Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Thanks @flyingdumbo127. It is just stressful dealing with all the mess and hiccups right now. I am trying to keep my sense of humor though. I joked with my husband that I don't need a stress test, everyday is a new stressor for me and I keep on kicking.

My mom wound up in the ER last night because she was in so much pain. They said she has gastroenteritis. Took all her favorite foods away from her. She thinks possibly forever. She does need to see a GI doctor for a follow-up so maybe it won't be as bad as she thinks.

I may be meeting a friend for dinner tonight. I'm still not comfortable with restaurants but I only take the mask off to eat. Usually we go through a pot or 2 of coffee. If I can't drink it through a straw I'm not drinking it. I cannot wait for a more normal life again.

Happy Birthday to Lily, Lynxstch. I pray she has a fun and positive day. Continued prayer for her in general, of course, too! Hugs, my friend. Sometimes the choices others make sure don’t make safe sense to us. I pray they will all be safe this evening. Yikes to your ever-changing (in a dramatic fashion—black sky) weather!

We are here and care, Taz Dev. I’m sorry about your Mom. Prayers for her and always, you as well! Keeping a sense of fun and humor is so important especially right now! I also can’t wait until things are normal again. I pray every day for this pandemic to be over for all forever!

I couldn't get into Bottled With Love. I did enjoy A Summer Romance (about a Montana ranch).

:grouphug:to all.

While still windy,,it's full sun and our temp is 52,,that's higher than it's been in months! Supposed to be even nicer tomorrow. Plan on going grocery shopping , filling the car with gas (it might take about 4 gallons, lol) and either going through the car wash if the line isn't a mile long, or hooking up a hose, turning on the water and doing it myself..I do a better job than the car wash anyhow..lol

Good afternoon.

Had an appointment with PCP today. Finally have my BP down to a number she approves so I don't have to go back for 6 months.

Then after lunch we drove to DH's sister's house about 50 minutes away in PA to take some assistive devices and a wheelchair. The drive through past snowy fields was very pretty. Her DH is in the hospital with several medical issues and had a fall. Our house is a medical supply house after I collected things from my parents, DH's parents, and years of doing PT. Stopped at a Giant grocery store to get a few things I can't get at my Food Lion.

The day turned sunny and warm enough, 48, to be pleasant. I think we are going to drive to the ocean tomorrow as it is predicted to be 50 and sunny.

Planning to watch The Beach House at 7. Thanks Mona for mentioning it.

Hooray for that Carol..that's great news!

We lost our Food Lion when it turned into a Weis..and I don't care for that store. Their produce is awful and their prices are 2x higher than everyone else. I love Giant,,but only for sales items. They do have good meat, but it's on the expensive side most of the time. It is on my list for tomorrow, as they have their store made chicken pot pies on sale this week, and they are soooo good!

Good day for a drive to the ocean..but it will be even warmer here, at almost 60! Enjoy the drive!

The plumbing is fixed. The floors go down over the next couple of days and the sun is shining. I think it was a good day.

Hooray for the plumbing being fixed and your floors going down soon. Still waiting for my handyman to come back from his FL vacation to put ours down. I think I could do it, but hubby doesn't want me to even try, lol!

And the best news ever - I get to meet LJ today or tomorrow. I cannot wait to finally meet my sweet baby.

:cheer2: that you get to meet LJ..take a lot of pics and share a few with us, pretty please!!

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

Daily Gratitudes:
  • The weather warming up.
  • A partial reimbursement on something we were hoping for but weren't sure would work out.
  • And that a minor disaster wasn't much worse. (A shelf fell off the wall, but only one thing was broken beyond repair, and more importantly, nobody was near it to be hit!)

Came back to add to my earlier post and grateful to have read your Tuesday gratitudes, PollyannaMom, thanks for sharing :) I sure am glad no one got hit and how cool to get some semi surprising reimbursement, as well.

