Thank you everyone for the support for Jasper. I have good news on the little guy. He turned the corner yesterday afternoon. The vet called and said he was eating, walking, no fever, and not coughing as much. It will take 6-8 weeks to fully recover from the pneumonia. Then they have to address the liver enzymes which could be due to being on prednisone. They may do what they call a wash in the area of the lung where the pneumonia was to see if they can culture the bacteria. So, he still has some testing ahead of him. But, he is currently home and napping in his chair. We are so happy. He has to take it easy, no walks or stairs or playing until he sees the doctor in a week and a half. It has been a roller coaster ride (not the good kind) with going from the worst to the best in the matter of a day. Coming here to talk about it has been very helpful. I appreciate everyone on this thread. Jasper says thanks too.

Pets really do take hold of our hearts. In reading the stories of everyone's pets and their legacy I see all the love and care for our furry family.

Today it is snowing here. We got about 3 inches of snow. DH had to go shovel the walkway and the driveway and clean off the car. Too early for this. I wonder if it is sign of things to come. So far this year we have only had 4 months without snow: June, July, Aug, and Sept. I am sure we will see some in Nov and Dec. More from 2020.

Happy Friday.

Well - my work week is about at a end. It seemed that this week was just one gloomy day after another. I'm thinking the weekend will end that way as well.
No big Halloween plans for us. Well, we've got to go to a relatives house while their kid trick or treats. It seemed like a fun idea 6 weeks ago when we agreed to come over, but between you & me it's honestly the last thing we feel like doing! We're going to go...and try not to be looking at our watches. It's about 40 minutes away AND we harbor hopes be being home by 8ish. Fingers crossed - little kids running around all highed up on The Sugar while their parents ignore them isn't our scene. eh - it's our own fault for agreeing to the invitation so now we gotta suck it up. Can you tell I'm not looking forward to it?!?!?! I know, I need to lighten up a bit...I'm going to try. I promise:laughing:
Other than that we've got a stop at Lowes to make and that about rounds out our weekend I think. Yesterday I made the wrenching decision to switch from DirecTV to Dish - was with DirecTV for 19 years and had no issue with them, except that they had gotten so much more expensive! I can cut my bill down by $70, and $70 is $70. I called DirecTV to ask them if they'd just meet the price Dish gave me and I'd stay. Nope, they offered me $10 off for a few months and free Sunday Football which they already gave us for for staying with them thru Covid. So, I walked. Now I've got like 2 weeks to watch the stuff on my DVR that we recorded!
I've got absolutely nothing planned for dinner. Nothing out of the freezer, I may even been out of eggs. Yikes - I just realized I am out of creamer. Guess I'll be hitting the grocery store tomorrow morning. I REALLY need to get on the ball with grocery lists and proper suppers again.
Hope everyone has a nice, safe, fun Halloween who is doing Halloween! Enjoy your Friday evening everyone -

sleepwear QOTD for Friday, 10/30: What are your go to Pajamas and what about slippers?

I usually wear sleep shirts for sleeping. I do have fleece pants and tops for lounging around late in the day or early evening when it gets dark early in the late Fall and Winter. I wear slipper socks to keep my feet warm in the winter. I love having toasty warm feet.

@Snowysmom Seeing the good news about Jasper made me first tear up, and then smile. So glad he's on the mend!!!!
Your post about snow made me go WOW..you are right..too early for that. I don't even want to think about having to clean off the car, driveway, walks et for at least another month. Would make me happy if it didn't snow till next April!
I was going to mow the lawn for the last time and put the mower away, but it was still too wet from yesterday. The sun was out, but it only got to 54, we just had a rain shower, and now it's windy and you can feel the cold front moving in.
Hubby got a call from HR that one of the workers at one of his houses, tested positive for covid, so all the workers and consumers there had to go and get tested. I am so glad hubby hasn't been to any of the houses since March! We are hoping all test negative, he and 3 other managers spent most of the afternoon trying to figure out the schedules since they got all thrown off by this. And luckily he's not the on call person till next Monday , when it will be his last time having to be it, before retiring.
Grocery shopping and errands tomorrow..hubby's birthday is Thursday and I have to find him a few gifts (he is one of those who doesn't want anything, until the day before, when he starts thinking of things, lol!

