Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Gutters are all done , and look beautiful. All they need now is the leaf guard things. The place is closed tomorrow and Monday , for Labor Day. He is going to try and see if he can get them Tuesday and put them on, but he's not promising. He also cut the big branches off of the top of the roof and over the electric line, and he cut down a dead Rose of Sharon Bush. Then he finished the shed ramp, and halleluhjah! The tractor is in the shed. No more cable, lock, or cover needed. It 'just' fit next to the tiller and the ladders, no more than a couple inches to spare, but it works for me. I have been outside with him since he got here just before 10. He got a call that his 'wife'--not really his wife but they have been together for 37 years, got in another accident (2 in 2 weeks), and that she was at the police station again. Her son had to go and bail her out,,she was afraid to call Dave (handyman) and tell him. She totalled another car. He was more upset about the car than her,,geez...
Off to relax my back and cool off. There is a huge street rod gathering at the fairground this weekend, and there will be all kinds of show cars coming in from the highway, I plan to sit out there tonite and watch them all roll by!

Have a nice rest of the afternoon

Sounds nice, Breezy_Carol!

We are at our WDW for our last night of a great WDW stay. Just catching up a bit, and wishing everyone a great holiday weekend.

QOTD: What is your favorite cereal?

Only Special K with strawberries. Mostly I eat oatmeal, or non traditional breakfast foods, like leftovers.

Great dog :dogdance: advice, Easyas. I like that your son is making dinner tonight for you! Congratulations to your niece, how cool. Prayers to her for the coming 4 years of school ahead. Glad to see someone else in our group isn’t a milk fan. It really does have to be in something for me. I have never liked it plain, yuck! As a kid I did like chocolate milk but only if it was more chocolate than milk to disguise the taste lol. I hope you get in some R&R this weekend. Early rising dogs and all.

 Snowysmom. How are you feeling? How glad I am that you are more looking forward to your own family’s WDW trip. I truly pray it will be a FUN and healing time for you, my friend all-around.

Pea, love what Snowysmom said and completely agree. Your DH is blessed to have the extra support and care of two caring nurses. 🙏that all went very well this morning!

B&B, you and Footballmouse should have a cereal 🥣 party meet :) I love that you also shared both kid and grown-up cereals. You reminded me that very briefly when I was under 8 I think, I liked Froot Loops sort of. I also remember as an adult finally trying Cookie Crisp and being so disappointed that it did not (to me) taste like mini chocolate chip cookies I had loved from McDonald's growing up. Remember the old boxes of McDonald’s cookies from the 80’s? Chocolatey Chip. I also liked the vanilla tasting animal cracker type of cookies called McDonaldland Cookies. Creepy looking but in memory they were good. Thanks for the memory. Enjoy some rest please tonight! :thanks: for all your great pictures. Souvenir shopping is such fun especially as a surprise for someone else.

Carol, :thanks:again for adding to all of your pictures. I loved them all especially the group castle photo, you and your DH with Carter and Donald. St Simon’s Island and lighthouse are gorgeous. I’m sorry to hear the buggy and swampy weather were not pleasant. Great pictures and thank you again so much for allowing all of us to travel back with you through them. 🙏 indeed you along with the rest of your family are feeling well today and that all went well for your DH at the doctor. Tessa can come borrow some LA heat :sunny:if she’s cold. It’s even warm for me!

:cheer2: Hooray for your gutters being finished at last, Lynn! Even more wonderful (and a relief) that he did the work NOT dear you! Please take care and get some rest. Enjoy some TV.

Great to see you Bobbiwoz! I'm so thankful that your own ::MickeyMo trip has been fun. I look forward to hearing all about it.

Not much going on here. Waiting on one Amazon order. No regular mail was shown today in informed delivery. I have a $1.99 ($2.14 or so including tax) Prime trial this week. I was able to place an order through Amazon Fresh for a case of Aquafina and a dozen or so more cans of Campbell's Chicken Broth. The true blessing of this is knowing it especially the case of water) will be delivered 📦 right to us rather than dad having to go purchase it at a store and lug it upstairs. I do like supporting Amazon because we use Amazon Smile and gel to contribute that way to the American Cancer Society. Of course, an added bonus, was the soup was on promotion for 50% off a can and we're saving a good $10 over the grocery stores current prices on these same items. The water started out as more but had its own 10% discount. I just wish you didn't need Prime to use Fresh or spend $35 to qualify even then. All good and very thankful.

Keep cool friends and have a good evening! 🌼

Good evening.

