Mmmm Love this thread! Hope everyone had a nice Easter. We did some painting and then some heavy binging.

Favorite Ice cream is Harris Teeter's Coconut Almond. I have no idea which brand this is supposed to be a generic of but OMG so good! I like to get their little pints when they are B2G3free and Ive not had a bad flavor yet.

Harris Teeter is a Kroger run grocery store. So if your Kroger (or Kroger run) store has a coconut almond ice cream, it may just be the same!

Favorite cookies is once again Harris Teeter and once again coconut. LOL It is their in store made coconut pecan cookies, sold by the dozen. Ive tried a couple of home versions and cant seem to replicate it successfully.

A close second would be the Monster cookies I make. Oatmeal, M&Ms, choc chips, nuts and peanut butter. Very good too.

Happy Monday my DIS friends

I have been at it with accounting today and trying to help out some that needed to talk about what is weighing down their hearts. The weather was gross yucky this morning. It's now cold here again. I'm going to need Mother Nature to pick a season and stick with it. I get enough hot flashes without her contributions. We've had a quiet day here and nothing special to report. No news is good news some days and I'll take it. My friends are telling me I need to have zoom call for everyone to watch the hair dye special for me LOL what the heck, it's just hair.

Dinner tonight is corn chowder with shrimp in it and berry spinach salads with rolls.

Gratitudes:

1. Blessed Easter day. It wasn't what we wanted or typically enjoy but I spent it with my love and we talked with our family and most everyone is healthy and safe. That's a good day.
2. My new Little Big Town cd. I love it and have played it several times over on our blueray player. It was "free" with our concert ticket purchase in FEB. It's very relaxing and easy listen.
3. The people still trying to make a living working restaurants. We haven't done much take out but did last night and of course tipped well in appreciation of their hard work when trying to provide a service and do it safely.

Peace and good health to all

Question of the day: 4/13: Pies!! What's your favorite?

We've talked cookies, ice cream, cakes and now pies. I LOVE peach pie with vanilla ice cream. I made a pretty decent peanut butter pie (not for me as ya'll guess by now) and I make outstanding old fashion pecan pie. I mean let's be honest I don't turn down much pie but I don't any shape or form like cherry pie. I don't like cherry anything or grape either actually. I think it's leftover from my days or cherry and grape flavored medicine as a kid. I cheat and buy the roll out pie crusts. I figure I'm doing the Pillsbury people a favor keeping those people in work. See how I spin that? :p

Tina, thank you for this thread! I haven’t been posting much but I read and I appreciate the simplicity and kindness that exists here. :grouphug:

I like most fruit pies and coconut custard but I don’t see custard pies around much anymore. I used to work in a bakery years ago and we sold many coconut and plain custard pies. I like a good key lime pie but I find the commercial ones too sickeningly sweet. I also like chocolate cream pie but with a graham cracker or chocolate graham cracker crust, not regular pie crust.

All that talk about cake the other day - this was ours for Easter. It did look better than it tasted and next time we’ll go back to our standard chocolate fudge with cream cheese frosting. I did get to have a pineapple upside down cake dole whip at WDW last month and I think I was just trying to recapture the magic and deliciousness of that, but it didn’t quite fly without the Disney pineapple ice cream.😝

I think I've gained 5 pounds just reading this thread.
Only 5? I gained that just talking about ice cream... ;)

The pew pew iPhone thing didn't work for me. Do both phones have to be iPhones? Or a relatively new model? DH has an iPhone, several years old, and I have a Google Pixel. I texted him and he didn't get a laser show...he just thought I was off my rocker.

Taking it easy today. We're in CT and getting rain and 60 mph winds. The rain is coming down sideways. My son is being a pistol and still not listening to me. Very frustrating. I made a Wish Jar, inspired by one of my son's friend's moms. I printed a Dr. Seuss "Oh The Places You'll Go" banner and wrapped it around an old clean peanut jar. Every time we think of a day trip we'd like to take - a park, a museum, bowling, etc. - we write it down and put it in the jar. When the quarantine is over, when we have a day free to do something as a family, we'll take one of the Wishes out of the jar and that's what we'll do that day.

My favorite pie? YES ;) Well, to narrow it down...my MIL gets pies from a place in her town called Randall's Farm, and they make the most delicious pies! Our favorite is the Triple Berry pie. I also like chocolate cream and lemon meringue (doesn't have to be Randall's, though). Key lime is great...peach...strawberry...

Crud, now I want pie.

I'm just glad people want to read and contribute to my ramblings and learning what Matt and I are doing in quarantine lol. I told him I'm going to start our own live stream so people can be really bored and watch us.

That cake looks great! I love pineapple upside down cake. Paula Deen has a good recipe that uses individual muffin tins and you can freeze the extras for when you need pick me up. I hope you and your family had a nice holiday yesterday and that everyone is safe and healthy.

I make chocolate cream pie every holiday and it is yummy. It is from the old Betty Crocker cookbook. Add whipped cream and it is delicious. My best friend gave me the cookbook for a wedding shower gift. She has since passed and I think or her every time I make something from it.

Thanks for this thread Tina. Some of the threads out there are down right frightful. :duck:

Not a big fan of pies, but love pumpkin, so I will say that. I just don't do the crust.

I'm telling you Meriweather,,I think we would get along famously, or else we are related! I don't do crust on pies either, and not a big fan of pies-lol!
Every now and then, a piece of lemon meringue will hit the spot, or a nice warm piece of blueberry pie with chocolate ice cream on it
But in general, not a pie lover,, where we disagree though is pumpkin, as I don't do pumpkin anything!

I love cream pies! I had a great chocolate cream pie that had dark chocolate shavings on top so nice bitter and sweet. So good. My favorite is coconut cream with mile high meringue. There is a place in Williams, AZ that makes some the best meringue pies. And Williams, AZ so cute! Looks like the town in Cars!
