Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Afternoon all.

I started getting the kitchen back together. I am getting rid of more stuff as I go along. I had 5 jars of Mayonnaise, seriously! I take after my dad. If there is a sale he buys 6 of something and drives my mom insane. I am trying to decompress the house so this is a good thing. I will give some of the food stuffs to my daughters and the rest will go to the food distribution at church.

My husband got hit by a freight train last night, or at least that is what he feels like. He was doing good all day after the shot and then all of a sudden it hit him. His arm hurts, he is nauseous and dizzy, has the shakes really bad. I read an article today that researchers now think people who have such a bad reaction from the first dose had the virus and didn't know it. I swear we both had it last year before they knew what it was. He's just staying in bed today and taking it easy. At least he isn't in my way as I sort through things to get rid of them, he hordes worse than my dad and I combined if that is possible. Last cleanout I threw out cords for phones he hasn't had for years. He may need them one day. LOL

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Friday.

@tazdev3225--Sorry to hear your hubby had such a bad reaction to the shot. I was afraid mine would have the same,,but he had no reaction at all. Not even sore at the injection site. I am hoping the second shot he gets in April will be the same, but I hear too many people saying they have more reaction. I was told tylenol before hand, and Gatorade after will help. Hope your husband feels better soon.

LOL I have a lot of stuff like 5 jars of mayonnaise, about 75 rolls of toilet paper, 35 rolls of paper towels, etc..all stored away when they were hard to find when the virus started,,now I have way too many. I don't even want to go down and clean the pantry cabinet in the cellar,,I'm afraid I will find way too much stuff there too!

Temp says is 45 and the sun is out, but the wind is blowing like crazy and it felt really cold to me when I went out to check the mail. I wasted a trip across the street as we had nothing, like most of the neighbors. Seems like Mondays and Thursdays are the days when everyone gets a ton of mail. Still waiting for my eyeglass prescription to get here, just outside of town, and it was mailed Monday. First class mail should not take 4 days to get to the same city!

Awhile ago I read “ The other Einstein” about his wife and how she might have been the one to solve some of the complex physics topics or at least cowrote some of his papers. He treated her like dirt. I got mad at the book .

Me too! My brother got it for me a couple of Christmases ago, and I was so mad at how she was treated!

I was looking online at dresses. I found this one I like. And this one. I would have to try them on though.
ooo, I like them both!

I do as well!

My blood tests came out clear.

Great news!

I read an article today that researchers now think people who have such a bad reaction from the first dose had the virus and didn't know it.

I've heard that, too - that it's the second exposure that is likely to cause a reaction. (That makes it the second shot for most people, but the first shot for those who actually fought it off once already.)

I don't even want to go down and clean the pantry cabinet in the cellar, I'm afraid I will find way too much stuff there too!

Yeah, I'm bad about rotating things when I've bought ahead, so sometimes stuff expires on me in the pantry or freezer. I'm working on it!

Guess what I just found after moving my car? Mail in the mailbox. It must have been delivered either really late last night or early this morning. At least yesterday's mail did come. Later we will see about today's :)

Prayers your DH feels much better soon, Taz Dev! My Dad gets his second shot tomorrow morning. I am sure keeping that in prayer!

It is amazing what you find sometimes when sorting through stuff, isn't it? I think somewhat of stockpile of non perishables is important (now especially) I remember two years ago cleaning out the huge fridge at church to make room for summer camp snacks. It was frightening to discover expired products that went back a year or more hiding inside! Thank you Taz Dev, for donating some of your stockpile to your church :)

It's just after 10:30am here which means early afternoon for a lot of you. Hope the day has warmed up out there :)

@dazedx3 Yay for the shot but that's terrible you weren't appreciated enough at work for a thank you. That's terrible. :(

@moorhunhe Good for you. Glad you got good results too.

@PollyannaMom love the leprechaun craft. Super cute.

@Kirby sounds like a great getaway.