@Pea-n-Me - Hope everything went well with your husband's surgery.

Not much going on here. I did have to drive my husband to meet up with a friend from work. He can get us promotions after ball games so we asked if he could possibly get a couple of 2 give aways. Happily he could. I worried about asking but he assured me the club would rather give everything away than have the expense of shipping it back. I am going to have two very happy grandsons tomorrow. We were at the game for the one promotion but they were to young for the gift. They will be excited now.

I have been looking for something to put on my one wall, an entertainment center or sofa table type of furniture. I want it for decoration purposes but also as a place to put the computer printer when I get it. My stairs to the upstairs actually are my wall separating the living and dining rooms so I can't get anything huge. I finally settled on this.

It almost matches the tables I have, so I am happy about that.

I had to take Crystal to work today, and she is loving the job. She almost had a panic attack the other day but was able to stop it. She thought a customer was going into an employee only area and stopped him. Turns out he was from corporate, so she got nervous. He commended her on a job well done since she didn't know who he was. I think she will be OK!

QOTD - Cereals I like. I love oatmeal with brown sugar in the winter, sometimes the summer if I am in the mood. Dry cereals I like Strawberry Shredded Wheat and Special K with Red Berries. What can I say I like strawberries. Sometimes I will slice a banana in the cereal too. My throwback dry cereal is Cinnamon Toast Crunch, I LOVE Cinnamon, and this is one thing I don't add extra. There is always Cheerios of some kind for my husband or if I am in a generous mood Raisin Bran. I do not share the Raisin Bran as I am not a fan but will eat the Cheerios. Once in a while I will get Frosted Flakes if I am in the mood for something sweet, but that is rare.

Good evening all! We had more rain today, there is a chance all weekend.

Lou Lou and I went grocery shopping today. I forgot about it being Labor Day weekend so there were a lot more people in the store. She pushed her little buggy and filled it with groceries like she was a grown up. I use Blue Bonnet margarine noticed that the price has really gone up since my last purchase a couple of weeks ago. A package of margarine sticks used to be 99 cents and is now $1.69! Frozen vegetables, refrigerated tea and frozen french fries are where the empty shelves were today. My Kroger has Nathan's onion rings but no fries. Are the onion rings good?

QOTD: What is your favorite cereal?
I don't eat cereal very often but when I do it's usually Honeynut Cheerios, Raisin Bran or Frosted Mini Wheats.

Long day today! Everything went well. Thank you. 🙏🏻 It was a little more complex than expected (had to excise an extra bone), so the surgeon said DH may have more pain and swelling than originally anticipated. He has to keep his leg elevated on two pillows. He’s alternating Tylenol and Motrin. (They didn’t even give him anything stronger.)

Was busy when we came home but had some things I wanted to use up, so broke out the crockpot. Made my own concoction of small potatoes, onions, chicken, stuffing, corn, zucchini and tomatoes. Not bad. DD and I had gone out to breakfast when we dropped DH off this morning, then had a little retail therapy while we waited, and that was fun.

Hope everyone is doing ok! Thank you for sharing your rescue dog thoughts and experiences! 👍🏻

Breakfast (bacon, spinach and swiss omelette)

Never had lunch…

Picked this up for myself

And also got some [sort of fugly] Skechers sandals that were super comfortable for a future Disney trip (which family teased me about a bit, but I don’t care, lol)

Night! 🐥

Good morning all! Another hot day coming up, I think it starts cooling down again after that. Stepson called last nite, he and his GF (partner) are coming to town today for a wedding, so will stop by and visit for a couple of hours before going to the wedding. We haven't seen her since we went to OC in 2018, so it's been quite awhile!
I am still tired, stiff, and sore, and I am taking the weekend off. I did a doubletake when I went outside this morning, and looked where the tractor had been parked, and saw it gone, lol. I totally forgot we got it in the shed! Now all I have to do is plant some grass seed where it was sitting since May!
@tazdev3225 --That is the exact same credenza we decided on when we decided this week to get a new, bigger tv. Mr L wants to go like 75" but our living room isn't big enough, so it's going to be a little smaller. I will go and get it after he decides what brand he wants. We were having an issue with the Samsung we have had for about 5 years, the picture would go black, and 10 seconds later come back. We finally figured out that one of the HDMI ports was going bad. Switched the plug to one of the other ones, and voila, no more problems!
@Pea-n-Me Glad your husband's surgery went well for the most part. Sorry that he will be in more pain though. Prayers for a quick, full recovery. At least he has you to take care of him!
Off to strip and remake the bed and turn the mattress.

