wet and cool here today. Lots of water standing in my yard so I know it rained a lot overnight.

Dinner was tacos.