@sparkle78 I agree....I would not have wanted to live back then.

@easyas123 I'm bummed the shirt didn't fit Duke....I was looking forward to a picture. DH and DD always see thing for our dogs but I know they wouldn't fit them...lol

@Breezy_Carol I really like both of this dresses. And so glad you got some

@tazdev3225 hope your hubby is feeling better.

@lynxstch I've got a least one unopened pack of toilet paper and paper towels at all time now. Also dishwasher soap, laundry detergent and fabric softener....lol I'm pretty good not over buying food stuff though, much to the dismay of my DD and DH who says we never have anything in the house to eat.

@flyingdumbo127 hope your dad's second shot goes well with minimum affects. My grandma had hers a couple weeks ago and was a little shaky and very tired. She slept almost the whole next day but wake up feeling fine the day after that.

My 5yo, kindergartener niece is here with me for a few days so I've been doing her school with her. OMG...she has soo much work. It's crazy. When I had to watch her last month she was still doing virtual and I couldn't believe how much she had to do. Now she's back to in person (missing yesterday and today of course to be here) but I thought she might have less to do. Nope, they are still zooming in the morning, go into school for a couple hours , then have to come home and do more homework. Just seems so much for kinder. LOL

Took our dog to the vet yesterday and our vet doesn't think it's a serious as the emergency vet said. I will have to take him back next week for some tests and hoping it's what our vet thinks. He is such a goofball though, not as good of a patient as our other guy. He doesnt like the harness, HATES the car, wouldn't sit, so he just wanted to be up and pacing the while time we waited at the vet. Then when the vet came in, he was soo loud, yipping and whining, the Dr and I were having to yell over him. 🤦‍♀️ I can totally tell he's feeling better though with the antibiotics, he back to to crazy self. He LOVES that my niece is here. Every time she had a break from school work, the two of them were hanging outside. :lovestruc

My mom ended up back in the hospital Wed night. Hopefully just a couple days and then she can come home again. She has an infection again but can't figure out where so they are trying to figure it with blood work and another round of IV antibiotics. My niece was so disappointed she might not be able to Grandma...hopefully she can be discharged tomorrow.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Thanks for all of your comments. It was a good weekend but I can't seem to catch up on anything. I have been tired all week. I'm usually tired a day or two after we come home from a trip but combined with the time change I feel like I could sleep all day sometimes.

@Breezy_Carol, both dresses are lovely! I will need to search for one of my own next year for our son's wedding. I'd really like to wear a fancy pantsuit instead. Maybe I can find one.

@AuntieMe3, hope that figure out what is wrong with your mom. It can be so stressful.

Besides being tired, this whole week as felt off. The GK's had to get back on schedule after a week of play. It's been a little rough. Today was better, the GK's and I went to the post office and they didn't go crazy like they have done in the past. Lou Lou is going through a phase where she doesn't want to clean up her toys. Lil Joe chips in which is a big help until he decides he's done enough. They did go down for a nap real easy. Lil Joe is with his dad this weekend. I get my second vaccine tomorrow. I've already told DD and DH that I expect to be out of commission for awhile. Even if I'm not I plan on taking it easy and hopefully catching up on that sleep that I seem to be missing.

AuntieMe3, it is crazy how much work kids, especially starting so young, are sometimes given :( Aww, poor dog. I am glad he's feeling better!

Hug, Kirby, prayers you get some good rest this weekend. How sweet of Lil Joe to pitch in. Lol, getting young children to clean up sure can be a challenge!

Wishing all of you a good night.

Good morning QUACK'ers--light frost overnite, but hey,,its the First Day of Spring, so hurray! Going to get into mid 50's today, then into 60's and 70's for the week. I can't wait! Hubby has got to stop waking up and getting up every 2 hours all night. He is then always tired, everytime he gets up it wakes me up, then I am tired, and then he gets upset when I get up at 4:00 am. Well I have been awakened so many times, by then I am wide awake.

