q's @ renting dvc point benifits?

i'm renting points for the bwv for march'04 and have never done so before.I've heard about the perks you recieve because your treated like a dvc member. but what are they if any???thanks Deb.

You should receive a pocket guide at check-in that lists current benefits. They aren't particularly substantial--some dining and recreation discounts.

There are no shopping discounts and the only ticket discount is 10% off of the length of stay pass, which must be purchased at check-in (which means you lose any advance purchase discounts). You can also get a couple dollars off single-day admission to Pleasure Island, DQ and the water parks.

I hate to quote the entire list here because they are subject to change at any time.

i thank you deeply for your help but i didn't word my question correctly. i am not a member of dvc but am renting points from a member. and so my question is do i get any perks i asked a cm and she got a very hatefull tone with me. so i just ended the conversation so she could pull herself back together before her next call. i guess we all have a bad day

As a non-member, and not a guest of one either, you are not supposed to receive any of the DVC member benefits(maybe this is why the CM sounded "hateful"). Yet, many renters have reported being able to receive the DVC member discounts by just showing their room id with DVC MEMBER printed on it.

As jel0511 said, the member benefits are intended for members only. If you called DVC Member Services, said that you were renting points and asked what benefits you would receive, the CM was probably correct to end the phone call. Obviously the call should have been ended in a polite manner, but it should have ended nonetheless.

If you spoke to someone at CRO, then I doubt they had any idea what you were talking about.

Your room key will state "DVC Member" by virtue of the fact that the reservation was made through DVC. This may be adequate to get many of the discounts. Presenting the room key at a restaurant with a dining discount may be sufficient to get the DVC discount.

But DVC also issues member ID cards, which you obviously would not be able to present if asked.

Personally, I wouldn't walk around telling people that you are "renting" points as that often carries a somewhat negative connotation. If you ask a question by beginning with a statement that you are renting, you're that much more likely to have someone tell you that you are not eligible.

Personally, I wouldn't count on getting any of the discounts, and consider it a nice side benefit if a discount is granted.

There are two answers. The technical answer is you won't get them. If you have to have an answer up front, that is the one to go with. In reality DVC will likely extend the offer to you without even knowing (or caring) you are a renter. So in reality you will likely get all offers that would apply. The ones you wouldn't get really don't apply anyway (member cash room discount).
