Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

It is windy and a bit chillier here than the previous days. Tomorrow it is supposed to be 27. I was getting used to the 40s and 50s. At least we will get those temps back by the end of the week.

The time change has made me a bit more tired than usual. It will take a couple of days to get used to it. Even Jasper seems a bit off today. He had his regular vet appointment on Friday. The vet said no one told him he is almost 16. He really gave them a run for their money. They couldn't get a urine sample from him so DH and I were out at 6 am on Saturday morning following him around trying to get one. I finally did get a bit so they can test. All the fun things I get to do! LOL!

Our oldest DGD may go back to the classroom next month. MA is trying to get kids back to the classroom in early April beginning with elementary school. DS wants her to stay with the same teacher so if the teacher goes back to the classroom she will too. If the teacher stays remote then DGD will stay remote. I hope she goes back to school in person. She will love it.

Have a nice Sunday.

I think the time change does it to all of us in some way. LOL at your trying to chase down Jasper for a urine sample..how fun! LOL!
MD has already started kids back in classrooms..I see the busses going down the road in the morning. I think its good for them to get back,,at least safely, they have all missed friends and teachers. WV went back a few weeks ago, and both of our granddaughters are so happy to be back!

Very windy here, but temp is 60. Today is a do nothing day. Just watching the 11 Hawaii 5-O episodes I have on tivo. I miss seeing Alex O'Loughlin on tv every week, this is the only way to get my fix,,lol

Good afternoon, friends :)

:) at Jasper and thank God he is doing so well, Snowysmom. Prayers indeed your DGD can return safely to school.

Glad to hear you are relaxing, Lynn and watching TV. Enjoy :)

It's warmed up here a tiny bit, I am grateful and will take it! Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy but then (I pray) 70 later in the week.

Next Saturday night, starts Hallmark Spring Movies. Hopefully those will be enjoyable. The flowers in the ad for One Perfect Wedding are beautiful. Here's a link to the movies. Hallmark Spring Movies

Good evening all.
A productive day for us, and we are exhausted by it! But, we got a lot done, and a good start to our spring outside clean up that we need to get to each year. We were sore, so we already had a soak in the hot tub w/ a beer and now are in our pajamas, trying to decide on dinner. Feels very wrong to be in for the evening and in pajamas when the sun is shining bright outside, like I'm wasting daylight and not being productive. Time to get my brain re-wired for longer days I guess! We'll get there eventually!

Sounds like the perfect ending to a productive day for you! Enjoy!

I am tired. Being a grandmother is tiring.

DD and family came and DSIL helped DH with what had to be moved. Carter is crawling all over the place now. Tessa played CandyLand with us for a while. (I hate that game.) Had chili, rice, cut veggies and dip, and oatmeal raisin cookies for dessert. Finally everything is cleaned up and away

Earlier in the day we went out to the pharmacy, Home Depot, Dollar Tree, and UDairy Creamery. I waiting in the car at the first two. Needed to get batteries in Dollar Tree. And then my favorite nerd holiday, Pi Day. We had pie a la mode for lunch. We both chose apple pie with ton of toffee ice cream. Sooooo good.

The batteries went into an old toy DH found in the basement left over from our kids. It was like the cockpit of an airplane that you can use the controls. Hard to explain but Tessa enjoyed it.

DD brought me another jigsaw puzzle.

Now to relax. Tomorrow morning is my CT scan. I have to drink contrast at 7:30 and 8:30 and the scan is at 9:30. No breakfast. Might have to have a treat for lunch.

Hello all,

BreezyCarol best wishes for tomorrows test! I'm having my first vaccine on Wed., it almost feels like a graduation or something! I really hope all of you will be able to get a vaccine very soon, if that is something you want.

Gratitudes: a call from DS, he really struggles, but sounded ok today
a call from DD, new Mom, heard more of her "birth at home story" Oh My! I think she if telling me the story in small increments,
because she knows me 🤣

I have been able to read but not respond a whole lot. What can I say it's hard to type with a cat laying across my arms. The cat has decided to go outside though I told her she better come in when grandpa gets home or else she is gonna be in trouble. A little background my now 16 year old raised her along with her sister and 2 brothers from the time they were 10 days old so if she is their mama than I am grandma and DH is grandpa. The cats had better be our only grandchildren for at least another 3-5 years.
A few comments on the last few days of posts here.

Always remember the quickest way to get information on what is a favorite fill in the blank for a parent or other relative is to figure out which child in the family can do the reserach under the guise of a school assignment.

How exciting all the remodeled kitchens and new windows and doors for everyone.

To those who have been dealing with illnesses and headaches and everything else I offer my praysrs.

