We are considering the Quick service dining plan. Each lunch/dinner meal includes a drink and dessert. What choices are offered for desserts? Or do we even get a choice? If we do not want the dessert, can we exchange the dessert for a snack credit to use later? We are trying to decide if it is worth using the dining plan or pay as we go. Thanks for your help!

Most QS desserts are some kind of prepackaged cake or pudding type dessert. Some are good; some are not.

You can exchange your dessert entitlement for a snack AT THAT restaurant AT THE SAME TIME. You cannot use it later.

You can also exchange your dessert for a side instead of a snack. Not all quick service locations offer sides though so look at the menus carefully. Typical sides might include fries or onion rings as an example.

You cannot exchange it for a SIDE. You can only exchange it for a SNACK; an item with the purple logo next to it.

We've done it with sides. Yes, the purple logo was next to it, but I don't really consider items like soup or fries to be considered a snack. Maybe they are.

I can't voucher for the accuracy, but accord to Touring Plans:

"Guests who do not want a dessert will now have the ability to substitute that dessert choice for either a side salad, a cup of soup, or a fruit plate. Do keep in mind that this is only available upon request and substitutions may be limited. Guests will not be able to select an appetizer option instead."

The quote you posted refers to Table Service restaurants, but the OP is asking about substitutions on the QS plan which are quite different. When using a QS credit you can sub the dessert or beverage entitlement for any item on that menu that has the purple dining plan logo next to it. The substitute item has to be chosen at the same time the QS credit is used. It cannot be saved for a different location or a different venue.

For Table Service restaurants The 2016 Dining Plan brochure states that if a TS restaurant wishes, it can offer a substitution for the dessert component. If the restaurant does, it will be something of the restaurant's choosing - most often it has been a side salad, a cup of soup or a veggie dish. It will not be something from the appetizer or starter section of the menu. A fruit dessert is also often available for a person who would like a dessert, but not a sweet.
