Forgot I wanted to reply to this...

The meal box I ordered (Everyplate) was meh. The produce was a mixed bag of really good (cilantro, green onions, carrots) and bad (old wrinkly zucchini and poblanos, potatoes that were clearly rotten). The meat was...ok..not bad but not the high quality we prefer for meat. When I messaged them about the bad produce, the response I got was not good "you should try xxxx, they do more of the prep work for you." Um, I wasn't talking about the prep; I was talking about the bad produce. They wouldn't resend me the produce, and said no to a partial refund, so we are passing on ordering any more from them. The recipes were fine; but they are the same ones that at least 3 other meal box plans use (in some cases, word for word), so I don't feel we're missing anything there.
Thanks for the update on Everyplate. We're still doing Hello Fresh. The food has been great but its a lot more work than I usually put into my cooking. :rolleyes1  This week, we moved down to only 2 servings as we've had a lot of leftovers when doing 4 servings with just the three of us and none of us are that big into some leftovers. I'll probably add another side or at least a salad if it looks like we won't have enough. I did tell DD, once the coupon runs out I'll just start our own menu plan and include some of our favorites from Hello Fresh since I have the recipe cards.

How has everyone been liking All Creatures Great and Small?

I honestly haven't watched it. We do watch some movies on Disney plus along with some things on youtube but not a lot of tv. Part of it is DH and I both grew up without a lot of access and part of it being that we monitor what we allow our girls to watch especially with 13 year old. 16 year old is allowed to make some decisions with the strict rule that if it is something she knows is inappropriate for her sister she waits until a later time to view it. Otherwise we will take away all her media devices with the exception of her phone that she will be allowed to have if she is not accompanied by us and is outside of the home or if she is babysitting for us at home. She figured out after she lost access to a computer when she was around 10 for sneaking a movie on checkout from the library that I had told her that she could not check out because even though it was a kids movie we do not allow that type of material in our home that mama and daddy mean business and that we will carry through with the consequences for breaking the rules. Call it DH and my if you want the privledge you have to take the responsibility of having that privledge, we also extend it to rights when out in public in teaching our girls that while for example you have the right to free speach that you also have a responsiblity to be kind to others in your speach and that you do not have the right to yell fire in a crowded room inciting a panic rush to the exits when there is not fire because that puts people in danger of being hurt.

Sending prayers for little LJ.

It is 18 degrees here today. It started out at 7 degrees when DH took Jasper out at 6 am. But at least the wind is not bad. We were able to take Jasper for half of his usual walk and we took our walk too. We are expecting 6-12 inches of snow Monday and Tuesday. Also there will be gusty winds so power outages are likely. That is the worst part of any storm. We have been talking about getting a generator but that is as far as we have gotten.

We will be seeing our younger DS and family tomorrow. At least we can see these 3 grandkids. Older DS still won't allow us in his house, until we get the vaccine. I understand in a way because he is a doctor and at the hospital every day and DDIL is a physical therapist in a school. They don't want to give it to us. They have both had the vaccine but from what I understand you can still get the virus and pass it to other people. You just don't get sick yourself. I still wonder about that but who knows. I can't wait to get the vaccine so I can see my other 2 grandkids. It is too cold now to stay outside with the kids.

Happy Saturday.

Afternoon hug to all! So good to see some extra posts this morning :)

I never did get into All Creatures Great and Small. I do have it on my library saved list to one day reread post plague. Did any of you watch The Perfect Catch on Hallmark yesterday? I saw parts of it including the very end. I thought it was odd how such a big deal was made out of the Father/Son Baseball game yet that game was never played! I did like that the baseball player main actor chose to return to the woman and her son he came to love.

My slippers are out for delivery! Hoping to share I really like them later. And guess what already came? Today's USPS mail! Simply amazing. Dad got his first birthday card (his birthday is next week) which was nice, too :)

I haven't actually watched it. Vet shows sometimes make me sad.

It has been cold...cold...cold here the last couple of days! We are supposed to get quite a bit of snow Monday into Tuesday, but I've heard different guesses for exactly how much.

The kids and I have been learning about Groundhog Day and animals that hibernate. I think we're going to do this craft project on Monday:

DH and I went to Staples this morning to get a new computer chair. Our current one has started making scary "about to fall apart" noises if you so much as move wrong. They were having a really good sale on several different models, and I was remembering talk on here (back at the beginning of work-at-home orders and such) about how hard they were to find not very long ago.

