This posting goes out to the Podcast team and is in reference to an email I sent them a little ways back. In said email, I had expressed a growing concern of mine over the quality of the show. I listed many issues that I had with the show and how I didn't feel like I could listen to it anymore after years of listening. At the end of the email I had realized that it was the first time I had ever emailed the podcast team and that wasn't very fair. After years of joy and pleasure from the team I had never emailed them to say why I enjoyed the show. Only when my enjoyment had gone down did i feel it necessary to contact the team.
I'm not going to go into any details as to what issues I had with the show. Instead this posting is to express my extreme satisfaction with the most recent shows. I feel the shows have gotten better and the last show was particularly fantastic. And i'd like to mention why.
To begin with the topics/segments that are being brought up are the reason that made me first fall in love with the DIS. There seems to be a large focus on the fact that your podcast is geared to those who want to plan and get exciting about planning a trip to Disney. The latest episode had the wife and I longing for another trip. I'm really enjoying these segments and think that the whole team is doing a great job.
All the members seem to be going out of their way to bring in high quality segments. I'm loving Theresa's and Kathy's segments where they are seeing whats new in the parks, how the crowds are etc. It's something like live reporting so I can experience a little bit of the pulse of the parks without being there. The most recent episode Kevin and John went through (along with Kathy and Theresa) a bunch of the counter service restaurants. It was quite extensive for a single segment. And petes segment on the many options of off site stay was a whole other level and could easily have been split into 3 segments. And thats just a few that come to mind. The whole team is bringing in great segments.
These segments seem to be very well researched and demand quite a bit of your own personal time. Which I have no doubt is in short supply. Especially with all of the on site support your providing for the individual GKTW events. And with the effort that goes into making your one of a kind, individualized DIS meets. Not to mention that you all do have day jobs that require your attention. I'm extremely greatful for this free (for me, but expensive for you) form of entertainment that you are providing.
Further more every team member seems to be genuiningly interested with his or her own topic as well as the other members of the teams. Your team dynamic seems to be getting better and better. You all have differing opinions of which all are valid and apply to the vast and diverse audience that you hold. When one of the team goes off topic another will bring the team member back on track, but only after a little bit of off topic conversation ensues which is a part of the DIS charm.
So in short. Great job team. And thank you.
And a thank you is all you should need to be happy. As well as the satisfaction of a job well done....
In thinking of how to thank you i thought about giving you my business as I've never used dreams unlimited. Planning the trip is half the fun so using your agents is a no go. I also won't be traveling for a little while now (a new member of the family is on the way) so I'll have to wait to book a trip with one of your affiliated hotels. So in the mean time i'll just donate to GKTW as a thank you.
As an aside note about the recent podcast. Kevin (or John, I'm another who for some reason always mixes up who is who, sorry fellas) was reviewing the counter service restaurants. He was about to start with the studios and changed his mind. I was shouting that it was the best place to start since it would only be uphill from there. Which after listening I see was the reason he did not start there. When he did begin talking about the ABC Comissionary I thought oh boy here we go. I like many many others detest this counter service and avoid it. In fact only reason I went on my last trip was because the other locations were closed. I apparently have a poor memory because once Kevin (or John) started talking about the surf and turf burger I realized my error. ABC has such a stigma attached to it that I forgot that my last trip was quite pleasant, and for all the reasons that John (or Kevin) mentioned. That burger was reasonably priced, quite tasty, had that added alure of the shrimp, was very clean, uncrowded and my young daughter was able to nap because it was so quiet. And yep had its own bathroom too. It was a very positive experience but i supose not positive enough to make up for all the previous negative ones. I hope they keep this quality up so that it begins to build a better reputation. Next trip I go on i'm going to make sure I do a review on each restaurant.
So again. Thank you team.
