@Pea-n-Me That pie looks yummy..I'll take a slice please..but put chocolate ice cream on mine, lol! Glad that your new Ipad and stand are working out well for you!

I quit for the day. Just vac'd the carpet downstairs, took 2 bags of trash to the shed, and finished laundry. Looks like the rain is going to start any minute now. Our back yard looks funny with those 2 trees gone, especially the big black walnut one. Wood guy says it looked like it got hit by lightning. One side still had 2 branches that were alive with leaves, the rest was beyond dead. What a mess that one made when he dropped it, but he cleaned it all up, every little bit. Neighbor is going to come and take the HUGE pieces and cut them up and let them sit for 6 months to dry out. I didn't want to be bothered with it! I am off to sit and do nothing, for at least 2 hours, lol.

Good afternoon.

@Pea-n-Me , I’m glad you enjoyed the lighthouse picture and history. I forget, what part of the country are you from? And I’ll have a slice of pie too.

@lynxstch , take a break. Watch some football.

DS called yesterday evening so we got to wish him Happy Birthday. They said Skyline Drive was busy. They did get one hike in then went to a brewery. Today I saw on Snapchat that they went apple picking and then went to Charlottesville, VA. I think they are just enjoying being away.

DD's party was a success.

We watched church this morning then took a walk. The weather is predicting rain for the next 36 hours or so. So, we got a walk in right after church. We are so lucky to have Fair Hill Natural Resources area so close. Just a couple of pictures.

Lovely scenery, Carol! So glad you are having a nice day.

To everyone: I would love an alternative Sunday church Worship service online, should any of you feel comfortable sharing with me a link (by PM) to your church's website. I would need any service to not require Zoom or Facebook to view. You have my word the information will be kept between us. I just sincerely would enjoy so much being able to check out how other churches are doing Worship right now. Thank you!

While I would love to help..the churches around here are only doing them live on FB or by zoom..sorry :(

Our church has three services online on Sunday's. 8 and 11 are Zoom but 9:30 is on Facebook and youtube. So, it you can access Youtube, which does not require you to sign up or log in, you can watch. All are welcome at our services and we are invited to share the link so no problem there. Here is the link to today's service. They are archived so you can watch later. There is a link in the comments to the bulletin. My church is Newark United Methodist in Newark Delaware. Here is the link to their website.

Good morning everyone--gray, rainy, and dreary outside. I did so much this weekend, that I have no energy to do anything today. Decided to do nothing, lol. Planning dinner ahead of time. making a brown sugar pork tenderloin, smashed yellow potatoes, I got a whole chicken at Weis yesteday (for $2.59!), going to cook that at the same time since oven will be hot. Will use it to make homemade chicken pie either tomorrow or Wednesday and make some chicken salad. I also have some Pillsbury peanut butter brownies that I am going to bake at the same time. Several meals will be done all at once! @Breezy_Carol -I must be out of the loop, as I had never heard of Indigenous People Day until they said it on the Weather Channel this morning, and then you mentioned it, lol. I would also like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to any of our Canadian DIS family! Have a wonderful Monday everyone, let's start the week off on a good note!

Thank you so much again, Carol for the link to your church's service. I just watched it from yesterday. Lovely! We often sing at my own church "Gather Us In," so that was comforting. I accidently first brought up one of the Weekly Hymn sings (love that your church does that)! "It Only Takes a Spark." So refreshing and brought back memories of my time in church choir with our former director. I'd be happy to email your church office, if you think it might brighten their day to know someone across the country enjoyed their service.

Indeed, let's start this new week off with joy and on a good note!

Greetings ladies & gentlemen.
Guilty as charged, I've been absent for about a week or so.
I've tried to keep up and read all the posts but I'm afraid I've missed a thing or two! And a question or two, probably!
Spent a nice 4 nights at Universal last week. Weather - hot & sunny, masks in sun- hot and miserable but doable, a relaxing time was had by both of us!
Rain and chilly here in our neck of the woods as well, what a blah day. If anyone wants to know what the social distancing was like, or the airports - ask away! First day back at work after being off for a week and both of us are slammed with what promises to be a somewhat busy week, but busy makes the week go by fast so that is ok w/ me.
Husband is making dinner this evening, meatloaf w/ acorn squash. I've got an appt. after work and should get home just as dinner is ready and on the table. I think tomorrow is going to be meatballs & manicotti w/ a salad- Wednesday & Thursday husband will be out of town in DC for work - so the dogs & I will just have leftovers those two nights.
Hope everyone has a great afternoon -

@flyingdumbo127, glad that you enjoyed the church service. Not sure if the hymn sing you listened too was the Son Spirit praise band or the soloist Brett Izsa. He was a student intern with us form University of Delaware and stayed on after he graduated in May. He is so talented and has an excellent voice. Every Thursday they post another 2 hymns.
And if you'd like to email the church, I am sure they would be glad to hear from you. There is a contact us page on their website.
@easyas123 , glad you had a nice week away. You were missed.
DD came with the kids. Picked up CFA on the way. We ate then went to the orchard so they could get small pumpkins and we both got cider. Came back here and DGD painted her pumpkin and DGS finger painted one.

