yes, we have the black dress shoes for band concerts, worn twice, I made them wear them on Christmas church too!
Josh - children’s place pants have the great elastic and buttons, can get good deals at the outlet store .
Jeopardy , oh yeah, we tried thecwatch the show earlier trick on my family too
Fun memory
Christmas store at the beach, had the best wooden decorations , but left a few years back.
I’m enjoying “ Christmas .candy lane maybe ?” Lifetime movie with Bev Mitchell. They use real snow , or close to it, since I see slush too in their movies . Her florist show would be a fun store to be the owner of

No Christmas Tree Shops here in CA :( I do have the vague memory of their being such a store (very small) YEARS ago at Disneyland. The gift shop near the Winnie the Pooh ride often has quite a few ornaments as does the Emporium. I don't think there is currently an actual ornament, etc. store.

Apirateslifeforme, thanks for sharing about your Grandpa, I'm so glad you have that memory! Hug, your Grandpa just might be talking Jeopardy in Heaven with Alex. Maybe my Grandma may even be chiming in.

Sparkle, did you ever see the movie Bed of Roses? I have not seen it in years! I do remember it had some darker/semi creepy parts to it. Christian Slater's character was a florist. He enjoyed being one because he got to deliver flowers to people and know his delivery would be something they'd be happy to get.

It’s so nice out I’m sitting on the screened porch with my iPad. The yellow leaves are blowing off the trees like snow. Flocks of black birds flying over. Earlier I had a woodpecker and blue jay at my sunflower seed feeder. And the sounds of kids playing outside.

Raise your hand if your sons/daughters closest was at one time littered with the black shoes he needed for that one-off school event or wedding/funeral...extra points if feet grew two sizes in between these events and old black shoes didn't fit his brother/sister either!

My kids were in band forever. Black pants and white shirt. And of course a boy and a girl so no sharing. Same for band shoes. Then in college different shoes. And of course each took a turn at drum major in high school so had to have white shoes that year instead of black. And now that you have to buy, not rent the gowns for graduation, we own four because none could be used for the other school or kid. In the house clean out when they moved, so many band shoes and gloves.

It is warm here today, around 70. It is supposed to get cooler later in the week and the weekend.

Jasper had his recheck today. The vet said he is doing very well. His lungs sound good. The xray shows that the pneumonia is almost gone, but there is still just a little spot. Jasper will be on antibiotics for another week. The vet thought his GI issues may be due to one of the anti nausea meds and took him off it. He also recommended getting him back to his usual food slowly. That may also help. Jasper now has no exercise restrictions so he can go on his full walk. He can go to the groomer next month and the kennel any time. I am still glad we canceled our trip as we did spend most of the money on doggie health and I would worry about him. We just booked Disney for next November as a pick me up. Next year we hope to go twice, May and November to make up for missing this year. Now I can start saving.

Thank you for the reminder about the Serenity Prayer. That is something that is definitely needed in these times. I have been looking for something to bring some peace to things.

I have been watching Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies. I saw Candy Cane Lane yesterday. It was a cute little movie. I tried watching the Darlings but I really couldn't get into it. This is my first year of watching these movies. My attention span needs a bit of work.

My boys always had black shoes in their closets along with white shirts and black or navy dress pants. Younger DS was in band for a few years. They both had school shows that the whole school was in and dress clothes were needed. I remember having them try on the clothes every few months just in case we needed to get a bigger size. They grew very quickly.

I looked them up - looks like there is 2 in Delaware and 2 in Maryland...huh. I might take a drive to check one of them out!

Thanks for that info..duh, I never thought to look it up. There is one in Hagerstown..that's only about 40-45 min from here. Might be a nice time to take a drive out that way since he's on 2 weeks vacation, lol!

I wanna go to all the fun sounding places you guys have.

Today the high was supposed to be 52 but it didn't even feel like it got there. Brrrr(for us Southern Californians that's really cold. Haha) We had a repair guy come out for our fridge finally, he needs to replace the motherboard. The lady in the office called me back after he left and said its on backorder for a couple weeks. So we might not have it fixed my Thanksgiving. Oh well, our little fridge will have to make due until then. I just won't be able to make most of the sides the night before like I usually do. Last year it was our oven, we needed it replaced and they kept postponing the install. It was put in the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, talk about cutting it close. LOL Fingers crossed this is the final fix we need to do, its already been repaired three times in the three years we've had it...turns out we bought a discontinued model, no wonder we got such a great price. Thank goodness for home warranty plans.

I did some fall decorating today...was going to crop out the dog but decided to keep him in it. He was just out running around like a loon so his tongue is sticking way out. :lmao: 537427

Hi All! Had some really long shifts followed by a busy weekend! :goodvibes Had a nice long walk in our cranberry bogs with the family dogs on an absolutely gorgeous day yesterday, shopped for fun for girlie stuff w my DD and son’s girlfriend, ate out, and had friends over for drinks and a meal outside by the fire pit. Good weekend!

We felt the earthquake here in MA! We were sleeping when we heard some stuff outside fall against the house and Toto started barking like mad and ran downstairs to investigate! DS said he thought it sounded like a truck going by (like someone else here said). I was surprised to hear later it was an earthquake!!

I also love Christmas Tree Shops! I get most of my seasonal stuff there, but I try to go early or late and not mid-day when it’s super crowded. I always spend way more than I intended to. We were also at TJ Maxx this weekend and they had a lot of nice Christmas gifts! I got myself an outdoor shawl type thing that has a clasp I love those! We all got one, actually, but I may go back to get one for my sister, too. @apirateslifeforme I’m glad to read you and your mother had a nice outing together in anticipation of the holidays. ❤ I think I told you that my mother and I had spats here and there, too, with us living together, but I’ve really been missing her lately and the many fun outings we used to have together, too. Enjoy the times you can.