It has been interesting reading about everyone's experience with the covid vaccines. I am one that due to having had severe reactions to other vaccines can not even think about getting one. They ended up having to give me something to counter act the one given to me after I had a couple of allergic reactions to both a yellowjacket sting and to accidentally eating tomatoes. These were two different incidnts a few years apart.

The yellowjacket was in the summer of 2012 when we had our roof replaced from a severe wind storm and I had the back door open so I could sit at the kitchen table and visit with the then girlfriend of the guy from one of our sister churches who we were having do our roof. The darn yellojacket came in through our back entrance which has our washer and dryer along with a large cupboard and all the cats food and litter box into the kitchen and stung me on the leg. I thought since it was there and not on my face or neck I would just have a raised bump for a while and used my drivers license to scrape out the stinger.
I had my friend double check that it was out and she said it was. DH had gone to work by this time so it was just me and the girls at home when our friends J and V left after finishing up with the roof. I mentioned to DH that I had gotten stung when he called on his meal break but I was doing fine though taking it easy. We had eaten our larger meal of the day before he left for work with J and V joining us around our table for a time of fellowship. V had helped me get the kitchen cleaned up and I had planned something simple for the girls and me to eat so there wouldn't be a whole lot of clean up to do. More in likely I ended up making a box of macaroni and cheese or else cheese quasadillas for us to eat.
By the time DH got home sometime around 3 in the morning I was starting to feel a tingling in my mouth and around my lips. By 9:30-10 it was getting to the point where I could feel my throat closing up so I woke DH and he got himself and the girls ready while I managed to get some clothes on and he took me into the clinic to see our regular doctor. To be honest I probally should have gone to the emergency room when he got home but I didn't want to have to either get one of our moms up to take the girls especially where now 13 year old has always been hard to get to go to sleep or having to take them with us so I didn't. DH had called our regular clinic to find out if we should go to the ER as they can call ahead and let them know we are on our way, but they said to just come on into them as it would be faster. The clinic is a lot closer to our house and they are not having to deal with a lot of other emergncies that would have put me down on the priority list.
I ended up going into a reaction to the medication they gave me to counteract the allergic reaction within half an hour so they ha d to give me something else and continue to monitor me. They were seriously thinking about having me transfered to the hospital via the ambulance serivice but by the grace of God I came out of it. It would not surpside me if my mother in law had not activated a few church prayer chains when DH had called her to let her know that he would be dropping the girls off really quick if I was transfered so he could go and be with me.
The reason they had not sent us home initially is they were waiting to see if the swelling on my leg had gone down or if they were going to need to give me more medication.
The accidental eating of a food I was allergic took took place in the later part of July 2019. My now 16 year old and I had gone to town to pick up some items for finishing up some fair projects that were needing to be finished for judging day in less than a week. Since I owed her a lunch with Mama we had gone in early and at her request went to the store of a national pizza chain in town with plans to go and do our shopping afterwards.
We ordered our pizza with a request to use a white sauce instead of the marinara sauce along with my emphasising to them that I was allergic so that if they accidentally put the wrong sauce on and than double checked the order they would start a new one instead of scrapping it off. Our order came and I took a bite of my first slice that I thought was safe. Immediately I started feeling my mouth go all weird with my tongue starting swell and my throat start to close up. My daughter called for our server who got the manager. She was telling them my mama can't breath she is allergic to tomatoes. I had my card out fo make the payment but the manager told us that everything was on the house and to go so we could get me to the clinic. They honestly should have called the ambulance service because if I had completely passed out not only would my oldest daughter and myself been in danger so would everyone else on the not quite 2 mile drive who was on the road. I am guessing that they might have thought that my daughter was old enough to drive. This time I ended up reacting within less than 10 minutes so they had to give me something to counter act the reaction. They were looking at having to give me another dose but luckily they didn't. We ended up having to spend over 90 minutes at the clinic that should have been time finishing eating as well as getting the shopping done we needed to do.
My daughter had the presence of mine to call her dad and let him know what was going on so that he could make plans to have someone look after our now 13 year old if we were not able to get home in time before he had to go to work. For some reason he could not get a hold of either my mom or my mother in law so the plan was to have him bring our youngest to the clinic and my oldest would watch her in the waiting room. He was actually on his way to the clinic when they said I was stable enough to go home but since I had to pick up a steroid perscription they gave me and my older daughter had realized she left something at the pizza place she called him to meet us at the pizza place instead of at the clinic. My oldest and I got there a bit ahead of DH and younger daughter so we went inside and when she asked about the item she had left the manager asked if we had time to give some information for the report that would need to be done. We did so my oldest went out to the vehicle I was driving to wait so she could take care of her sister as we were not going to be staying long and my youngest would want something to eat there. DH came in for a short period of time to check with me and tell me good bye before he had to head to work. The pizza place had actually boxed up our order for us after we left so my daughter took that out with her getting out to the vehicle I was driving when