Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

:grouphug:Easyas and good to see you. Dad and I are trying to find a Fall decoration for our wall and it's not easy! Tablecloths seem scarce these days too at least at any price we want to pay lol. Prayers you do have a good weekend! Thank you so much on my foot. A cool towel helped! I will do that again a couple times tomorrow and pray it makes a difference. Thank you and everyone again for all your extra love and prayers. My love and prayers always, you know that, to all of you!

Good evening thread save! Extra praise and thankful to God that a cool towel helped my feet! I will do that a few times tomorrow! Also, so thankful to have heard from Dr. E. We had a nice phone conversation. I appreciate his kind care and truly trying to make this work well for me both TMJ wise and of course whatever he would do. Dr. A (Dr. E has tried calling Dr. and has yet to get a phone reply) so Dr. E. emailed him this afternoon when I gave him Dr. A's email address. We agreed that I will keep my regular cleaning on October 11th. at that time, he will be able to take a quick current Xray and look at my 🦷 He did say, absolutely believes it will be fine until then so that was good to hear, of course. 🙏extra feet and tooth sure are appreciated as are forever each of dear you. sweet dreams, friends with love.

Good morning. I skimmed everything I missed while away. Thoughts and prayers for all.

The trip was very much a mixture of emotions and experiences. The plane was fine and thankfully both flights to and from were on time and easy. The car service was waiting for me and was really good. I got to the resort earlier than I thought I would. Sunday I walked 8 and a half miles. Mon, Tues, and Wed I walked between 11 and 12 miles. I was shocked at that but I would just get out and walk around the resort, the parks, and Boardwalk area. The kids were impressed. LOL!

The good:
I found that I liked Studios more than I usually do. I took the boat over and the skyliner back. This is why I like the Boardwalk area. Studios was quiet the day I went. I was able to get on Minnie and Mickey ride with only a 20 minute wait. I saw the Beauty and the Beast show which was excellent. Loved it. I also saw Walt Disney, One Man's Dream movie. That was very interesting. While waiting in line for popcorn, Chip and Dale were picnicing in the grassy area. Dale came over and waved to me. I got a picture. Magic Kingdom was also a nice place to be. It wasn't very busy the day I went as there was a party that evening so it closed at 6. Many people avoid MK on those days. I got on Jungle Cruise. Tiki Birds, Peoplemover (I call it Wedway the old name), the train, and Small World. I really didn't think I would be able to do these rides but for some reason I was drawn to them and just went with it. I got my mickey bar and sat and enjoyed that. I went to get the bus and from a distance I could see the bus sitting there. I figured it would be gone by the time I got there as no one else was heading to the buses. Not only did it stay but when I got on I could see it was mostly full with only a couple of seats left. Once I got on the driver closed the door and left. Jeff says that Chris held the bus for me. I had a reservation at La Creperie in France. The server I had was the kindest, sweetest young lady. She made eating by myself not so bad. She explained everything on the menu, asked if I wanted to move to a booth and be more comfortable, stopped by to talk a little, and brought me a dish of caramel ice cream as she said, this is a gift from me. She made my day.

The Ugly:
Epcot was pretty ugly after 3 in the afternoon. Crowds were roaming the World Showcase and the booths were hard to get to. Sunday was especially bad as the locals go. I was able to get a grey goose slushy one day. On Wed I was at Epcot early and that made a big difference. I did Ratatouille and Soarin. I got the front row in Soarin which I like. I got the cheddar soup and pretzel roll at Canada, some creme brulee at France, and sangria in Italy. I took a break at the resort as it was so hot. I went back around 2 and the crowds were picking up. We got some bad storms around 5:30 but I was back at the resort and so happy I was. My breakfast at Ale and Compass was ugly. I was seated in a row of 2 tops in which every other table was occupied by a married couple of my age. That was depressing. The server was adequate but just not that good. I saw him to order and to pay. The dark chocolate waffles were good so I ate and left.

