Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I think you guys raise some very valid points. I'll offer this - based on Lynn's comments it may also be a situation of you can't help those who won't help (or speak up or insist on their own behalf) themselves. What a overall frustrating situation for Lynn to experience.

Just a quick stop by, gotta run up to the Reading, PA area in a few minutes. TaTa everyone!
Drive safely!

Good morning. It's 28, stayed there overnight, heading for mid 30's

I got a call from Summer last night, that Lily had been at work (Walmart), and backed into someone's car. Come to find out, it's my sister laws truck. They were parked across from each other, neither knew it was the other. Lily saw the trucks brake lights on, so waited and waited for them to move before she backed out. (SIL has a bad habit of pulling in, then backing up and pulling in several times until she's perfectly aligned according to her camera). Finally Lily thought they weren't going to move so she backed up, just as they decided to move at the same time and she backed into their back drivers side door. SIL refused to give Lily her insurance information. Lily was upset (her second accident, and her premiums are already $200 a month) and gave them her info right away. SIL said there was no damage to the truck, but Lily's tail light assembly was broken. Summer was in town so she went right up there to calm Lily down. They went in the store to ask security to pull up the camera's and see who was at fault. She never called me back so I don't know if they saw anything or not.
They each have their own version, they each say the other is at fault. SIL offered to pay for the new tail light assembly, but not having it put on. She called me this morning crying, spent 25 minutes telling me the same story over and over again, but now she says there are scratches on the truck so she's going to call insurance and report the accident.
I'm staying out of it, I wasn't there, I don't know what happened. Both of their rates will go up, but that's on them, not on me.

I also found out that Lily's not going back to school, supposedly taking a semester off, something about her FSA money not coming in on time and her advisor told her she couldn't go back since the semester had already started again. Someone isn't telling the truth somewhere along the line.
Then I found out that Novartis won't give me my entresto for free this year, tells me my income is too low? I'm not paying $1500 for a 90 days supply, that's for sure. (and that's with insurance!).
So my day has started so well,,not, lol!

I hope everyone is well, so many people seem to be missing lately.

Have a good day.

Lynn So sorry about the Entresto. How can your income be too low? There really needs to be a better way for people to be able to get and afford the meds they need. Summer and her family are really having a tough time. I hope things do turn around for them. The car accident in the parking lot sounds like a no win situation.

Judique I get some soup recipes on EatingWell.com. I signed up for emails and get some good recipes. Here is a link to the one I will try this weekend:

Good sunny morning, 11 now heading for upper 30's. I'll take it.

Summer and my SIL are at odds over that fender bender. SIL's insurance told her to go the dealer and see how much it would cost to fix the scratches. If it's too much for her, to file a claim against Lily's insurance. Lily is insisting that it wasn't her fault. Not my problem, but SIL called me at least 4x yesterday and sent me a million texts. I finally just put her on block for awhile. I'm staying out of it!

Have a good day

Lynn Good idea to stay out of the fray between families. And Summer doesn't need this with being sick.

Bobbiwoz I hope you had a nice cruise. Gus will be so happy to see you!

Good Morning. It is 19 now with temps getting near 30 today. I went to the gym early today. It is somewhat busy at 7:15 as they do classes so I think I will go back to going in the afternoon when I go on Saturday. Last Sunday I went at 8 and it was perfect, not too many people. I feel like a slug lately with not being able to get out as much as I want due to the cold. I have the veggie minestrone soup cooking in the crock pot. In 8 hours I should have soup! It is for tomorrow and other nights during the week but I will try a bit tonight. I find the flavors really come out in soups when they sit for a while in the fridge. Heading out to do some errands. Jeff and family are busy this weekend so not likely to see them. Kenny said he wants to come by today after work. He didn't tell me why but it wasn't one of those I am just stopping by to see you visits. I have ideas what it may be about but I will have to wait to see. Patience is not my strong point.

Have a good Saturday.

It could be a situation where they each have to pay for their own damage. Equally at fault. I'm with you! Staying out of it is best.
It's a no win situation. Any photos taken at the scene? Any security video?

This is one of those situations where both parties should have stayed calm. No one hurt, very minor damage. Deductibles come into play.

Still, I'm nosy enough to want to know the insurance outcome if they come into play. I definitely have watched too much Judge Judy!

She would probably snarl - FIX YOUR OWN CARS!!!! Lol!

And it looks like our temp is going to crack 35 degrees at almost noon, with a possible high of 38 today. 25 days till my Florida trip!!