Mail came delivered by our regular carrier who Dad even said hi, too. I'm grateful for that and that he brought me a package of a few books from paperbackswap, too. I don't completely feel comfortable ordering used books right now but this was a member I had gotten books from before which makes my concern less. Plus, lol I wipe down each book anyway.

I am also grateful for warmer weather the last couple of days. We are inching closer to Spring! 🌷

Almost to the bottom of page 1.

I have not been doing well with my gratitudes.
Sunday - I am grateful that I got to see everyone Sunday.
Monday - I am grateful that I got to watch the grands yesterday.
Today - I am grateful that my BP is better controlled.

I watched The Beach House. It was good but I had read it so recently that the characters didn't look how I imagined them. I could anticipate what should happen and missed the parts they left out. Lovie didn't look as old and as sick as I imagined. The house was in better condition. I guess a book is always going to be more detailed.

Off to bed soon.

Sorry you were disappointed in the movie, Carol. I have not read the book in years but agree that Lovie was older! I think Cara, the daughter was at least mid 40's, wasn't she? I'll watch the beginnings of it in a little while and go from there on whether to DVR.

As I was sitting on the couch earlier, all cozy, I thought of a wintry QOTD for this evening: What's on your favorite cozy throw blanket?

I stay cozy on the couch throughout the day, courtesy of a full size fleece throw blanket with a reindeer and snowman print. Dad got this blanket a few years ago at JC Penney for a real bargain price of I believe under a couple dollars. The blanket was on sale plus we had gone to the store early that particular morning before open so we would get one of the free $10 off $10 coupons being handed out as soon as 10am rolled around! Penney's often did this and because they didn't open until 10, getting there usually even at 9:30 meant you got a coupon so no need to stand around for a long time super early which neither of us would have done. How about all of you? What's your go-to couch blanket right now? :)

Wishing all of you a good night's rest.

@lynxtch, medical supply places around here have them in different sizes. When my mom got one 10 years ago, medicare paid for most of it.

My favorite cozy throw blanket is a blue down filled quilted blanket with snowmen on it. I found it at Target probably 15 years ago and it still keeps us warm after many washings. I second most favorite is an blue, green and white plaid lightweight blanket made out of Alpaca. I bought it at a Christmas market three years ago for my mom. I'm not fond of fleece blankets or fleece of any kind. The material makes my skin crawl.

The kids went back to preschool today. They were so excited! I had put Command Strip hooks up for their back packs the other day. Lou Lou was just fascinated with them and admired her back pack hanging up many times. She was so ready to get it down today and put her bento box inside. I forgot to give them a water bottle and had to run it up to the preschool. Barely made it to my eye doctor appointment. My eyes got a good checkup, I'm good till next year.

DS is back at our house for a couple of days. The kids are delighted that Mack, the dog, is back for a visit. They run the poor thing ragged though. DS and I spent about two hours on the phone with a Quickbooks tech. For some reason I can't email invoices any more straight from Quickbooks. We've spoken with two techs and the second one is supposed to call back tomorrow and see if we can figure it out. Neither tech sounded like they know what the problem is, I hope that someone can help us.

I missed my first opportunity to get the vaccine. I received an email around 10:30 while I was at the eye doctor and didn't see it until an hour later. I did receive a follow up email saying that my name was still on the list though and to keep checking back on the link in case someone didn't show up.

Today's gratitude - that my son was here to help me talk to the Quickbook techs.

Good morning all! Chilly out at 29, but they say we will get into the 60's! That to me is a sure sign of Spring not being far away.

Thanks @Kirby, for your medical supply place, going to check into them. We don't have any that are 'local', so may have to call a bit farther out. I did find out that Medicare pays if you have a Drs prescription, but you must have -and this is from the Medicare site--severe arthritis in your knee or hip or you have a neuromuscular condition --neither of which hubby has. That will take more looking into. I had to laugh at your line about Lou Lou and her backpack hanging by command strips that she was so intrigued by. I'm surprised she didn't take it on and off the wall about 100 times yesterday, lol!