DH pulled up. She got her sister moved from DH's car to the car I was driving while DH came into me. Naturally we still needed to finish the shopping so I used one of the driving carts and my oldest pushed her sister in one of the other carts to keep younger daughter from deciding to wander off. Luckily we did not have much to get as I ended up crashing from the effects of the medication even worse than a caffine crash when a double shot of espresso in an ice latte wears off and was glad I was home and in my chair when it did. Sometime this week I need to get the letter written as to what amount I want for the settlement from the pizza place's insurance company. I have gotten an offer from them and now we are in the bargaining stage where I need to say what I want-I have a number based on a free phone consult I have had with a lawyer I ended up finding though the legal program we have as an optional benefit through DH's employer-we have to pay for the optional benefit but the cost is much lower than if we got this benefit outside of his employer due to the employer working out a group rate opposed to the individual rate for us.
These were after I had an allergic reaction to the one and only flu shot which I got in the mid 90s. My arm ended up swollen so much I could not get my arm in a shirt or my unmentionable on. I could have worn one of those mens tank tops that are really open on the sides but let's just say I am well larger than a size 0-2, not at all tiny you know where, and besides something like that is totally impractical in MT in the middle of November. Luckily my suite mate was nice about getting me meals from the cafeteria in the girls dorm I was living in. One of the private schools in my area had such a low enrollment and as a lot of their students were married with families only a small handful had to live in the dorms so their dorms were open to students from other schools. Since those cost about a third what it cost to stay at the dorms of the school I was attending I just rented a room there. The rooms for the girls dorm were in suites which consisted of 2 rooms that each had a sink in them and a bathroom containing a toilet and a shower inbetween which could only be accessed from the rooms. We had a laundry area which was free to use (no coins needed which was really nice), a tv room, and a small kitchen which was a fridge and a microwave. Originally there was a toaster oven but the dorm parents that started that year the dorm mother or should I say grandmother because he was in his 80s and she was in her 70s decided that we might burn down the place with having a toaster oven and took it out. Made it fun for the evenings and weekends as there was only cafeteria service Monday-Friday for breakfast and lunch. I had an easier time than most as I was good friends with the couple that was the much younger dorm (like in their mid to late 20s and closer to my age) parents of the mens dorm so I could go inside the mens dorm as far as their apartment door which was the first door inside the outside door. The dorm parents apartments consisted of a sitting room and kitchen combination, a bathroom, and a bedroom. they had a smaller sink in the bedroom so that one could be brushing their teeth while the other one was using the bathroom or making a meal. I usually ended up eating my evening meal on the campus of the school I was attending as I often had evening classes or something with either Chi Alpha or InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Saturday nights my then boyfriend now DH and I would go out on a date (this was back when we were first starting to date though we have only been married since 2004 as he kept procrastinating popping the question-meanwhile I had issues of brides and bridal guide for months though not this early) and Sundays after church I often ended up at his parents table. Anyways during those days my suite mate would get me food and would come and knock on my door which I was able to keep unlocked. I would go in the bathroom and shut the door while she brought the food in along with my card which I had usually just cracked the door open for her to take downstairs-the cafeteria was in the basement of the women's dorm though men were only allowed to come in the entrance door and go down the stairs not upstairs to the girls quarters though we would have conversations with them standing in the entryway and us up in the laundry area. She would then go to her side and go in her room and knock on the bathroom door to let me know she was done. I would unlock the latch on both sides from the inside of the bathroom and tell her thank you and go have my meal. Once the swelling of my arm went down enough I could get a shirt on it was back to class for me and of course a visit to the campus health department. First question the doctor asked was are you allergic to eggs. When I said no in fact I eat eggs 3-5 times a week he told me to never get a flu shot again. After my having the reactions to the shots they had to give me both times I have had an allergic reaction the doctor I see now as the one from the campus eventaully ended up going to the VA told me not to get another vaccination unless it was for an allergic reaction or I needed a tetnus shot and I had better avoid rusty nails. I am also to avoid the tomatoes and while I can do my best to avoid yellowjacket and related insect stings like the wasps sometimes it is not as easy to do. I did ask about the possibility of getting a vaccine back when we took 13 year old in for her annual appointment and the answer was with your history of reactions and the number of medications your allergic to it would be strongly advisable not. (Let's just say my answer when they ask if I have any medication allegies is it would be a much shorter list if I tell you what I am not allergic to except they want the entire list or at least they did before the computerized system lets them just pull it up easily).
I know my mom has gotten the vaccine as part of the 1B group here which includes those age 70 and older. I would have been eligible this round as well with my BMI being well over the limit they have set. My sister got hers as part of group 1A becuase of her working as an athletic trainer as well as a patient assistant on the clinic side of the orthopedic office she works at and who handles the contracts with the schools for their athletic training with the exception of the state university branch here and until recently one of the high schools though since the teacher both she and I had retired that school is now on the list as well.
If you made it through go have a treat or at least give yourself a pat on the back.