@easyas123 You are right..$70 is $70, but that stinks that Dish wouldn't price match Direct tv :( Hope you get through all of your shows watched. Been there done that..when we had to switch to a new dvr, we had to hurry and watch so many things, and ended up erasing a whole bunch of them. But at least you are going to have it for when new shows start!

QOTD..I have slip on mukluks and bootie mukluks, and I have been known to wear fuzzy socks with both of them. I go through slippers a lot, as I tend to just keep them on my feet and walk outside with them on, lol! I got 2 pairs of mukluks at Gabriel Brothers about a month ago..and paid $16 for both pairs,,which was less than half off what Kohls had one pair of them on clearance for for last year lol!
Have a great Friday night everyone!

QOTD for Friday, 10/30: What are your go to Pajamas and what about slippers?

Usually PJ pants and t-shirts (short or long sleeves, depending on the weather). I used to love night gowns as a kid, but I don’t like them now. In winter, I go with fuzzy slippers, but I wear short socks in the house even in the summer.

Alright! That's great news about Jasper!

Yes, wonderful news!!! I’m so glad he’s doing better.:dog:

We were among the snow crowd today. The kids I tutor were soooo excited!

😍 to the Jasper report, and praise God. I am so happy to hear he's turned a corner, Snowysmom, yay!

$70 is a ton of money! I am also sorry Easyas123 that Dish would not price match. I have Spectrum out here. Really do have to be so careful each month to look over bills because sometimes Spectrum has an unkind way of either dropping channels or adding fees both without notice. Definitely thankful for TV especially during this plague.

Wow to all the snow reports and pictures! Hard for me to imagine that here but from far away pretty to look at. Keep safe and warm please, everyone!

PollyannaMom, seems like we have a similar pajama preference lol. I always wear socks in the house and to bed unless it is HOT.

Waving hi and sending a hug to all :)

Happy to read Jasper is doing better!! ❤

Happy Halloween!! 🎃👻🍁🍂

It is a little disheartening to look out my window today, too, to see snow on my car, but we will deal with it! Yesterday was awful driving in a blustery mess of rain and snow. Walking in it did a number on my hair, too! 😬

I decided I am going to put tonight’s candy in individual bags (Dollar Tree had lots), so after my coffee and shower this morning, I will start on that. @easyas123 I hope you get through tonight ok :lmao: . We should look into switching cable out for something, I just don’t know what. We are talking about it, though. Bills are ridiculous! @PollyannaMom your yard looks a lot like mine!

DD’s coworkers will be happy today!

Good morning and Happy Halloween. There was definitely frost on the pumpkins last nite, and on the ground. It's 32 degrees outside, going to be sunny and 51 later on. Sorry for those of you who got snow and don't like it. I don't either, but it hopefully will be awhile before we get any. I have a friend in Western MA who just told me it's 22 degrees there and they have 3" of snow on the ground..yikes! Off to do grocery shopping and errands. Have a great day, and don't eat all the candy before tonite!2184429-bigthumbnail.jpg

Good Morning, Everyone! I do thank all of you making individual bags of candy for kids, that is very sweet of you to do :) Have a safe and fun day. Now snow, of course here, but probably 90 or so! Stay safe and warm all. Bills for most everything are crazy high these days indeed!

I looked yesterday, it's been over a month since our friend Tina posted. Many prayers she and her family are well. Kirby and Heidi and anyone else, we have not heard from in a while, too! Meriweather, I hope you had/are still having a fun trip!

If I remember correctly, Tina was considering taking a new job?? Hopefully, she's just busy.
I haven't seen Heidi in a while, but Kirby just posted on Thursday - a couple of pages ago. :)

I hope so, PollyannaMom, thanks for that! Heidi, I do remember has a young daughter so she is probably caught up in schooling during a plague like so many! LOL, I promise usually I am Blessed with a very good memory. Every now and the during these plague filled days....time and memory gets and feels weird! Thank you also for the Kirby info :)

Bright sunshine and 52 degrees here. Just mowed the whole lawn, again. I swear, I keep saying this will be the last time, and the darn grass just keeps growing :( Also put fresh batteries in all the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and changed the clocks that we aren't directly looking at all the time and changed the watches and car clock. Will set the rest before we go to bed tonite.
Did grocery shopping this morning. Aldi's was pretty empty, Walmarts parking lot was almost full, yet the guy 'counting' on the tablet when I asked him what # I was said #266. There were a heck of a lot more people than that in there. Once again, I got the last 40 lb box of Special Kitty litter on the shelf. I also got the last 250 count Great Value package of paper napkins. What on earth is everyone doing stockpiling paper napkins? Candy rows were still decimated, glad I didn't need any!
Have a nice Halloween evening everyone. Don't forget..Daylight savings time ends tonite, so set your clocks back an hour. We get an extra hour of sleep, but now it will be dark out by 5:30..I hate that!