The bad:
The emotions were definitely raw and at the surface. I would eat breakfast usually in the solarium and then go back to the room and have a meltdown. Seeing couples of my age or older was very difficult. My therapist says I have no idea what their stories are and maybe they are couples who are now together after loss but my answer is, at least they have someone in their lives. I had times when I had to stop and go cry in the ladies room. I did find that at Studios and MK it was a bit easier for me than Epcot. Maybe because I felt close to Chris in those parks. If I ever do this again, I will spend more time in parks other than Epcot. Beach Club is a nice resort. Their quick service options are limited. It is mostly grab and go with 4 to order items at each meal. Nothing really good in my opinion. I usually went to Boardwalk Deli, the pizza window at Boardwalk, or grabbed snacks in the parks. My room was clean but definitely needs a refurb. I felt like people were looking at me because I was alone. I know no one cared that I was alone but that is the way I felt.

I am glad I gave this a try as I would always wonder. Ideally if I go back I would like to go with someone or with family. Unfortunately my friends are not Disney people and family won't go back for a few more years. I am not sure if I can travel by myself again especially places other than Disney. Travel was something I loved to do and I feel that now it may be in the past. Now that I am back to reality that brings me a whole new set of emotions. The condo looms so large in my life I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the move. One day at a time.

If you stayed with this thank you. It helps to write it out.

Have a good day.

Happy Friday!🍁

Supposed to be 85 today, summer just wants to hang around.:sunny:

Headed to the Reds game tonight with Evan and Mia ⚾. I got tickets from work and asked so many people if they wanted to go but nobody was able to. I gave the tickets to Evan thinking they'll take another couple but Bailey is working so Evan was just going to go. I said hold on, you have 4 tickets, I'm taking one of those. This is they're last home game series, hopefully they'll clinch a spot in the playoffs this weekend.:cheer2:

Snowysmom - glad you went on your vacation and enjoyed yourself (somewhat) 🏰. I'm sure that was one of the hardest things you've done lately. I think going somewhere like Disney by yourself can get lonely for anyone but when you have memories from there, that makes it a little harder. I'm very nervous of taking a trip to Disney by myself but I wouldn't think twice of taking a vacation to the beach by myself.🏖️

Got my haircut last night ✂️. She ended up cutting about 1 1/2-2 inches off the back. My hair has gotten very damaged this year and I couldn't take it anymore. I knew the best thing for my hair was to get all the dead parts cut off. She did tell me to start using leave-in conditioner since I don't use a heat protecter on my hair before styling it. I bought a bottle last night so we'll try over the weekend.

Jacob got back in town last night so he's picking up Piper today 🐱. I told him that we needed a break from her, she's becoming very comfortable at my house and around my animals and she's starting to be mean towards them 😡. He is making an appointment to get her declawed (front only), which is the last resort he wanted to take but he can't risk her scratching G's eye. That could cause severe damage and he can't afford eye surgery for a dog.💰

That's about it. Everyone have a great day and weekend.

Good morning. Once again we went down to 48, but going to 74 today. Calling for rain tonight and tomorrow, when they're predicting a high of 60. Don will be telling me to turn the heat on, and I will be refusing. It's way too early!

@Snowysmom Even though your trip was hard at some points, you should be proud of yourself for going. One more step in showing you can do things you thought you'd never be able to do again. It sounds like you had a good time, for the most part. At least you know you can do it.

I got all the yard work done yesterday, mowing, weedwacking, putting away some of the summer decorations. I talked to the guy next door about tearing the garden out next week. It's so sad looking I can't bear seeing it anymore. I'll go pick the last of the cherry tomato's today and then let the rest sit till he gets to it. The skins just start getting tough after the weather begins cooling down so much at night. I had to pick up a million black walnuts that fell off the tree. I put them in the hedges out back and the squirrels find them and take them away.

Off to find something to get into today while the weather is so nice. Maybe I'll wash the windows, they need it.