Good morning QUACK'ers. A bit chilly again this morning and only going into the 50's, but still better than 'winter' weather.

I am a little mystified this morning. Checked our bank account as I normally do every other day. I see 2 "stimulus deposits" but only $2 for me and $4 for hubby..what a joke that is,,why bother? We got full amounts on the first and second, no reason why this one should not be the same. We haven't filed our taxes yet (he was waiting for stimulus so they would base it on 2019 income), so it can't be that. And we don't anywhere near the higher income brackets, not even close!

Edited just now to add---when I checked the 'where's my money' link earlier,,it said not enough info, or don't qualify...just checked again now and it says both full amounts will be deposited on Wed the 17'th. No wonder I am confused. Maybe the small amount was a test to make sure they had the right accounts? But that didn't happen the last 2 times, so it really threw me. I am still not spending it till I see it in there, lol! If it is..new carpeting will be going down after painting!

Today I will start Spring cleaning the spare bedroom, if my headache goes away.
At the bottom is a new picture of Mateo,,what a cutie that little guy is!

Have a nice morning everyone!

Good morning all.

Whew - it was windy yesterday afternoon & evening in our area, as it was I'm guessing in many folks areas!
It was so weird for it to be so dark this AM when we got up, oh well - will soon be normal again I suppose. Sounds like the gates are going up on the new fence today - we need one regular fence, one 10' fence and one special fence that attaches to the side of the walk out basement garage brick wall. Hopefully the fence itself arrives this week, they are having supply issues (it's rampant in the construction industry as a whole which I'm sure anyone who has tried to buy lumber has found out!) but I'm sure it will work out.

Eldest got his pre-approval from his mortgage guy and so they are on the hunt, it's to bad there isn't much in terms of 'starter home' type houses around here and inventory is going so fast - but they'll find something I'm sure. As soon as eldest moves out of the apartment on the farm, youngest hopes to take it over as his 'spot' so to speak when he is home during his next deployment- he will be stationed within 90 minutes (minus shore traffic) from us and plans on living out of a hotel (Army's decision) during the deployment and coming home during his off days.

Dinner this evening is venison tenderloin w/ a baked potato & spinach salad, tomorrow is seafood delivery day so cod en papillote has been ordered, Wednesday will be pork chops slow cooked in tomatoes & peppers. This coming weekend we may venture out for dinner and meet youngest and his new lady friend, whom we have yet to meet. Haven't really been out since the beginning of Feb. when we were last in Florida.
I'm still trying to figure out some bulbs I planted last fall - not daffodils or grape hyacinths, which are the only thing I remember planting. Not hostas cause I wouldn't have planted them in this particular area... I've got 7 or 8 coming up around my magnolia and I'm dying to see what they end up being! There are a few in another area as well. I can't believe I didn't write down or remember what I planted! I'm wondering if maybe they are tulips? Got all the decorative grasses, rose of sharon & butterfly bushes whacked back this weekend, so now we sit back and wait for mowing season to begin I guess. We have several acres that need their yearly spring bush hog and that will happen either this coming weekend or next, depending on weather and if I'm so inclined or not!

Back to work for me, have a good morning all -

Good morning.

Back from my scan and it was certainly nothing to have worried about. I had a little trouble drinking the contrast this morning but otherwise, quick and easy. Thanks for all of your good thoughts.

Now I have the rest of the day with no plans.

Good Morning All,

Rainy and cold Monday here. Last night someone set off about 8 fireworks that combined with the time change made it a little harder for me to fall asleep but thank God I did get rest :)

Part of yesterday's worship service spoke of words that begin "dis" in relation to describing the last year. Yes, I, too, felt disconnection and disappointment. What made me smile is thinking about the flip side. Discovery! (Being much more centered and at peace, health and spirit has certainly led to closer discovery and connections with friends, Dad, and of course God). Then there is another happy Dis as in DIS Family=all of you. As this thread comes close to being a year old, with all my heart, thank you friends again for your faith, friendship, support, and care. God Bless You all. 🐥

Brilliant!

I love that!

This morning was a bit tiring (I don't adjust well to the time change) but fun - the kids made "leprechaun traps" and wrote about what they would do if they caught one. I've been saving recycling items for a week or two - boxes, paper towel tubes, etc. - and they had a blast building with them.
