We're leaving in less than a month and I'm still kind of struggling with whether or not to add the QSDP to our package. It's just me and my wife on the trip. I've read all the info on adding up what you "would" eat based on menu prices on allears, but I'm still don't really have a clear picture.

Here's the scoop...

- May 5 - 12, POFQ
- 2 TS scheduled (5/5 at Nine Dragons, 5/7 late Boma breakfast) I know these will be OOP

We arrive on 5/5 and will go straight to Epcot for our Nine Dragons meal, so I know that basically on that day we'd be getting a full day's worth of CS and snacks and am pretty sure we won't be able to use them all that day and would just apply them to the rest of our trip.

I guess I'm looking for opinions on what you would do. I go back and forth on it and have done a lot of research, but still wondering. Never done any dining plan at all so it would all be new to me.

Thanks for any feedback :)

First of all, remember that the dining plan credits are allocated per night of your stay, not per day.

So for a 8 day/7 night trip, you'd have 14 CS credits to use -- you're not using any on your arrival day, but you can still average 2 per day from then on. The key word is "average", as all of your credits are awarded at check-in, and may be used at any time, in any order, until midnight of the day that you check out.

We love the Dining Plan... I suggest you do it! If its just the 2 of you, I would even consider the Table service plan its only 9.00 more a day a person and you will get your money's worth and look at all the great places you can eat! That is just my 2 cents! :)

We are trying the quick service this time around and we are looking foward to it. We would go with the Table service plan but with the 7 of us the difference adds up quite quickly, although we love the plan and have done it many times.

By the way we are also in Texas!

:)

I'm going to try the QSDP for my solo trip in June. I've never done any dining plans before because we usually only have one or two TS meals per trip. I have looked at dining reviews and pictures and chosen the three meals that appeal to me this trip and will pay for those OOP. I did add up what I would normally eat, and the plan came out about equal for me. I would buy the mug anyway, so that is basically free on the plan, plus all the extras I wouldn't buy like drinks and desserts. One nice thing for those of us at POFQ is that we are just a boat ride away from nice dining at DTD! The CS meals there look very yummy.

Sorry I don't have a great reason; guess I just wanted to try it for convenience sake this trip and to have the food prepaid. Hope my reasoning helps a little bit.

Everyone's input helps A LOT, so thank you :)

Still chewing on it (no pun intended), and will need to make a decision soon!

P.S. - a big 'Howdy!' to MOM POPPINS! :wave2:

We are also using the dining plan and I'm confused. This is our first trip in Sept and I spent all day today trying to figure and plan the meals. When you say, " 2 TS scheduled (5/5 at Nine Dragons, 5/7 late Boma breakfast) I know these will be OOP". why would Nine Dragons be OOP when it is on the plan and you can use this as a TS, right? Someone pls explain this to me as I am now totally confused. Tks.

Because the OP is considering the QS DDP - which allows for 2 CS meals, 2 snacks and one refillable mug each day [based on nights of stay]. You are thinking of the regular DDP which allows for 1 TS meal, 1 CS meal and 1 snack each day. Does that help???

Edited to add: Looks like one refillable mug a day - I mean for the stay. LOL

We used the QSDP in Feb and loved it...it was the perfect solution for *our* family. We also paid for 2 OOP TS meals. As was stated...the meal credits are based on NIGHTS...not days...so unless you are leaving really early on your last day then you have to consider that. We used the "extra" CS credits to have a hot breaksfast a couple days...we also used a chunk of the snack credits for breakfasts on other days as well. For us....the QSdp was great because we did not have the pressure of planning our days around ADRs that we *HAD* to get to...it affords you a lot more "park" time because your not running to ADRs. You also have to remember to calculate tips into the regular DDP mix now...those arn't included...for a family of 4 you can pretty much be certain that that is going to be around $20 per ADR meal. That adds up quickly over the course of a week.