Have a great day

:grouphug:Snowysmom! I completely agree with Lynn! I'm truly glad you went and am proud of you, my friend! Small, kind, and fun moments make such a difference! I'm very grateful extra to God you had some of them on your trip. I do have to admit my poor feet that currently can barely walk a few steps, were very impressed at how many miles you walked. Good for you! :)

Have a great Friday, friends :)

Good morning everyone

Busy week as usual. Had the boys 3 days, Ella and her friends on Tuesday, visiting dad in the hospital. I also had a minor medical emergency with Mikey. He thought he hurt his boy parts. (Trying to stay DIS friendly). My daughter had work so I needed to handle it. Thankfully he forgot his medical card and we had to go back for it. There was a pretty bad accident on the turnpike that we could possibly been in based on the timing. We did get stuck in a massive traffic jam and by time it cleared he wasn't in pain. I took him to the pediatrician instead of the ER and thankfully it wasn't what we feared it could have been. Possibly just the start of a UTI. He is fine now thankfully.

Today I got my car inspected and an oil change. The windshield washer was repaired, and not as costly as I thought it would be and the good news was, I still didn't need brakes, so I was happy. I stopped at the bank on the way home and my wallet was missing. Thankfully Jim called the mechanic, and I dropped it there so all was good. I don't carry handbags, everything goes in my jeans or coat pockets, and I have done this before, thankfully I always find it.

Anthony saw the ortho yesterday and the good news is other than tweaking his knee he is fine. No sports for a month but that just means missing the end of Fall Ball. Thankfully he had that brace on as much as he dislikes it. I really hope he wears it for another year for the stability. It was the best birthday present he could have gotten. He turned 16 on Tuesday. He will be getting his license and use of the Jeep once he has the license. With 3 boys in 4 sports it will be helpful if he can drive himself at least to practices.

I kept up with the Voltaren and I have to say it really has helped after the initial couple of days. I'm sleeping through the night and not in as much pain when I wake up. The knee isn't as puffy as it was either, I still need to see a doctor at some point but I am glad I kept up with it.

We are supposed to get some nasty weather this weekend so I won't be doing much, but Monday is Lancaster with Ella and the other 2 stooges. I affectionately call her and her 2 best friends the 3 stooges. They all have off from school so she conned me into a trip., Of course with her it means breakfast, Shopping, ice cream and the food market on the way home. I don't mind as the 3 girls are so easy to deal with and it's nice to see the bond they all have, even with going to 3 different schools this year.

My trip to Disney is in 20 days, can you tell I'm excited, I need the rest. I realized that I do love the solo trips. It is so nice to be selfish for a week and only think of me. OK not entirely accurate because I do call Jim and make sure he has eaten. I already have 4 single serve pizza and a single serve stuffed pepper in the freezer for him. I'll also make him chili again as he does love that and will eat it. Because of dad being in the hospital, and probably being home by time I leave I started rethinking a few plans. Mom always drives me to the airport BUT with dad back home I don't think it's a good idea. He has been in the hospital for a month and sick for most of that time. He is getting PT but he is depressed and just wants to go home. He still has another week of IV antibiotics and more PT. He will still be weak when he gets home. If he were to fall or need something and mom wasn't there, I would never forgive myself if something happened to him. That left me two options: Uber (my nephew is an Uber driver) or drive and park at the airport. Uber is out after hearing what my nephew would charge with the family discount. Parking at the airport wouldn't cost that much more money. I have decided to park at the airport and hope for the best. In many ways I think it's the best option as the lot has a 24-hour shuttle. If my flight were to be delayed, I wouldn't be keeping my grandson up late when he needs to get up early in the morning for work. It will be a new experience but hopefully a good one.