I really should be doing some housework now, but I'm feeling lazy, and one of cats is very comfortable using me as a bed. Maybe just a little more DIS time...

Turkey breast in the oven. Broccoli cut and in the pot ready to steam. Table set and serving dishes out. DD and family coming for dinner. Put 2 leaves in the table so each family will sit at opposite ends.

Have you been keeping the closed captioning on?
We, including both kids and their spouses and the cable guy once, have never figured out how to turn them on on the tv. Can get them on Netflix and DVDs but not regular tv programs. :confused3

Sunny and 38 here now..but now it's a storm warning..8-12" of snow..they had better be wrong! I do NOT want to be shoveling that much snow. I started a new puzzle today..I have never done a Ravensburger one before, but I have most of the edges together. Dinner is going to be bacon cheese breadsticks and a big salad. Attached is hopefully what my puzzle will look like when done (who knows how long that will take me, lol). s-l1600.jpg

That groundhog is so cute, PollyannaMom! What a cool project. I sure am hoping for warmer weather soon, that's for sure. Yay that you found a comfortable chair! One day post plague, Staples (for a new chair) is sure high on my to do list. You (and your cats) enjoy some down time :)

Wow, Lynxstch that puzzle is quite an undertaking. Cheering you on, my friend, from afar :)

I wasn't able to record the first episode of Signed, Sealed, and Delivered thanks to the cable box causing trouble again. So glad Spectrum is coming out on Wednesday! There are a couple other episodes later this evening with interesting descriptions so I will try to record one of those.

@lynxstch, the puzzle I'm doing now and the one just before are Ravensburgers but only 500 pieces. They are nice puzzles.

Dinner was nice but always a whirlwind with the almost 4 year old taking out every toy she can find. I have cleaned up dinner but still need to sort toys. So good to see them though. The 8 month old changes so much each time we see him.

Time with children especially so young is just precious, Carol. I'm glad you had a good evening. Lol, that is what 4 year olds do, take out every toy and then not want to pick any of them up!

I have a happy slipper report to make. My feet are so much cozier now than in the open slippers I had been wearing. These are booties. They are a little big even with fuzzy thick socks on but I don't think I'd want them much smaller so it works. For anyone interested they are: Amazon pink slippers. I wear a 9 1/2 shoe. Pre plague, when I was able to go to the store I'd get slippers in the 10-11 (the biggest size) Sometimes with thick socks those didn't work too well. I have also noticed on many a slipper try during this time that started size does not always pan out with fuzzied feet. I got these in one size bigger--the second to last choice for any of you who look.

Hugs to all for a real good evening.

We buried my mom today. Forecast was rain in the morning changing to sun in the afternoon. We got very little rain, most of it was up in Oklahoma, the ground at the cemetary was dry and the sun did come out at noon. Temperature got close to 70. Was perfect. There was a nice size gathering, my uncle was the officiant and did a very good job. We had visitation and a graveside service. At first we just fist bumped but by the time it was all over we were hugging each other. I pray that God put a protection over us and no one ends up with Covid but we just had to give hugs at such a time. Ladies at church brought food over and a couple of them plus a neighbor set everything all up so that it was all ready to eat when we walked in. Was so nice of them to do that.

Praying that LJ is well and ready to go home soon.

Found out today that the grandkids preschool is closed until February 16th due to one of the teachers testing positive for Covid. Lou Lou has been suffering from congestion since Thursday, not running any fever. We're pretty sure that it's just Mountain Cedar allergies but Carol did take her to get tested for Covid this morning. I hope that the test turns out negative.

I've been getting a lot of robo calls, even some of those that say "possible spam". Has anyone ever been spoofed? I was a couple of years ago. I kept getting calls from people saying that a roofing company had called them from my number. Some company was using my number to call people but if you returned their call it came to me. Fortunately all the people that called me was nice about it. I was spoofed again yesterday. I don't know how many people have been calling since I don't answer my landline but I looked at the caller ID once and it read Leslie Bluie. I have an Aunt Leslie and a cousin Leslie but the last name was wrong. I answered anyway and the lady told me that she had received a call from Amazon and she was returning the call. I told her that apparently I had been spoofed and she knew what that was. We talked a minute and then went our own way.

I love fresh chicken eggs. Our neighbors have chickens and give us eggs when they have too many. They have no rooster though so no chance of a fertilized one.

I've watched the first two episodes of All Creatures Great and Small and have enjoyed it.

