Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning.

Pouring rain, and thunder. I am going to try to get the chores done that I didn’t do yesterday. If I got to work, I’d be done in an hour.

We go to DD’s tonight to babysit while she and her DH go to a dinner celebrating all of the teachers of the year. Her DH was teacher of the year at his middle school. And they announce the district TOY.

I'm going to have to try this pizza!
I'm going to have to try it as well. We love garlic naan, might have to experiment a bit....I see a seafood pizza in our future!

Oh how exciting! Congrats to him, and good luck with the district TOY.

Garlic Naan - used to get it all the time at Trader Joe's and loved their version. Didn't see that version last several visits. I'll keep looking. I like naan and buy it every so often, but TJ's was just good.

UT - in the past I've bought often. But I haven't needed to buy tickets in about 5 or 6 years since I have a stash. They were always efficient and no probs but I bought hard tickets mailed to me and well before date based tickets so don't know how that's working out.

I would be a no on beer day, a maybe on coffee cake day, and would be really a yes for no housework, if I hadn't already done it, lol. I did laundry, watered all of my tomato seedlings. Just got all the fixings into the crockpot for beef stew tonite (with Italian bread and salad if he wants one). Made a batch of egg salad, did all the dishes I dirtied, and now he's making his pancakes, so I will have to do his.

QOTD--do any of you use the CAYG method (clean as you go) or do you just wait till you have a big pile of whatever and clean it up then? LOL all of my dishes this morning made me think of it, as I use the CAYG method

DD and girls heading on cruise today.

I'm still on the 'should I go to Disney this weekend' indecision.

She said, 'If you come let me know and pick us up at the port'. Well, I think for that I have to decide now so she can cancel her shuttle that is over $100, but not sure how much more over. Also, I could drop her at the airport afterwards, another $100plus shuttle savings for her. No free magical express hurts them.

Guess I'll talk to younger DD and see what she says. She's sometimes my voice of reason.

I have free nights that need to be used by June 30 so this would be a good opportunity. I could go on Saturday or even tomorrow and get a day or so in the parks. (I know - reservations needed - but I could take anything and you can always do the shuffle to try to get something.) I have plenty of tickets.

My sweet little hybrid would only cost $150 or so in gas depending on price but definitely under $200. (I check gas buddy and can fill up at Sam's and Costco in Florence, SC and Costco in Georgia if prices are too high but with the hybrid it's not a big deal as I'm rarely putting in more than 8-9 gallons and that will do at least 400 -500 miles or so. It always registers as over 500 miles to start but it drops depending on the driving.

I always pack snacks for breakfast and odd meals for DVC stays and my food costs are minimal plus I know where to go in Lake Buena Vista to get good food at lower prices, plus I've got some restaurant gift cards somewhere.

So, my single person approximately one week trip is peanuts. Until I start spending a little on the girls, lol.

oh heck, I want to be with them! It's fun and no one is guaranteed the future. I should go.....

I've never heard of the CAYG method....I mean, I'm aware of the concept of cleaning up as you go, but I didn't know it had a formal name and following haha!
I hate cleaning, not gonna lie. I clean up as needed, and full disclosure - I have a weekly cleaning service as well. I can sleep perfectly well with dishes in the sink and am not fussed by clothes sitting in the washing machine overnight or during the day. I often toss in a load at night or in the AM on my way out to work. BUT we don't have a lot of "stuff" or knick knacks so I think that helps in keeping the house tidy. I also don't have carpet, just wood floors w/ a few rugs. Our last house was entirely carpeted, it perpetually looked dingy. Just about the only thing I'm uptight about is making the bed. It might not happen until later in the day, but I'll be damned if I can sleep in a unmade bed!

Amy my son's birthday! I've got it on my phone reminder but haven't called yet!

Only non alcoholic beer here. And only on rare occasions when I think of it to go with pizza. I'll drink wine but it's just a dab...

Not into coffee cake, but love most sweet things.

CAYG is my housework style except for laundry. I do try to let it accumulate and do full loads. Actually, considering hiring someone to do a deepclean. I deserve it. My younger DD will pay as she will pay anything to just not hear me talk about it.

You SHOULD go!

Go pack up, get on the road and have a awesome trip!

I'm thinking over planning my stops as we write. Yikes! I've done this 11th hour trip thing in the past so it's no big deal for me to leave out, drive 200 miles, stop for a good nights sleep and plan from there. I'll always book my nights before driving off though as I'm not about to wing it on finding a decent room.

For most things. I definitely pick up as I go when I'm cooking. And I absolutely prefer to do one load of laundry (or less) each day rather than several loads once a week.

Mail is a weakness, though. I tend to skim through the senders as I'm walking back from the mailbox and pull out anything super important, but leave the rest to deal with it when I can't take the pile anymore.