I took trash down to the curb, have my grocery list made and will be heading out around 10. 3 stops to make, plus maybe a stop at the local furniture store to see what they have in stock. I am not special ordering something and waiting months for it!
Have a great day everyone,,enjoy the nice weather if it's finally returning to 'your neck of the woods'02a0927b7ba305fb3f94572f069dc51c.jpg

Morning all. It is turning out to be a really nice day with temps in the mid 50's. Hopefully the snow will be melting away and Spring will start to move in.

I didn't get to dinner with my friend yesterday but I wasn't disappointed. I made a bunch of meals to get us through the next week or 2 til the kitchen is fully functioning so we had some of that for dinner. My grandson had his regular job yesterday and didn't get home til 7:30 so I didn't get to see LJ. I did get to hear him in the background though. LJ was so excited to hear his Daddy's voice and that was wonderful to hear. My grandson was telling me some stories about the baby and to hear how happy he is to be a father is wonderful.

Jay said I can visit on Thursday as his father is helping him move something today and his step-mother will be there too. As much as his step-mother has been like Lady Tremaine to him at times, he realizes this is as close to being a grandmother that she will probably get. My other grandson is autistic and may never be able to function in the world on his own. Like I have always said Jay is more mature than the adults that raised him. He also wants me to be able to have a good visit with LJ where I am the only one there so I can spend more time with him one on one.

The kitchen is progressing but a word of warning - wear a mask when sanding. My mild asthma is acting up. I have to get the walls for the backsplash prepped and sanding is very dusty!!! The alcove for the fridge needs some paint now that the fridge is moved out of the way so that will be on the agenda today.

QOTD I don't actually have a throw blanket anymore. I rarely get that cold. When I was younger I wore layers in the winter and a heavy coat. Now I am content in a turtleneck and T-shirt with a hoodie jacket when I go out, even in the weather we had last week in the low 20's. I even have the window on my side of the bedroom open because I get so hot. When I did have a throw it was usually one of the nice cotton woven ones from Disney. I actually still have a couple.

My husband who used to wear a sweatshirt in the coldest of weather now huddles under a Phillies fleece, a Penn State fleece and a blanket my mom made on the couch and needs a heavier comforter for bed.

Just as I was ready to post this my mom called. She fell on her way home and got really banged up. Her glasses are broke not that she could put them on because her nose is swollen. She also has some scrapes and cuts on her face. Of course she won't call the doctor. She is one stubborn woman. I told her if she starts having trouble breathing or gets a bad headache she better call her doctor but she won't. I think a visit down there later today is in order. People really need to understand that their property needs to be maintained. She tripped on uneven pavement.

Oh well Hopefully the rest of today will be better.

Good Morning Quacker friends.

The Beach House movie didn't engage me much at all. The characters from what I remembered from the book came across as "off." Oh well. I hope those of you who did watch, enjoyed.

Kids are fascinated by anything and everything, aren't they, Kirby? So precious. I can just picture Lou Lou gazing at those hooks. ITA with Lynn that I am surprised she didn't yank them down! So glad they got to go back to preschool :)

By now, i hope your errands are mostly done, Lynn. 60's is definitely headed in the right direction!

Love your Mickey blanket, Sparkle thank you for sharing a picture and everyone for your cozy throw shares as well.

Oh Taz Dev, hugs. I am so sorry to hear about your Mon. You and your family have sure been through the wringer. Many prayers

Have a good Wednesday, everyone!

QOTD: Throw blankets....
We have two on the couch, usually hubby uses one and I use the other. One is a blanket crocheted by a friend of mine, it's so soft. The other is a nice warm fleece blanket with tacos trucks all over it. LOL My boss gave it to me because tacos are my thing... :lmao:

This morning someone else was enjoying both of them...:sad2::laughing:
