I'm watching the Candy Cane movie with Beverley Mitchell right now! I didn't even realize that I'd recorded it until it was mentioned in previous posts! This one is kinda cute... :)

@Breezy_Carol, I hope your appointment goes well!

I have to remember that today is an early release day for the schools, so Josh will be coming home in about an hour. He was scared to get on the bus today because his regular bus has a flat front and the one that came had the engine out front. Substitute driver as well, so he insisted that wasn't his bus. I'm kind of glad he did that! I hope that means that he's smart enough to not get into a strange car with someone he doesn't know.

My mom and I made a quick trip to one of our grocery stores and it was awful - they are rearranging the aisles. It's bad enough that you can't find anything when they do that, but they are also stocking the shelves during open hours. People ignore the directional arrows, so now you can't get down aisles at all because you have customers trying to go both directions, along with stock carts and employees blocking the way. As I was coming up one aisle, where the doorway to the stockroom was at the far end, I could very definitely smell fresh cigarette smoke. A few minutes later, when we were up front trying to find an open register, a young man who worked there walked by and I could smell it on him. Ugh...I just can't handle smoke. I lived with a pipe smoker for 24 years...the tobacco itself was a wonderful scent, but the smoke is nauseating  :crazy2:

On our local news this morning, we have a lady who does "steals and deals" and they were offering the Happy Napper for 20% off. Josh has been asking for "the shark one" for the entire year, so I ordered it. I think I have to be done with him for Christmas now. We probably have enough, between what we'll give him, what my in-laws will take to give him (they don't do their own shopping), and what Santa will bring. I hope my delivery from PEZ arrives before he gets home; I got him the Blue's Clues and the holiday Mickey and Minnie gift sets.

I spent the morning rearranging my bookcases in the living room, and since I was at it, I got out all of our framed holiday photographs. Like the Christmas card I made the year DH and I were married, the "Baby's First Christmas" photo of the 3 of us, the one from Gillette Stadium where we had our photo taken with Santa on the field (DH loved that...being on the field where Tom Brady played ;) ), etc. It's probably going to take me until Christmas to get everything set up!

Our thread is really slipping! :(

I hope you enjoy the Candy Cane movie, Apirateslifeforme. I'm going to be DVR-ing a couple movies this afternoon and will share how I like them when I've watched them. I will keep an eye out for the Candy Cane movie. I always used to stay at the Candy Cane Inn by DL. Any type of tobacco or otherwise smoke can stay far from me, no thanks! I am glad you got some Christmas shopping done for Josh :)

I hope all of you are having a good afternoon.

Waiting for our Governor's 5PM news conference. It's not looking good....
My heart breaks for all of the small & medium business owners that won't be able to survive this, that have been hanging on up till now by a thread, especially for so many that depend on the holiday shopping season and everything that trickles down from that.

You got that right..does not look good for small and medium businesses. This will just about finish them off if they can only be open at 50% capacity thru the holidays :( I was actually surprised that he didn't say that he was going to shut down gyms and places like that again. I have to wonder if I am going to see them counting people going in and out of Walmart again this weekend. Haven't seen them doing it for the last 2 weeks, I think they are just getting lax about it.

Good Morning All!

Sparkle, your posting of the Serenity Prayer brought back the memory that my Grandpa had it posted above his desk in our den. Its words are a great reminder.

I'm glad some of you are enjoying more Spring-like weather :) Here, for here, it is cold. I was so grateful last night to wear my new soft and light fleecy pajamas from Walmart+ an ancient long sleeve T of Dad's (I typically don't like the tops that come with PJ sets). I most definitely recommend the Secret Treasure Brand of sleepwear from Walmart.

NYCgrrl, I often did better on the math section of some standardized tests, too. In school once I got to older elementary I was usually better at English. I just never did well having to write an essay or whatever in a certain amount of time from scratch.

Happy Monday :)
Trust me, I was a math dodo for way too many years but didn’t pass it on to my kiddos, thank goodness. The ex was able to keep the children on track when it came to that subject and I thank him for something as a change of pace 😉 .

Made it to the local farmers‘ market early this morning and it was fun talking with the vendors before they get really busy and have less time to tell you about the uses for the various winter squashes, how long the Concord grape harvest will go on, etc. The market will close the week before Thanksgiving and they’ll be sorely missed :sad1:.
We had 5 more volunteers sign on to the Thanksgiving meal in the building and I ve assigned them chores before they realise what kind of fresh Hades they're in for :lmao:

Can’t find Concord grapes anywhere around here.

Alright, let me try this again.

First, that picture doesn't do the tree justice. It is so yellow. And if you notice the leaves under, I took this picture about 4:30 and DH mowed at about 10 this morning.

My doctor's appt was good. I like the office staff and the doctor. I have some concerns, that I won't go into here, but she took me seriously and ordered an x-ray and more blood work. I have a follow up in a month. Two additional pluses, she is female and only 5 minutes from my house.

I have a dentist transition story too. We lived in Baltimore before we moved 50 miles to Elkton. It was easier to just go back to him twice a year and visit my parents while I was there. But then I went for a scheduled visit and found he had retired and I was seeing his replacement. I wish they would have told me before I drove 50 miles. I saw him that day then told him I had no problem with him but if I was seeing a new dentist, I would find one closer to home.

After my appt, DH and I took another hike (2.75 miles) while the weather is still nice before the rains come.

@bobbiwoz, love the ocean picture.

Well that sounds pretty positive @Breezy_Carol!

I’ve decided to use my crock pot more. Today I browned some chicken breasts then put them in there w some carrots and chicken broth. Toward the end added some Italian/pole beans. It was cooked perfectly but the chicken was a little dry. What was I missing? Maybe this is why people always use soups like Cream of Mushroom and such?

I forgot one other thing with all this talk of Hallmark movies. I saw this on Facebook but can't share it here because it is Facebook live. There is a husband and wife team that post as The Holderness Family. They do a lot of parodies on songs to relate them to current events. After watching numerous Hallmark movies, they did a 4-5 minute take off on Hallmark movies. It was funny and I wish I could share here.

My suggestion based on what you reported. Either don’t brown the chicken breasts or cook them for less time in the crockpot. Breasts have minimum fat and thus cook faster than darker meat.

They post them on Instagram too, if anyone wants to check them out and doesn’t have Facebook.

I'm so excited tonight to find the original "Yours, Mine and Ours" with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda on the streaming service I signed up for to watch Hallmark Movies. I love this movie, after they did a remake with Dennis Quiad and Rene Russo I could never find the original on TV.

Today was the 245th birthday Marine Corps birthday since hubby is a Marine(once a Marine, always a Marine...lol) a chocolate cake to celebrate. And like most years, tomorrow for Veterans Day, I have the day off and my veteran doesn't...poor guy. LOL

I bought a couple things for Thanksgiving today when I went to the store, figured I would get all the boxed and canned items now so all I need to get closer to the day will be the fresh produce. My grandma called to ask if we minded her coming up for Thanksgiving, I told her we would love to have her so unless the weather is bad she'll be joining us.

Good morning all. Rainy and dreary all day here, but temps near 70 again. No plans for the day, waiting to see if work actually believes he's on vacation and stops the phone calls and emails. Laundry is in, dinner will be leftover chicken pie, so I don't have to plan anything. Might just be a good day to nap and watch movies. Working my way through the Lifetime, Hallmark and Hallmark Movie Christmas ones slowly but surely.
@AuntieMe3 I love the original Yours,Mine, and Ours too. I 'think' that I originally saw it in a movie theater, that's how old it is and how old I am, lol!
Have a great day everyone!