Have to go to Lowes today to get starting mix for my seeds (Walmart has been out for a month), and look at paint. Time to think about getting the rooms painted and refreshed. Also want to look at Air Purifiers. Anyone have a brand they use and recommend? We have a small Holmes one in our bedroom, but need a larger one for in there.

Wishing everyone a Happy First Day of Spring, make it a good one! :flower1:

It was ridiculous when the twins I teach at home were in virtual, too - way too much time on schoolwork five-year-olds! Their parents are thinking about signing them up in person, though, now that their town will be offering full time.

Has he been checked for sleep apnea? (My DH has it, and uses a CPAP.)

Everybody sleeping in today? Only me and PollyannaMom have been on. I have stripped and remade the bed. Sheets are washed and hanging on the line drying. My shopping list (a small one) is made, and just waiting for hubby to get enough energy up to get dressed so we can leave and get out and back early. Sun is shining and we are up to 40 so far!

We are also sunny and 43.

I have been grocery shopping and back, and am now out in said sunshine with a very demanding cat. 😆

DH has gotten good news and bad news this week. The bad is that his blood sugar numbers are too high, and he is now officially diabetic.

The good news is that he managed to snag a vaccine appointment last night! He goes on Wednesday.

Ive been cleaning. We got new vinyl plank floors in our living and dining room. After 15+ years of older carpet with many stains from pets - it looks so refreshed. So i have been slowly putting plants, bookcases, etc back into the room and awaiting my dining table to be delivered in mid - April. I also made crab cakes in the air fryer, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted beets and butternut squash, and made cinnamon apples last night. I was on a roll, but now way too many dishes to clean up. Have a productive and fun Saturday everyone !

Good Morning, everyone. I love the Spring images so far, thank you, friends :)

Praying extra this morning Dad does well with his second dose. He goes at 10. It's cooler than yesterday so far here and seems darker outside, too. But it's Spring 🌷 As a reminder, the first Hallmark Spring movie is tonight. It didn't look all that good to me, but I'll record it anyway.

Wishing all of you a happy Saturday.

Good afternoon.

Got up this morning and after breakfast headed to Middletown to babysit. DSIL had his second COVID shot and their dog had a groomer's appt at the same time. It was Carter's naptime and DD didn't want to have to take both kids so we went down. It's what grandparents do. We were there maybe 30 minutes between DD leaving and DSIL getting back home and Carter never woke up. Tessa and I were watching a TV show about animals that was interesting then we did an art "project." After Carter woke up and everyone was home, everyone but DSIL went to the neighborhood playground for a bit while DSIL went back to get the dog. Then we parted ways. DH and I went to the Amish Market for grillers (sausages) and donuts. And we found a half dozen Hot Cross Buns. My once a year treat that is becoming harder to find.

It is a beautiful day and 54 so I think we are going for a hike.

Will cook out grillers for dinner with left over Spanish rice from last night and left over green beans from earlier in the week.

Just got back from Lowes and Ace Hardware. The hose guide on my Moen kitchen sink sprayer broke this morning..I will be calling Moen on Monday (lifetime warranty, and since they have replaced the sprayer 5 times in 5 years,,they better be replacing the plastic hose guide too. Lowes had none,,and nothing that would work. Managed to find one (and they only had one) that will work in the meantime at Ace hardware for $2.99,,but it's shiny silver and I want matching brushed stainless steel like the faucet. I would have just bought a whole new faucet at Lowes, but they had none. :( Every place we went by was packed. People enjoying the weather and spending stimulus checks apparently. Restaurants who's parking lots have been almost empty for weeks, are all of a sudden packed. There is no way they are social distancing with that many people in there. I am about to go do a nice long beauty treatment,,then make dinner..and then relax

Sun is shining..temp is 58

@FlyingDumbo---Mona..how did your Dad make out at his second vaccine today..any side effects yet??
