Hugs and continued prayer PollyannaMom!

AuntieMe3, that is so funny and also cute! I did very briefly as a young child wonder if just maybe toys did somehow come alive when I was not in the room if even for a moment. I was attached more to some than others. I have shared before that I will always wish I had kept my playmobil kids, I know when my family had a huge garage sale, for years Grandma would say she wished she could take another look through what she chose to sell and maybe make a different choice! I felt the same about a lot of kids books I let go of. But I also know all that was just "stuff." It might be nostalgic to see it again but I would not want to store it again. I will one day post plague hit up the library big-time! :) On an animal note, I once took a picture of all my animals on my dad's bed! I THINK there were close to 100 this was when I was less than 10 so I understand stuffie love :)

@PollyannaMom, so many prayers going out to your nephew and your family. Any positive news is good, and fingers crossed that it will continue to be positive.

Thank you all for the kind and positive words about Josh starting school. My mind has constantly gone to "bad" places since he was born...I guess it's common after doing IVF, and I also have PTSD from everything I went through with that plus losing Josh's siblings. I've always said, I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. But I'm feeling better this morning - I know that the things I'm thinking are VERY unlikely to happen. The teachers do this every year and they're probably feeling just as anxious as I am (maybe even more so, as we're all in uncharted territory with the virus in our midst). My mother said that maybe next week we can take a ride over to the school and just walk around outside. We're also waiting for our info from the principal about picking up his iPad; I am hoping that Josh can go with me and meet him (and possibly even his teacher?).

As we were finishing up our dinner around 6 p.m. last night, our doorbell started ringing obnoxiously. DH got upset, but I right away knew that only one person would do that. I had Josh come with me and he screamed "Grandma!" so loudly when I opened the door. Never saw 2 people that were so happy to see each other. She made it in record time, too - left Illinois at around 2:30/3 a.m. (central, about 3:30/4 a.m. here) and got here in 14 1/2 hours. Well, she does have a terrible lead foot... I'm sure nobody remembers me posting that our highway transponder didn't work for her at one of the gantries on her way out, but it worked after that. Well, she got stuck at the exact same one on the way home, but she had no issues with any others. So that tells me that something isn't working correctly at that particular toll. For all our differences, I'm glad she's back. It will just be nice to have a car available during the week again and not have to go grocery shopping on weekends!

Not much happening today, though. She had to go have that proof-of-residency letter notarized, for Josh's school, but we're all just hanging out, relaxing, and enjoying the cooler, low-humidity weather.

Aww , yay that Josh and Grandma were so happy to see one another that is so sweet and good! I think it is a great idea to have you and your mom walk around the outside of the school and maybe also meet the principal along with Josh's teacher!

Cool to get to "see" WDW" from CA, Lynxstch, thank you :)

Adorable! Made my morning, AuntieMe3, thank you! Is the animal in front a Gund dog? The animal next to the lion and near Tweety? If so, I had that too! I have the big version along with the identical smaller dog to a church family with now three little girls. The animals names were Honey (Small) and Yummy (Big)

How did the accident happen @PollyannaMom? We used to hang around a skate park with some friends when our kids were young and I was always nervous there with everything being made from granite. In a battle with a head the granite will always win! Working in a pediatric ER early in my career made it hard for me sometimes as a parent. Overall pretty relaxed but I knew when to be worried.

@apirateslifeforme I understand that feeling of being accustomed to loss. It was something I had to work through, as well. Yoir Josh, though, is going to be awesome in school and do big things, you wait and see! I’m glad that you were all happy to have your mother home. I’m sure she missed you all terribly, as well. Maybe a new appreciation for eachother?

@Meriweather , your grandson is so proud!

Downer time here. I have tried not to share the details all along. MIL passed away yesterday. She was a month short of 94. In assisted living and in a decline since before COVID, but the isolation made it worse. Then a week ago she fell and broke her hip. Surgery wasn't really an option so she went back to the facility with hospice. DH and his sister were allowed in to visit this past week. Service is Friday with only family, less than 20 people.

On top of that, yesterday when I went to the farm I fell and twisted my ankle, which is now swollen. But I keep going.

The silver lining is that both kids will be here Friday and we will finally have the crab feast I've wanted since we got the screened porch last year. DH agreed that was a good after funeral meal.