I also hope that @lovemygoofy (Tina) and Matt are both doing well and that she checks in when she is able to!

Our thread is second to last! :(

Lynxstch, I wrote down on a calendar to change the smoke alarm battery today! I do remember when this first started napkins were very hard find possibly because paper towels were even more of a rare sighting! As an FYI, Smart and Final has a bigger package of everyday napkins that we get all the time. Nothing fancy but definitely works! I also am not a fan of this time change in particular except that it does mean the Holy season of Advent is coming closer and so is Christmas Day.

I picked up a giant package of Vanity Fair napkins about a month or two ago from Costco. When I was there last week they still had them...maybe if anyone has a Costco near them they can find some there.

I survived Halloween @ my BIL's. AND we were home by 8:15! A Halloween miracle:lmao:

Picked up a new rug for the sitting room (finally) and two new humidifiers for the season at Lowes this afternoon. Chilly and damp leading into flat out rain tomorrow.

Been reading about the lockdowns in Wales, Ireland and France. Now I read England is locking down for a month and NY state or city is implementing some sort of testing procedure for anyone entering...I told my husband I was starting to get a bad feeing. I hope I'm proved wrong. At the moment I'm just hoping to get thru this week in one (mental) piece!

Hope everyone had a safe & fun Halloween-

I'm so glad you're home, Easyas123!

:( I've also read that. I have been reminding my Dad that we need to keep somewhat of stockpile of harder to find items (such as soup) along with one extra package of paper towels and TP (unless we get the mega roll size) Once the cooler weather (it must, right, even here in LA)? sets in for real along with possibly even rain, I pray he'll cut back going out from 2-3 times a week to twice at most! Some weeks perhaps just once, no reason for going out then more often. Trying to keep calm, always, and in all ways, my faith, while being practically prepared as best I can!

I'm so glad tomorrow is November (closer to getting the election over with)! Also, of course, one, if even, small step forward toward brighter days for all.

Sweet Dreams!

We are safely back home after a very nice week. Because we didn’t spend all day on the beach, we did things we normally don’t have time for. And ate carry out from different restaurants.

Watched Maryland football last night. It had a great ending after coming from behind to tie it for an overtime win.

We got home, unloaded the car, turned on the water and heat, then drove to DD’s house to see the grandkids dressed up for Halloween. We didn’t worry about candy at home because the last 2-3 years have brought only 1 or 2 Tricker or treaters.

I am cheating and quoting to remember what I wanted to comment on,

Good Friday morning all--last Friday in October. When I was a kid , tonite would be called "cabbage night'. Kids would go around throwing cabbages, eggs, TP'ing trees and houses. I don't think that exists anymore?
There used to be mischief night on the 30th - soaping Windows, TPing houses, throwing eggs. Now I just see smashed pumpkins.

Sleepwear QOTD for Friday, 10/30: What are your go to Pajamas and what about slippers?
I like 100% cotton nightshirts/gowns, like T shirt material but has to be 100% cotton. I have sleeveless, short sleeve, and long sleeve for various times of year. And I wear long underwear pants with them in the winter, For slippers I wear flip flops in the warm months and a pairs of lined Crocs in the cooler months.

Yesterday I made the wrenching decision to switch from DirecTV to Dish - was with DirecTV for 19 years and had no issue with them, except that they had gotten so much more expensive!
I hope you don’t have trouble cancelling. When mil moved to assisted living, DH had such a hard time getting the Direct TV turned off and cancelled in the house she was selling.

I also got the last 250 count Great Value package of paper napkins. What on earth is everyone doing stockpiling paper napkins?
I have noticed a lack of napkins at our Food Lion also.

.I told my husband I was starting to get a bad feeing. I hope I'm proved wrong. At the moment I'm just hoping to get thru this week in one (mental) piece!
I am also concerned for the winter and am stockpiling food some. And I plan to shop Monday as I am concerned for what may happen after the election, either way it goes.

Better set some clocks and go to bed.