I'm also in a state of confusion booking for next December, January and February. Owning at Boardwalk means I have to be on it at 11 months out. This December booking was tough but the next ones are easier.

I also have 5 nights in November booked as I found a deal offsite. It will allow me to do Food & Wine Festival which I've missed since I started waiting until December. There will be not much time inbetween (to include Thanksgiving) so I may alter something but I won't know until I sort of get there timewise. A lot can happen in the next 9 and a half months.

Nothing is getting done here today! I'm in lazy mode.

Yes they both took pictures, but it was also dark out, so just the parking lot lights. Walmart has security video, I'm still waiting for Summer to tell me what it showed.

SIL is taking her car to the collision lot on Monday to see how much it would cost to fix it, before she goes after Lily's insurance. Lily couldn't get them to give her their insurance info and SIL's person at Progressive said it's not a law that you have to give it to another driver. I thought it was but maybe I'm wrong. SIL lives in WV, as does Lily, but the accident happened in MD.
SIL is an almost 70 year old (with a lot of accidents on her record , Lily is under 21, and has only had car insurance for the last year, and this will be her second accident, the first happening in their own driveway when she backed into a car she didn't see in her blind spot.

I'll let you know the outcome if anyone ever tells me, lol.

Dad is supposed to be coming home today. He told my mom he wanted to stop for sandwiches on the way home, she said no way that he will be eating healthier from now. At almost 89 and having spent 2 weeks in the hospital again, part of it on a pureed diet I would have stopped for him to get a sandwich.

@lynxstch - smart move staying of the drama. I had a similar accident a few years ago, a young kid with a permit backed up just as I did. His mother got out of the car screaming at me. I had a busted taillight; I don't think they had much damage. The mother called the cops and wanted me arrested for leaving the scene. I gave them my info which was all I needed to do, and I had theirs. I called my insurance and reported it but told them I would deal with my damage on my own. I only needed to replace the light and my adopted daughter's husband did the repair. In the end it was a 50/50 accident, placing us both at equal fault. That's usually how these types of accidents play out.

I have been fighting with Comcast over my cable for 3 days now. The bill went up a bit. First person lowered it by $50 everything the same. No she didn't she cancelled Starz and my husband's sports package, He spent 2+ hours last night, got it lowered, everything the same but for some reason my internet went out. Took 4 phone calls of getting cut off before my husband called. Another 2+ hours but the internet came back. I had to change my Comcast password for the app but not the internet. Sent me the link to confirm it but it won't let me because the bill is in Jim's name. Waiting for yet another phone call to try and straighten that out now. This is ridiculous. Unfortunately, right now I am locked in for a year. I told my husband over the next year we will be looking at alternatives. I've been with Comcast since the 80's but the customer service is horrible and try and get a real person on the phone - the automated system cuts you off.

Not much else going on around here. At least the weather went up to a balmy 35 or 36 today. So much better than the teens earlier in the week. Hope you all have a great night

Tazdev I hope your Dad is home now and comfortable. I agree with you that he deserves a nice sandwich. At 89 he should be able to have what he wants.

Lynn I hope Summer is feeling better. It will be interesting how the car issue works out.

Good morning. It is 25 here now with temps heading to the low 30s. I went to the gym again today. It is not crowded at all early Sunday morning so it is a good time to go. Kenny came by yesterday. I really thought he had something to discuss with me from the way he asked to talk with me but he just wanted to chat. He has had a few rough days at work so he needed to decompress a bit. So I listened. He said the Feb 5 court date should be the final decisions for the divorce. It is about time. Then he set up cable on my second TV on my office/second bedroom. He said the kids want to have a sleepover at Nanas. I do know how that will go. They will last a couple of hours but when bedtime comes they will want to go home. But that is OK. Home is only 12 minutes away. I thought maybe on Feb vacation week,. I made the minestrone soup yesterday. I tried a spoonful and it was tasty. It smelled really good while cooking. Looking forward to having it for supper tonight and for a few nights after that. Off to Kohls. I am looking for new bathroom rugs for outside the tub and shower. I can't find what I want online or in other stores so I thought I would try Kohls.

Have a good Sunday.

Good sunny, Sunday morning. I thought the high winds last night were bringing in another cold front, but it brought it some warm air. It was 40 degrees overnight and we're heading for mid 40's today. It already feels nice outside compared to what it's been like.

