I was at our local Disney Store the other day and was shocked at the poor quality of the beach towels! They were so thin and cheap. I'm wondering if this is the same quality as those at WDW? I bought one back in 2007 and everyone loves it and wanted to get more on our upcoming trip. Thanks for an help!:thumbsup2

The ones I got at the Disney store this year were definately worse quality than what we got at WDW last year, but I havn't bought any from there this year (or been yet :( ).

Mine from the disney store this year looked a little more substanial than your average walmart beach towel but lost so much threading when they were washed it was just pitiful and they get black and gray lent (got the mickey one) all over whoever is drying off with it. If we were closer to a Disney store I'd take them back but it's at least a 2 hour trip for me.

The beach towel I bought in Disney this past December is of excellent quality, very durable and not thin at all.

It's funny that the OP said that about the towels at the Disney Stores because I have only heard compliments over their quality. I've had guests tell me how much better they are than the ones that are for sale at Walmart.

Granted, the towels at WDW maybe thicker, but they will be more expensive than the towels at the stores.

I always found the quality of merchandise in the Disney stores to be lower than what you find in the parks & resorts.

We bought beach towels at Castaway Cay a few years ago and they are very nice, IMO - but they were expensive.

I got a towel at Caribbean beach a few years back and its still in awesome condition. I used it all the time. Best part is it was the last one and it was on a display....the guy got it down and told me it was a little dusty, so he sold it to me for $7!!! :woohoo: All the other towels I see in the World are way more money.

Also, my boyfriend recently found a towel while cleaning out :laundy: his grandmothers house....it says EPCOT Center with the old logos.....the tag on it said copyright 1982. She never even used it so its of good quality still. I was super excited about it!

I recently bought two from the Disney Store online and was also VERY disappointed with the quality. They are thin, cheap looking and are losing color after only a couple washes. I was hoping to take them with us in Sept. but it looks like they won't last the summer.

How much are the beach towels in WDW? I wasn't impressed with thrones in the store.

I have a couple from the Disney Store, they are definitely on the flimsy side -- but they are not losing color or anything.

That said, the Hollywood Tower Hotel towels (bath towels, not beach towels) I got at the ToT store years and years ago have held up well and while they are not super soft they have a good heft to them and are good at absorbing water.

The ones that I purchased from the parks were made EXTREMELY well and after years and years of washing and use I often find myself thinking, "Dang, we have had these towels FOREVER!".

They weren't cheap but we have definitely gotten our $ worth.

The WDW towels are awesome. My sister got one last summer (2010) and it is in great shape.

We haven't bought towels at WDW since 12/2009 but the ones we got on that trip are still very nice, soft, and absorbent and haven't faded despite rather heavy use.

Can someone please fill us in on the average price of the beach towels in the WDW gift shops? This is on our souvenir list, primarily because I have been told that they don't give out towels by the pool and I don't want to use the hotel room bath towels. We are planning on packing a few beach towels in our suitcases and then buying a couple from the gift shop. Thanks :thumbsup2

I have two that I got from WDW in a spend x dollars promotion and they are EXCELLENT! VERY plush and thick and great quality.

We got towels at WDW for our daughters back in 1999. I am amazed at how nice they continue to be. The colors are still vibrant. Much nicer than the bath towels that I have purchased over the years. I remember them being $20 a piece when we bought them 12 years ago.

Where are you staying? I was told that I could towels at the pool, but we are staying at BC...

The towels in WDW are 20$ and very worth it! Every trip everyone buys 1 towel and they last forever! The ones from my 2001 trip still look great! They have so many designs all over the parks and lots at DTD.

Everyone should be aware that the quality at WDW is far superior to that at your local Disney store. For one, the prices at WDW are much higher, so you should be getting something better. Check the tags on any of the apparel or things like beach towels at WDW and at the Disney store in your local mall, they are different.

Seven years ago at HS on a chilly October night before F!, we HAD to buy one because it was that chilly and DD was only 1 and we used it as a blanket. Well seven years later it still looks new. COlors as bright as can be and very plush. I remember being annoyed that it was 20 bucks at the time but it has really stood the test of time and use.

I dont think the Dis store towels are even close in quality.
