Quality or quantity

When the kids were younger, we chose quantity over quality. We didn't care as much about the accomodations - we just loved being at the Disney parks and wanted to stay as long as we could.

However, as we've all become older, we are more discriminating because we tend to enjoy doing more at the resort each day.

This is a cool thread !!

We usually do the quality thing. I love the resorts on the monorail even though we have only used them once. We do have an upcoming trip scheduled and we will be in the Contemporary again. We did AKL last time we went to WDW and it was great !!

We have never stayed at a mod, because we usually end up deciding it is not worth it when the deluxe it usually somewhat close in price.

One thing we consider too... If you decide to go cheaper on your resort and stay 3 days longer, will you end up spending more in the gift shops or on food ?? it is a strange balance...

I find that after 7 days, I am usually ready to come home. The people that are ALWAYS in the way start to get on my nerves a little faster and I start to grow tired of the constant hustle and bustle of a vacation. This is usually true no matter where I go. Plus I start to wonder if my store wil still be standing when I get back...

I must say..this is us with kids now. We loved the values with the kids but on our trip alone we're staying deluxe.

Definitely quantity!!! Values are fun!!! Not too fancy.... just lots of good ole FUN!!!

I agree. We never spend much time in the room. Having said that we do stay at deluxes too -- never at a moderate though.

I have to disagree. Deluxes are a good $150-$200 per nite higher. Now thats not much, but you add that difference up between 7-10 days, thats another WDW trip.

I've stayed at Moderates and Value and I like them all just as well - I don't think the room sizes are that much different. We are in the planning stages of our next trip now - we are planning on staying 8 nights at POR. I watched the new DVD with my ds6 and dd4 this am. We went through the moderate and value resorts and ds6 was not impressed by any of the moderates - although the pool at POFQ got his attention a bit and he did say he liked CBR - but I told him that's where dd23 and her friend just stayed in November. He was excited about the All Stars and POP (he has stayed at both before but he was a baby when we stayed at ASMo). If we stay at value we will have to have 2 rooms or a family suite at ASMu (which doesn't really interest me) since we are a family of 5. The only reason we're planning the moderate is so that we only need 1 room this time. We did have 2 rooms at the POP last trip.

We spend most of our time out of the room. We shower/dress and leave in the morning only to drop exhausted into the beds at night. We might occassionally come back for an afternoon swim but then again, we aren't in the room except for changing.

The only complaint that I had about the Value was how crowded the busses were at night. Sometimes we would have to stand and with three really tired children that was not fun!!!! I have heard that the POP has its own bus, which would limit the amount of people on it. We are considering staying there the next time we go in September 2008

Having stayed at the Mod we didn't have to share busses with other hotels, so the bus always had seats for everyone. I really don't think the rooms had much difference and if you are like my family all we did was sleep there. I would much rather have a longer vaca!!!!!

Having said that 10 days is an awefully long time. We have spent 8 days and 7 days and have had plenty of time to see every inch of each park except the water parks, but we are hitting them the next time we go.