Hope you all have a great day

I have decided to park at the airport and hope for the best

Taz - if it helps, I travel/fly alone a lot. I use The Parking Spot (use them at BWI, too) often out of PHL. They are easy to get to (near long term parking) and over covered, gated parking. They pick you up right at your car, and drop you off right at your car. If you go on their website, it's easy to use and pre-book.
Sometimes at PHL I use the short term parking, too - it's simple, and easy to access in well lit and populated area right at the airport - which is especially nice when leaving early or arriving late!
I've stayed at the hotel attached to PHL which included parking, which is also nice when you have a real early flight.
Hope that helps a bit...have a wonderful time at WDW.

Snowy - I think you did yourself a great favor by going and traveling on your own. I know it felt rough, but maybe the next time it will feel a little less rough.

My daughter mentioned the Short Term parking but as I am still having some issues with my knee she thought that might be a little hard on me with my luggage. I did price the Parking Spot since I get a AAA discount. I think that is what I am going to use as it is easy for me to get to from I-95. I do have a 7 AM flight but I live 5 minutes from I-95 and at 4:30 I should have no traffic to contend with on the drive down. Construction maybe, but we are so used to that now it doesn't bother me. I appreciate the info though as it's nice to hear from someone who has used them.

Wise words, dear Easyas  Snowy, I sure pray your next trip is even brighter. Easyas, prayers you have a restful weekend :)

I elevated and cooled my foot. It helped for a few minutes. I will do it again later. Not intending to ever complain. I am human, of course, and sure wish true relief were quicker. Blessing to have some :)

@flyingdumbo127 I hope you feet are feeling better.

Taz I hope your father is doing better and is able to go home soon. It seems like you have a good plan for parking at the airport for your Disney trip.

Good Morning. It is a dreary day with rain coming in from the tropical storm. Kenny and I are heading to the condo. Hopefully he will be putting up the TV and connecting it to cable. There are some other things to do too. I do not like having to ask for help but I can't do this stuff myself. Next weekend my furniture arrives. The moving company I use has been very busy in the past and for much of Sept. Now they are asking for referrals as it has slowed down alot for them. Another sign of the worsening economy and the high cost of housing and mortgage rates. I feel bad for the workers. I know I have to stop watching the news as it is so depressing. While at Disney I avoided any news and it was nice. I have made the mistake of seeing what I missed while away and I am so sorry I did. Instant anxiety boost.

Off for a walk before the rain comes in.

Have a good Saturday.

I have several upcoming Disney trips scheduled. Here's wishing that some of our trips intercept and we are able to have a 'meet up'. This goes for anyone who happens to visit at the same time. In the past I've met lots of people who traveled for the food and wine festival and have made lovely friends, if only for a brief time. Since many of these trips have been 'alone' for me, it was always nice to see someone however briefly, where we had a connection such as this thread.

My next trip is supposed to be over the Halloween timeframe. Yesterday morning, I canceled that part. Someone's BWV standard view waitlist probably came through, so someone is happy. I still have 2 nights left which I could combine with a few offsite nights, but I'm not certain I will go yet. My traveling companion for the first part fell through.

Then I have the first week of December in a Boardwalk View room. I also have some days in February (during first week) at Beach Club Villas.

Booked 4 nights during the granddaughters Easter week vacation. That was where the October nights went as I was able to get a club level room for 2 of the nights at Animal Kingdom Villas - will try for the other two to be club level also, and I have a savannah view booked, but that's probably just a dream. Also going earlier that week and arriving to stay in a Hyatt offsite. Those are free nights with breakfast so definitely help stretch the budget, as I will be footing part of the ticket bill for my grands.
This also makes for a trip where I'm not 'alone'. As I get older I want it both ways - time to myself and a peaceful villa, yet the fun of having the kids around. Part of the answer was moving from a studio to a one bedroom and having the lounge available to get away for a bit.

And, right now, I'm supposed to be in Ocean City, Maryland. Cancelled today mostly because I didn't want to drive in the rain. That said, I'm probably going to go tomorrow and deal with the rain. It should be clear but cloudy by the time I arrive. I now just have 2 nights, but depending on how I feel, I might go ahead and stay longer. We will see how it is Tuesday morning and what the forecast is for the ride back.

