Quality of Fiestaware

This is what I wanted to know, my pfaltzgraf stoneware just shows up with cracks inside the glaze you can still use the plate or bowl but every time you set it on the counter you can here the hollow sound the crack makes. Yesterday I broke a soup crock while washing it because the handle hit the side of the sink.

I didn't know what the Fishs Eddy brand was so I google it and its very cute but I don't know where to buy it do stores carry it I like to touch it and see it before I make big purchases online.

Still leaning towards the Fiestaware because its easy to find and they have so many accessories. I think I would start with the 4 piece place setting I'm a big coffee drinker and I like the mug instead of the cup and saucer. What do you Fiesta lovers think?

I got Fiestaware for Christmas this year. I had debated for 2 years on what kind of dishes I wanted. I went with Fiesta because it was easy to find so if my kids or I broke apiece I could easily replace it. It was a nice weight compared to most dishes. The rims didn't feel flimsy or like they were going to chip. It also didn't lock me into just one color palate so I could change with the seasons or my mood. It's also made in the USA.

I went with the 4 piece place setting as well. I'm not a coffee drinker but I knew I'd never use the saucer so I went with the bigger cup. It's not huge by any means but it's a nice size for cocoa. My mom came for Christmas and she had no complaints about the size of the mug and she is a coffee drinker.

I was more worried about the size of the bowl. I generally like a deeper bowl but these hold a nice amount of cereal. I was surprised actually. They look shallow but have a larger circumference so they hold a lot more than I thought they would. I may eventually get the gusto bowls for chili and soup but I have a set that my stepmom gave me so we just use those now.

I have been really pleased so far. We did break a piece already but that is because I have ceramic tile everywhere.

I grew up using Fiestaware 40+ years ago.
I have had my own set for over 15 years and use it exclusively. I love it!
One, it reminds me of my childhood and I love that. Two, all the colors just make me happy. I just buy whatever color I like- don't try to follow any "theme".
I buy all my Fiestaware at an outlet type place where my MiL lives. Big warehouse you have to just dig through but I have gotten the neatest holiday patterns, glasses and pieces that I have never seen in a store.
Only mishap is when my DH accidentally turned on the wrong burner and torched it- it broke then but I to nice big clean pieces, thankfully.

I love mine! The colors I have are: Turquoise, Marigold, and Tangerine.

What about the silverware marks on top of plates, does it leave them?

Yes, we have them. Unlike the experiences of others, we have them mainly on the Sunflower yellow color, not as much on the Tangerine orange we have. I only have one purple piece (a vendor gave me a bowl in it during a wedding registry event) but I never use it, so it's pristine.

We have also broken some pieces, like a bowl or two and a small plate or two.

So they aren't indestructible, but they sure are pretty!

i really want to get red, but I don't want my kitchen to look like McDonalds....

Which bowls do you use for spaghetti?

We don't use spaghetti bowls - just use the regular size plates - like our sauces a little thick. As for the mugs/cups - I have only the mugs, but seldom use them as I like larger (usually some type Disney) that I drink my coffee from. Don't usually drink it with my meals, so they don't get used a whole lot. For breakfast, if we have overnight guests, I will then put them out. To me the cups and saucers are a waste - too small and the cup/saucer would never be used, so do not have any of those. I do love the looks of the table with all the pretty place settings in different colors though - just brightens my day :goodvibes To the PP, I have red, as well as cinnabar, plus the other colors to round out my 8 place settings - also have plates and cereal bowls in other colors as extras because I like too many colors :-) The reds don't stand out as looking like McDonalds to me, just make for a bright table - maybe if all you used were reds would look different - don't know!

I use 8 different colors. If you can find a deal on the 4 piece set get that because you will never use the coffee cups &saucers. I have the 5 piece sets because I bought them on sale for $20 each, otherwise I'd have gone with the 4 piece sets. I do pick up the deeper bowls when I find a sale.

I have some pieces from my DH's grandma that are from the 40s and they are still in amazing shape. I don't use them though because of the lead content.

My first set of dishes were fiesta ware. They didn't last long. When I decided to get a complete set I went for Denby. I had a friend who had inherited a set that had been passed from her grandmother to mother and then to her. They really are great dishes that are oven safe, dishwasher safe. I love my deny and love knowing I will have them for years to come.

I have never heard of this before. Was it because you broke them, or they were defective? They do not break easily - I can attest to that, as others, but they will shatter on tile floors or granite counters if dropped. After all, they are make of breakable material, but have known a lot of people with kids, and several have posted here to their durability, so was just wondering. :confused3

I love our Fiestaware! We have the scarlet and turquoise sets...we only have had our sets a couple of years, but so far so good (with the exception of one turquoise plate that inexplicably cracked after using it in the microwave, so I don't do that anymore). All the other pieces have been through several weekly dishwasher runs and have been fine.

I can't wait to add the tangerine and sunflower yellow sets to our collection!

Watch Macys.com for sales and google for discount codes to add on top of that, and you can get some really good deals. That's what the person did who bought DD's set. Also, that's what I did when I bought her set of Calphalon cookware (and very nice set at an incredible price plus the Calphalon free gift for purchasing x amount). :thumbsup2

Oh for me it's just the fact that we have the yellow. The combo to me screams McDonalds, it bothers me even in the store. If I got rid of the yellow (and that's not going to happen) I'd pick up some red, because I'd love it with my orange.

I have the scarlet, ivory, and black. Looking to add 2 more place settings in chocolate. I also have some serving pieces in all four colors. I haven't had any problem with scratches showing up on the black. I'm going to check out some other colors as well.

I also prefer the 4-piece place setting. We don't have a lot of cabinet space, and we never use cups with saucers, so that would have just taken up space that we can't afford.

DH and I are really hard on our stuff - I think we're both a bit naturally distracted and klutzy. We bang the dishes against each other (I mean we BANG them against each other, not on purpose, we just let go too quickly when putting them down), I've literally dropped them into the sink or in the microwave - not a chip or crack. Yet

Love mine. I have all the colors. My favorite is the gusto bowls. They are perfect for gumbo. We use them daily.

I live right by where they make it. They have seconds(with very minor flaws) so all of our are seconds. We actually use the small oval platter as our dinner plates. They have a tent sale twice a year where people from all over the USA come to. The second are 1/2 price thruout the year and then during those two weekends they are cut by another 1/2 off!!! My uncle is actually head of security!! Only color I noticed knife marks is the cobalt blue.

ALL of mine has some slight scuff marks, but especially the darker colored ones, but it doesn't bother me, they're not THAT noticeable and I love them anyway :goodvibes

We love our Fiesta ware! I have one plate and a few bowls of our oringinal Pfaltzgraff set left and they all are cracked. We have some other plates we bought at Wegmans that all have chips too. The Feista ware ones are all fine. The dark ones do show the marks. We do not use place settings to we just have an assortment of dinner plates. Colors-red, dark blue, purple, yellow, orange, and green. If I remember right I only paid about $3 a piece years ago at Linens and Things. Now they are a lot more! We want go get more plates.

I dropped in a very nice Goodwill here a few weeks ago and happened to find 10 assorted color large plates for .99 ea. They had just put them out - I was so excited. I have 8 assorted place sets, plus extra colors bowls and dessert plates, but I love all the colors I had never seen before with these extra plates.I use them as extras and when we don't need complete place settings.

Where exactly in West Virginia is this? And when is the next sale? I'm in Richmond and would love a chance to hit that sale!