Happy Monday everyone. I tried to reply all weekend and then kept getting sidetracked and never got to finish my reply. Started with Happy Friday, changed to Saturday...then Sunday...lol

@flyingdumbo127 glad you found a microwave. We just bought one for my parents from Walmart after there's was making strange noises. Sounded like it was going to explode. LoL
@PollyannaMom hope you had good birthday.
@Pea-n-Me that pie looks delicious. Now I wanna make a pie.
@easyas123 glad you had a good trip.
@Breezy_Carol I love all the pictures from your daily adventures. The OBX place looks really nice, I would love to do that sometime.
@lynxstch you deserve a rest day and you still go all out by cooking all that food. :o I love smashed potatoes.

I spent the weekend in a hotel in Burbank, Ca not to far from hubby's jobsite. It was a nice hotel and it was nice spending the evenings with my hubby. We both sleep much better when we are together than when we're apart so we look forward to the weekends when he is working away from home. Saturday evening we spent time on the outside seating area at the hotel with hubby's coworkers...one came from Italy and the other from Holland. They were supposed to be out here earlier this year but of course Covid messed that up but they were finally able to get permission for essential work travel. I had met the Italian coworker when we were in Italy last year but first time meeting the other....it was a fun evening getting to know them better with some food and drinks.

Spent my morning at the Dr office....got a mammogram and then face to face appt with my Dr after a phone visit last week. My BP was high so they changed my meds to see if that helps, going back in 2 weeks for a recheck. Guess I should buy a bp machine for home too. It was so good to see my Dr....I've had her for years but when hubby got his new job, we had to change insurance and I couldn't see her anymore. Our new insurance was alright but outside of our former/now current medical group/insurance, the medical options around here aren't that great and I had a nor very good experience with the provider I picked. She just wasn't very attentive and it's just wasn't great so I didn't go in to get checked as often as I should have. (I once asked her about something and she literally just giggled and said....huh, I don't know what that would be? and then never addressed it again. :confused3 ) Hubby's work just started offering this other insurance so we switched back as soon as we could and I'm just so happy about it. Already since Sept 1st, I've had more checked out, tests ordered, exams, etc than I had the entire year and a half we had the other insurance. I'm so happy and thankful we were able to switch back.

This weekend, my sister and I are taking my niece to Knotts Berry Farm for their fall fest. Its gonna befun....I can't wait. Going to wear my orange hocus pocus shirt I shared last week....I got my sister and niece matching ones but not sure if they will wear theirs or not. My niece might wear a costume as they are having a trick or treat trail for kids.

@PollyannaMom, Happy (belated) Birthday!

@flyingdumbo127, I'm glad you found a microwave. I feel like countertop ones are disposable these days. Back when I had my own apartment in 2006, I paid less than $50 for mine. Nice bright red one. It still worked when DH sold his condo in 2015 (we left it, as we no longer needed it and the buyer liked it).

@Breezy_Carol, your photos are making me add more places to my bucket list! At this point in my life, that list should be starting to get shorter, not continuously get longer! ;)

I'm sorry I have not done my part to keep our thread going. I will use Josh's schooling as an excuse. On his at-home days, he has 4-5 meetings from 8:55 a.m. to about 2:30 at the latest. In between meetings, we have to have lunch, catch up on at-home assignments, read a book, etc. Any downtime I do get really isn't much. Once we're done with it...I'm done with being online. I'm surprised that it's actually exhausting, because I'm not really doing anything! And then later in the evening after Josh goes to sleep, DH and I relax with shows on Netflix - we're into Haven now - and I like to play some (downloaded) games.

So Friday we had class meetings. Josh is really into art now and was excited to show his teacher his version of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night (and he pronounces it "Van Goff," the British pronunciation). He has also done copies of Grant Wood's American Gothic, Edvard Munch's The Scream, Leonardo daVinci's Mona Lisa, and Irises, also by Van Gogh. Between classes, he went outside with Grandma to get the mail and didn't notice the little present that one of our neighbor's dogs left out there. He told the whole class about that one - and the teacher, knowing that we have a cat, even said, "Josh...do you even own a dog?"

Saturday we had an early soccer game and he did well. Came home for haircuts and he did NOT do well. He screamed and hit me, then went to his room for an hour while I did DH's hair. We finally got him to come downstairs and I got his hair done. Our afternoon was spent doing another state for our project - we only have 9 left now - and playing Osmo. Sunday we had a photoshoot and went to visit my in-laws, and he got a baseball lesson from Uncle Billy. I'm just a bit disappointed that the fall colors weren't very vibrant for photos. I see plenty of it in people's yards and other various private properties, but when we go to a public place...still all green! Despite that, these are 2 of my favorite photos:
MVIMG_20201011_141025 copy.jpgMVIMG_20201011_153404 (2) copy.jpg

With the holiday today, we went to Mystic Aquarium. I haven't been there in about 20 years myself and this was his first visit. Now he's suddenly all into penguins.

I think tomorrow is going to be a day to rest a bit. He still doesn't have school; it's a "professional development day" for the teachers. We'll research another state, do his music assignment (and anything else that might come up), maybe play Osmo and finish our new Lego "Haunted Hayride" set, read books, etc.

It's been a busy day here. I made hubs pancakes for lunch, made a bunch so I can freeze some.
For dinner I made thai chicken. Nice change from the usual dinner.

We are really looking forward to the new season of The Amazing Race on Wed.

I'll get busy and back read. Hope you all have a nice evening. 🌺