Meanwhile we have dribbles here and its not going to let up, just windy and rainy.

Hope all have a nice day, keep healthy and happy.

Good rainy Saturday. Happy first day of fall!
Temps will only go to 60 today and tomorrow with rain both days. Our niece and her husband and kids had a long planned weekend in Ocean City. They got there yesterday and it was so windy, and rainy, that they turned around and came back home. They were afraid that the Bay Bridge would get closed because of the winds and that they wouldn't be able to get home.

It's not windy here, just raining lightly on and off. It's a good weekend for me to stay in and get more cleaning in the cellar done. I closed all but 1 window here in the computer room, so Don doesn't complain about turning the heat on. Too late, he already said something, lol. I am making a pot of homemade beef stew for dinner. Nice cozy meal for a rainy day. He will be watching football anyhow.

@Judique I'm a bit upset with HP right now. The laptop I bought was a windows 10S. I purposely bought a windows 10, as I've heard too many horror stories about 11. I know it was S, because it showed 10 everywhere it was supposed to. I removed the S part so that I could download from other places than microsoft store.
Yesterday morning I turn on the laptop and it says updates are ready. No where did it tell me what the updates were. It finished, and all of a sudden my laptop was now Windows 11. Nothing would work right. I got on a chat, they took remote control of it to figure it out. 1 1/2 hours later, some things were back where they were, they updated the bios etc. Gave me a phone # to call to get it rolled back to Windows 10. After getting 4 reps and being disconnected 4 times, I finally got an English speaking person (no offense meant, most of the others are too hard to understand). They tell me I need HP Smart Friend to do it. Cost was $16.99 a month of $150 a year for 24/7 support. I did it for a month, just to get the laptop back to 10. The guy had me put in 32 gb flash drive, and downloaded all the files off the computer for 10, and then had me install them. Then it showed me it needed more updates. I looked and looked, but no where was there anything that said 11, so I let it put them all in. Not what I intended to have to do with a 5 day old laptop! Then there was a warranty issue. It has a 1 year warranty, but the computer's screen under system was telling me it expired in April of 2024. They had to go in and match my serial # to confirm it did have 1 year and they fixed in their system. I'm almost regretting buying this. Too many problems in the first few days :(

No plans for the day yet except cleaning.

I hope everyone stays safe if in the tropical storms path!

Okay, so, in keeping with my ability to follow a whim on a moment's notice, I was browsing through the DVC booking site and found a room available at Grand Floridian prior to my nights at Animal Kingdom.

I now have a split stay - Lagoon View at Grand Floridian and then on to Animal Kingdom Villas.
The Grand Floridian room is 'princess like' and the girls and my DD have never stayed there. It is also big, spacious and light and airy feeling. They will LOVE it! I stayed there last November and enjoyed it.

I have one night open between the two hotels and I may actually stay at the Hyatt that night. My car would be parked at VGF and it would be a relatively short drive over there if we spent the day at Magic Kingdom with the girls. A day with myself and a 7 and 8 years old is not opening to close. We would probably do 2 sessions with a break in between. Now I have to start looking at hours and other stuff. I already know I would want a waffle from Sleepy Hollow for breakfast, lol.

My DD is actually off the week before from her job. She will have Friday off and works from Home Wed and Thurs, so could actually fly out Tuesday night and meet us. She can WFH at Disney. I've let her know about the AKV part and she's onboard. Now I have to call or text and let her know I've rearranged her life a bit more, if she so desires to come earlier. My guess is it won't be any problem.

Aww, I'm sorry about your tech problems!
This is my HP, and what it costs now. I've not had any problems with windows 11, and had upgraded my other laptop to it previously. This is from Costco and I like the warranty with Costco as there is 90 days upfront to return with no questions asked.