Ah, the Serenity Prayer. We had it hanging in my house growing up, too, so it’s ingrained in me. I cleaned out my nightstand the other day and found a book of prayers that I stopped to read through and it slowed me down considerably!😝 But I enjoyed them. Prayer is the #1 Complementary Therapy that people all over the world use in times of personal strife or need for health or healing.

Oh, Toto went to a new groomer last week and it was as good as I had hoped, reasonably priced and they did an excellent job! So we are leaning toward getting the puppy (speaking of puppies) I think it will be a good thing for us and for our family. Toto turns seven this year so it will be nice to have another of a different age and stage. I am so happy to read about Jasper doing better @Snowysmom and to see pics and hear about others’ dogs and puppies here. Turtles? :faint: I thought you were talking about turtle (candy) flavored ice cream @easyas123 ! :lmao:

Have a good week, everyone! 🍂🍁

Good Tuesday morning.

I have PCP doctor appt today. I am changing from the MD I've had for 25+/- years. For the last year I've felt he didn't take my concerns seriously. He's a nice guy but?? Then he joined a large practice and when I called for an appt I couldn't get through. That is a big NO to me. So I am going to a female solo practitioner near me who I have dealt with when seeing my PT patients. I hope this goes well.

So glad you had a fun outing, Pea! I look forward to hearing about and seeing pictures of your new puppy (should you get one)

Hug Carol, prayers your appointment goes well. Good for you for finding a new doctor. I know that is not always easy to do especially in a doctor (or dentist) sense. You are the paying customer and also person putting your trust into the care/experience of another. They in turn need to be respectful of you and the partnership they have with you. Take care. I hope all goes just fine.

Let us know how it goes, @Breezy_Carol ! I think I would’ve done the same thing. I’ve had to part w some long term care associates - one a hairdresser and one a dentist. Fortunately I’ve found really good ones now and am happy I made the moves. The dentist was actually one who had taken over for ours who had retired. I had high hopes in the beginning, but we all (family) became uncomfortable with the people she had working for her. But then a filling came out when I was staying in the hospital w my mother during a very difficult week, and she didn’t even return my call. When she finally did, she was dismissive and rude. So BYE!!! I had previously stumbled across a nice dental office when I was shopping one day, and voila, just like that, we made the move. They have been great! It can be hard to do it though, for sure. My hairdresser and I were actually friends, but it became really hard to get an appt and practically impossible to change it once you did; if you did, you caught her absolute wrath! Life is too short for that. Now I really love the beauty of being able to call and easily get an appt the same day or week and everyone is friendly. Cuts have been good, too, which is really the only thing that allowed me to go. I have to hold onto this new lady, she’s like gold to me! :lmao: I tip her really well (and still pay less than I did before!)

I feel the same way as the others about it being the right time to change Drs when you feel they are no longer listening to you, or they don't seem to care. Seems that everytime my husband finds one he likes, that does listen, sooner or later , they all leave. That just happened with his cardiologist, who has only been with the practice for 2 years. We received a letter dated Oct 2, got it on Oct 31, and she was leaving 2 days later. Why on earth print them up so far ahead, and then not mail them till she's just about gone. We have no idea who is taking her place. This is the third time in less than 5 years that it's happened, and we are not happy about it
It is already 72 degrees here, and I just finished putting the Christmas lights up on the front porch. It was so hot that I had to come in and get a cool drink. Think I will finish on Thursday when it's only supposed to be 60 lol!
Have a nice day everyone..good luck with your Drs appt @Breezy_Carol !

Ah!
I mentioned (in another thread) that I had been trying to get a call back from a pool installation Company since March and boom! I just got a call from the sales guy...he can't come out to take a look and give us a quote until the end of the month. Plus he told me construction was booked up thru NEXT November! Crazy, but I'm glad they are so busy, it's good! We are thinking of having a simple glorified plunge pool put it, but until we can even get a price we don't know if it's possible....

It is once again a beautiful day in the neighborhood. I'm going to have my lunch outside, it's to nice not to.

I put a roast of sorts (shoulder of venison) in the oven this morning to slow cook, so that along w/ some rice and a salad is what we will have for dinner.

Hug, and I am sorry to hear any of you have had bad doctor experiences! I sure have had both medical doctor and dentist experiences that were less than satisfactory to keep it simple! Pea, I hear you especially on being uncomfortable with a replacement dentist. My former dentist was wonderful. Due to my TMJ issues, I go for regular cleanings every couple months. This keeps them much shorter which works so much better for me. I had seen my long time dentist just two months before I saw his replacement for the first time as his new patient (I had seen this doctor a couple times previously just to meet him while my current dentist was still practicing). Former dentist, at my last appointment with him, said everything looked wonderful. To keep up the great work. He saw no issues whatsoever. Replacement dentist two months later, decides a whole host of things need to be taken care of immediately! He had zero compassion for the pain his recommendations would cause me (TMJ wise especially) or the cost or the fact that his former long time colleague/my former dentist just 2 months before had said all was wonderful! He sadly, it seemed, just wanted to do things his way or possibly was after extra money :(

By God's Grace along with help from a church pastor who is a dear friend of mine, I finally got the courage to seek a second opinion from her longtime family dentist. This person is now my beloved dentist who I pray does not retire anytime soon. He is elderly. He is so kind and honest. I will always remember that when he heard that money was tight for me, he ended up giving me the initial consult for FREE. He and his wife (receptionist) insisted. I never asked. I wish the replacement dentist the best but so grateful to have a new dentist now! Don't be intimidated or perhaps afraid as well to keep searching for a healthcare provider of any type who you truly feel a rapport with!

Easyas123, enjoy your lunch in the sunshine :)