Have a great day

Good morning. Woke up to temps in the 60's. Definitely pleasant walking the dog in the cooler temps. I do need to keep an eye on her when we walk as the vet detected some hip issues. He talked about an operation in a year or 2 but we have decided not to put her through that. Chewie is 8 already and I am not stressing her with a difficult and painful surgery and recovery. We will give her the best life possible and take each day as it comes.

@lynxstch - How funny we chose the same credenza. I don't know if you like Amazon, but I ordered from there. I saw it in person in Boscov's, but it was about $150 more and wouldn't have included delivery. With Amazon I also got free delivery. My grandson will help me get it in the house and assemble it for me. I can do it myself normally, but I am having so many issues with my knee that I don't know how long it would hold up. My husband is not allowed near tools.

Not much on the schedule today. My husband does want to take me out for dinner, but I am honestly not sure if I want to go out. I may decide to order a pizza and have salad with it. I do have plans to tackle the hallway closet this weekend. I have a coupon addiction and need to filter out some of the crazy number of things I over bought. At one time I found 60 bottles of shampoo, at least that many razors, 40 tubes of toothpaste and I forget how many toothbrushes. To be fair, they all cost me under 50 cents each, but it is a bit much for just 2 people.

Hope you all have a good day.

@Pea-n-Me I hope your DH is feeling a bit better today.

@lynxstch Sounds like your house is getting spruced up. Glad it looks nice.

@tazdev3225 Crystal seems to be doing really well at her job. She has a good sense of responsibility. Good for her.

@frog3101 Thinking of you this weekend.

@dazedx3 Thinking of you too. I hope you are looking forward to your Maine trip coming up.

Cool morning here. Took my walk. I was up a bit later this morning due to being very tired this week. I will be spending the weekend by myself as older DS works, younger DS has covid, and even though I tested negative for covid, I had just had my 2nd booster so that may have affected the test. Since younger DS and I have the same symptoms and we were together alot last week in cars, nursing home, funeral home, and we always hug goodbye, I am acting as if I could have covid. It is better to be safe. I guess this shows that the booster does work. I will be doing alot of housework and may renew my ancestry.com membership. One of Chris' older cousins told me he has a big family tree on Ancestry and will give me rights to see it. I would love to see the family tree. Plus I can take a look to see if my birth family has any further info. It will keep me busy so I don't cry as much. My half sister will be calling me too. I always enjoy talking with her. She is so kind, caring, and is very faith filled. She is comforting.

Have a nice Saturday.

I use Amazon for almost everything, so yes, would be ordering it from there, as soon as he decides on a tv. I don't want to get something bigger (or smaller) than we need,,but for now, that's the one I want! I can assemble it, even if I have to take parts out of the box to bring it into the house. Sometimes the UPS guy is in a really good mood and puts heavy things inside for me, so maybe......lol

Good morning.

Currently watching "An Hour Behind" on Great American Family Network. A typical Hallmark type movie that is predictable nut enjoyable. No plans for the weekend. May try to get crabs tonight.

DH and I think COVID hit us harder than we thought. Neither of us "sick" and our coughs are definitely improved but still so lethargic and tired. Last night I made grilled cheese and tomato soup as I didn't have the energy for anything else.

@PollyannaMom , enjoy Maine. I really like it there.

Everything went well.
Glad your husband did well. Refresh my faulty memory, what did he have done?
I am taking the weekend off.........
Off to strip and remake the bed and turn the mattress.
Your idea of taking the weekend off is different than mine.
I don't know if you like Amazon, but I ordered from there.
I use Amazon but also Wayfair for furniture.
need to filter out some of the crazy number of things
Looking at your list of items, a homeless shelter or food pantry would be glad to see you coming.

I saw on tv either yesterday or the day before that there is a Covid booster for the current strain to possibly be released for later this month. I had my second booster about a month ago. Had no side effects that I remember. I have friends who have come down with Covid after being around large crowds like concerts or after a trip where they flew to their destination.

Another warm day here, too. Good morning friends :flower2:

Big :grouphug:Pea, I'm also so sorry your DH is experiencing extra prayer. Grateful to God his surgery is behind both of you now! Please take care of yourself and get some rest especially after a couple of trying days🙏.