I talked to Summer last night for about half an hour. She said she's buying the part for Lily's tail light, and that her husband will put it in. That if my SIL files a claim with Lily's insurance, that they'll appeal it. It is a law in MD that you have to exchange insurance information. Walmart says they can't show Lily the video footage because the police weren't called, but that they could see why my SIL was at a standstill half in half out of the parking space for more than 45 seconds. It was just coincidence that both of them moved at the same time. They were going to call the police when they went back outside, but SIL had left. Technically she left the scene of an accident, also against the law here. So Summer does have a couple of reasons to file an appeal if SIL goes the insurance route. I told Summer the same thing, I'll listen, but I'm not giving any opinions because I wasn't there.

Making a crockpot roast for dinner tonight. I think I'm going to take a walk outside in this 'nicer' weather.

@Snowysmom You're right, Kenny's divorce case has gone on way too long. I hope things do get settled on Feb 5, and that it's fair to everyone, especially the children

Have a good day

I drove over to my son's house today. Almost got creamed on the Beltway on my way back by a vehicle being driven by some idiot swerving in and out of traffic. They came so close my sensor pinged. DD was with me and gasped as the vehicle came up on us.

Anyway, my car is full of sensors that go off when someone comes into my space or if I wander as I drive. And when in parking spaces it pings when I'm backing up if a person or a car are moving and I'm not seeing them and not stopping fast enough. This is one of the good things about modern vehicles, so many safety features. Some people still disable them. I found the pings distracting when I first got this car and could have turned them off but powered through and now I'm happy to have these extra eyes. I'm much more conscious of how I drive as that keeps them quiet, and if a mistake is made, I have a warning that might prevent an accident.

It just hit 40° here in Cape May.

It’s just a day to get settled at home and watch the Eagles!

I did finish the book I brought on the cruise,” In the Midst of Winter” by Isabel Allende. I enjoyed it!

@Judique, I also like the safety features of modern cars!

I'll be checking in on the Commanders. My son got irritated with me earlier when I told him I once claimed the Eagles as 'my' team.

Having been a military wife, but not really a football fan, I took various postures - we were in Texas and my Ex was a at the time and still is a Redskins/Commanders fan so got a lot of ribbing from the Cowboy's fans. There was a big rivalry back then between the two teams. I just took myself outside of it by claiming the Eagles. Then there was the time when we were divorced and I felt my son needed some sports exposure so I took him to a Redskins/Cowboys game. He enjoyed it and I survived it.

Good luck to both teams!

Good afternoon! Just finishing up a week at Disney, the time went by so fast! We had awful weather - cold and wet - the first several days but we still ventured out and had fun. Good thing about it was that the parks were rather empty and we got to do a lot with short wait times. When Thursday hit and the sun came out, everyone decided to go into the parks and all four were crazy busy! It was great watching the kids on their first Disney trip, and DD’s boyfriend, as well. Also looking forward to seeing the dogs when we get home!

Lynn, my mother would say if that family didn’t have bad luck they’d have no luck at all! I hope it all works out.

Taz, glad Dad is coming home. I’d get him a sandwich but keep it rather soft, lol. Have you been keeping up with Outlander? I loved the recent episodes of Season 7, among my favorites of the whole series. We are deciding what to do about cable, too. We have cable but we also have streaming set up too on our large screen TV. I think the latter is getting to be almost as expensive as cable as they jack up the prices all the time. And I hate having to deal with signing up for apps every time you turn it on. 😬 We’ll see what happens.

Hope everyone is well, including our friend, Mona. 🙏 Have a good week! 🐥

My sister in law has a 2 year old Hyundai Santa Cruz 'truck', it pings when you look at it cross eyed. Yet it didn't go off when Lily got close to the car? Makes no sense. SIL said it the truck activated the emergency brake, but I say it should have warned her that someone was within hitting distance also.

Absolutely makes no sense. I remember you talking about that truck and it stuck in my mind as my kids father came to town with the same truck not long after and a tree fell across it at my son's house. I just didn't put together this person was the same person in the accident.

My Kia with all the sensor bells and whistles would have been pinging and the pings would have increased in intensity the closer I got without stopping. It definitely gives you enough time to reevaluate what is happening and stop. I've had the braking happen on the highway getting close to vehicles in front at high speeds when I didn't change lanes fast enough for the car's liking. It would still probably be judged as contributary negligence 50/50 for both parties.

Mona & I have a friendship away from the boards & I hadn't heard from her.
I'm so glad I was "nudged" to check here.
I will continue to check here for any updates.
Please let her know that I've been praying for her and yes,
whatever happened to bring her to the hospital was a blessing.

I will keep you all in prayer, also.