So, right now, I traveled to Hilton Head in Nov, January and March. Potential trip to Florida this weekend for April. May has nothing yet. June is Ocean City - 4 nights including the airshow. July is also Ocean City late in the month. DD has Nag's Head/Outer Banks in July also and I'm welcome there. Nothing booked in August, September or October. November is Disney, booked already, Plus January and February at Hilton Head and Disney. No booking in December.

Older DD wants me to book Aulani in Hawaii. I said when and she said soon but not this year. Maybe I can plan that for 2024. Then maybe we can do a whole family thing again. We will see. Life's opportunities and Life's challenges.

The outside trash can is in my backyard before I get to my back door and when I have mail in my hand I stop there on my way inside and tuck it into a trash bag. Most of it. When DD brings it in it gets tossed somewhere in my living room near my favorite chair where I have a little waste basket. My important bills come through my online bill pay service and I can deal with them from there, also all credit card bills are online so little trash.

So, I look at mail for anything personal which nowadays is mainly at Xmas - xmas cards. My personal correspondence is email mostly. Then there will be the odd piece that I might have interest in. Things have changed at least in my world. Oh - Maryland MVA - I have my online account but still get license stickers by mail. And registrations. I've never done one of those walk up places.

Good warm Thursday morning!

I am so thankful that it's warm in here right now! So lovely :) It's truly an extra blessing to not be at all cold. Thank you all for your extra prayers for my dad this morning. I'll update later. I need to email the dentist I saw earlier in the year to find out whether he has gotten in the ultrasonic. I also need to share more detail with him as to how a visit could go better. Mostly, I want to thank him again for his kindness and all the time he took during our consult. That was truly so nice of him to do. I'm scheduled for a cleaning two weeks from today.

Love all the morning shares from loved ones reminders of their forever love and watching over us (Pea's mom) to Judique's (GO on your trip) encouraging son to your daughter, Carol, congratulations to her. All have brightened my morning. As does just knowing each of you have checked in today and are well.

QOTD--do any of you use the CAYG method (clean as you go) or do you just wait till you have a big pile of whatever and clean it up then? I've never heard of the CAYG method either but do try and use it. I definitely did so pre pandemic when I did so much work and volunteering at church including in the kitchen for camps and various services. I also have been known to wait :)

Oriental Trading is offering free shipping on any order today to anyone interested.

Enjoy some sunshine today, friends and have a good Thursday.

Judique - go and have fun! I wish I could have a trip planned for every month, only in a dream though.

I straighten up every day but it's not very much, I don't like things sitting out. I do laundry once a week so I have full loads. I also fold and put everything away right out of the dryer. If I just have a couple of dishes, I usually leave them for the next day. I do clean the house once a week. I have all hardwood floors and many pets so I usually sweep a couple of times a week, I hate seeing dog hair on the floor. I also go through the mail every day and keep what I need and put the rest in the recycling bin.

I have a can of beer in the fridge, maybe I'll crack that open tonight while watching the Reds game (yeah, baseball season starts today!) in honor of National Beer Day. :)

Being retired makes it possible and having DD living here. Finding someone to feed 3 cats and a dog inside and 1 cat and a million birds outside would put a big crimp in my spontaniety. (spelling)

@Judique I am envious of all your traveling and just picking up and going to Disney. When I retire maybe that kind of travel will be part of my plans. I hope you have a great trip.

I used Undercover Tourist a couple of times and they were very good. They even refunded my tickets for my May 2020 trip. I thought that was good customer service as they did not have to do that per their policy. They were very flexible.

For naan pizza I usually buy the individual whole grain, add pizza sauce, cheese, and diced peppers, onions, and sometimes mushrooms. Bake and such a quick yummy meal. I am looking forward to getting back to cooking the things I used to when Chris and I were together.

I straighten up as I go for cooking and laundry. I usually have a schedule for cleaning the bathroom, dusting, vacuuming, and general cleaning. I used to clean the bathroom on Friday after work and do the other stuff Saturday and Sunday. Since living with DS I don't do any of that. They have a cleaner come in every other week. They clean as needed. My sons want me to get a cleaner once I am settled but I am not sure. Maybe once a month for the harder cleaning and I can keep things clean the rest of the time. Younger DS has a cleaner he likes and maybe they would come to my town since I will be close to DS.

@flyingdumbo127 I hope things work out with the new dentist. I also hope your Dad is doing well today.

I did not watch much news yesterday. It was a bad day for me emotionally so I just watched a couple of sitcoms. I think I need to stop watching alot of news. It is just awful.

I booked the mover and then left a message at the condo office to call me back so I can give them the details. Is it a bad sign that I called at 8:45 am and the condo office has not called me back? I figure they are probably trying to figure out who the heck I am and have to verify before calling back.

Have a nice rest of the day.