:grouphug:🙏Snowysmom and Carol! Both of you lovely ladies take care! So sad that so many in our Quacker family are still experiencing the plague that is Covid :(

Taz, that is awesome to get some extra giveaways⚾ Years ago dad and I used to go to some Dodger games on giveaway nights. Added to the fun of the experience. I would also feel awkward about accepting the gift at first, too. I like the color of your new cabinet! Nothing that exciting, except lol to us because of the price and convenience, dad and I are currently waiting on our own Amazon order of Chicken Broth and Aquafina. Definitely use Amazon all the time. We were also grateful that we were finally able to try a free trial of Walmart+ For so long that had not been available in our area. Very handy to be able to order under $35 and not need to pay shipping. I'm proud of Crystal :cheer2:

🙏dear Kirby for your friends and always, for you, as well! Prices at Ralph's (and Pavilions) 🛒sure keep going up out here, too :(

Happy 📺watching to both you and Mr. L dear Lynn! This weekend may be a good time to look for one on sale. Hope you find one that works well for both of you and at a good price. :hug:Enjoy your visit with your son and his girlfriend. Always, you, please listen to me, all of us, and take better care of yourself!

:wave:with a :grouphug:PollyannaMom! Enjoy your weekend with your son, my friend. Prayers for safe travels home!

I made a happy 📺discovery last night. We get GAC Family Channel which means access to more Hallmark type movies. Except it appears they only show some movies (much like Hallmark repeats) on the weekend? A blessing, of course, anyway, especially I'm hoping during Christmastime, to have a surprise extra movie choice :)

Keep cool everyone and have a wonderful Saturday! I'll check back later.

Hello everyone! I've been out doing yardwork this morning and I'm hot and sweaty.

Still have more to do so I'm just relaxing a bit until I feel like heading out again.

@Pea-n-Me - glad to hear husband is doing okay. They gave DD something 'stronger' for pain and she took one and switched to tylenol. Those heavy meds just make her throw up. They did give her anti-nausea meds as well but she's ok with jus the tylenol.

I've got a question for the group. About 30 years ago I got divorced. I stood by while my ex picked what he wanted from our stuff. He wasn't taking much and I wasn't super invested in stuff.

Prior to that my MIL and FIL got divorced and there was a huge yard sale for their stuff. MIL didn't want much and preferred to buy new for her new condo. One of MIL's hobbies was painting. Whatever she painted got framed and set aside but was rarely hung. Some items were given as gifts to family. I was the recipient of quite a few as I always loved what she did. Most of the rest of the immediate family weren't overly interested.

At the yard sale people bought the paintings. They were beautifully framed. Some even were heard saying we can use this frame. After the sale a truck came to dispose of the rest of the things.

I, after everyone had left, gathered up many of the paintings and took them home with me. My marriage was on it's last legs even though I was unaware. Not long after I was buying this house and moving on, but my MIL and I stayed friendly as we had always been. She would come to visit fairly often. I hung her art in my home and she loved that. She had also created craft items that I still enjoy to this day.

Once in the last few years a family member has requested a specific painting that I've hung in my dining area for the last 33 years. They haven't asked me, but sent a message through my kids. I just didn't respond. Now, my ex is here this week to see our new granddaughter. He had my DD text me and ask for the painting.

First let me say there is no big money value here. It's just a sentimental thing. And since none of the siblings that are still living have been to my home (including ex) recently, I can only guess how they are remembering this particular painting - maybe through family pictures shared by my kids from maybe a holiday dinner? It had no impact on any of them when it was ready to go in a truck to the garbage dump.

Anyway, would you give up this item?

I suppose it would depend on the subject, and how many others I had.

If the painting was of a special place I used to go with the artist or something, I would want to keep it. But if it was one of several of her paintings I had and I could easily swap out for another I liked, I would probably pass it on.

My thoughts would be that whoever was asking had been too upset at the time with their parents splitting to make good decisions, and had finally come around to the sentimental value.

@Judique --If that person can't ask you directly, and goes through others to do it, I would say no. You say it has sentimental value to you, so I wouldn't give it up.

You know, that is exactly what puzzles me. They were all at (but one) my son's wedding and everyone was cordial and friendly, no animosities at all. Also, when the divorce happened they were all out of the house, married and living their own lives. They were not unhappy about the events as they knew what the situation was and that their parents lived separate and somewhat unequal lives. MIL had not worked after marriage, but certainly contributed both to the family and community. I can't even imagine them remembering this picture (a floral) after all this time, unless someone has seen a pic of it hung on my wall.

I would probably let the painting go. Look at it as an opportunity to refresh the dining area decor.