@lynxstch, I love your puzzle. That's the kind I like to do the most with all the different areas in it. Ravesnburger are good puzzles to put together. I like the materials in which they are made with.

Oh my, I must be losing it today! Posting songs for song threads here lol
Same thing happened to me this morning! lol...

How has everyone been liking All Creatures Great and Small?
We've been enjoying this series. At first, it was a bit jarring because it's so different from the original series (which we really love). But after we persuaded ourselves to watch this new series as just another new series, NOT a re-do of the old series, things went better and now we're into it. :)

One trick that can help with slippers that are too big (especially after they stretch out with use) is to insert a shearling, real or imitation, insole on top of the original insole -- that will help make the fit tighter and keep you warm, too! Learned this trick because most slippers, even in the smallest size, are too big for me.

So glad to hear that all went well with your mom's service and burial. Will pray for continued good health for all and for your granddaughter, too. Big hug for you.

Good morning all. We are under a storm warning for 6-14" of snow. :( There is still a partial full moon, but it's pretty well obscured by clouds. High temp for the day will be what it is outside right now--29 degrees. I hope everyone in the path of this storm stays safe

@Pea-an-me--I was wondering why you had a post up of a song, until I later saw the thread about 'running' songs, and figured that it got posted on this thread by accident

@Kirby- must have been a very trying day for you. That was very nice of your neighbors to make sure you had something to eat. Baby Mateo had to go to the Dr's yesterday morning, as he was a little jaundiced..they said it was pretty normal for newborns. I hope LJ is able to go home soon, and I hope sometime in the near future, you will actually get to hold your new great grandson

@flyingdumbo127- Mona, glad that you got your slippers and that you are comfy in them.

@Breezy_Carol--I figured I might as well try the 1000 piece one first. I had ordered a 500 piece one from Amazon at the same time, but they never shipped it, because it suddenly became out of stock , funny but that happened with a lot of Ravensburger ones at Christmas time, and the prices had almost doubled a month after I ordered my 2. I had bought a 500 piece of a different brand at Walmart, and started it, but the quality is horrible..even though the pieces obviously fit together, they don't stay together tight, and don't make a straight line when the edges are put together. I took it apart, and put it back in the box. Will return the second one I bought next weekend.

Have a nice Sunday all5b5088f43e4c113df3707822f901caee.jpg

Good morning...Brrr... you all are making me freeze through the screen reading all your cold temps....lol We are 34° right now but it's supposed to get up into the 50s today.

Hugs @Kirby I'm sure yesterday was a hard day for you. Praying for a negative test result for your DGD.

@flyingdumbo127 glad you are happy with your slippers.
@lynxstch and @Breezy_Carol you've inspired me and now I want a puzzle. LOL I used to do them all the time when DD was a baby. I've heard from a few friends Ravensburger puzzles are great and others just don't have the same quality. I'm going to have to check them out to see what's available.

I'm up fairly early on a Sunday, for me anyway....lol Hubby woke up about an hour ago(7am our time), which is major sleeping in for him...lol I couldn't fall back asleep when he went out into the family room to watch TV so I think I'm going to shower and we may go get breakfast. Outdoor dining is open again here in CA but it's too cold to eat outside so we will probably just bring it back home or eat it in the car.

Good news and bad news from the HVAC tech yesterday.... the bad news is the company that put the new unit in did a sloppy job and did mess up some of the ductwork even though they said they didn't even touch it. The good news is at least the home warranty company now has to cover the expense of repairs and not us but there needs to be an investigation now so who knows when it will be fixed. Hopefully we don't get much rain until then and he assured us it was still safe to use the heater, we've been making due with the fireplace but it doesn't exactly heat the whole house. LoL We've had some cold mornings the last week. I usually keep the thermostat at 65 at night and one morning we woke up and it was 56° :cold:

Looking forward to my first week NOT working. I already have a few thing I have to get done and I'll probably go up and do some cleaning at my parents house to get it ready for when my mom comes home. I can't wait to go to the Farmers Market on Thursday...I never get to go because I'm always working.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone and stay warm...❤

Stay warm indeed. Drinking my cup of hot tea now. I have a folding table setup with all the clothes my teens and a few jammies and workout clothes i got for Christmas . Slowly rinsing out the new clothes, once that is done, I plan to start a puzzle. Just 10 minutes here and there putting it together sounds soothing and a way not to be looking at so much news on tv.
have a great Sunday everyone! Light a candle or listen to some soothing music today
