Someone has told me adding a QR code to a resume might be something to make me stand out from the crowd. I'm a teacher & the schools here use them all the time.

I can't figure out what on earth I would have it linked to though. Any ideas?

not quite sure I know what QR Code is, even after I looked it up :crazy2:

Its a way to put something like a website url on something that someone can scan. I created one that links to your profile page. Something like google goggles can read it.

Op unless you have something important to link to I think you dont need to add one .

Do you have a LinkedIn profile? Link to that or set up a personal website with resume and examples of work, videos of you teaching a lesson, etc.

Yes this sounds good, op just make sure you dont have anything that isnt professional. No need to stand out by beingbthe one sending them to a page of your cat videos.:sad2:

Teachers are being told to do this where I live too. My sister is a elementary ed major and it basically shows that you are capable of creating one and using technology at least at a basic level. QR codes can be read by most cell phones through an app. These codes are scanned similar to a barcode and it links to a website of some sort. Teachers often use them for games as you may know. For a resume you could link it to your website if you have one or the website of a former job or a site with an award you have received or a link that goes to an example of a powerpoint or something you have done or maybe even a prezi or something. Hope that helps.

Why not link it to your profile on the DIS so potential employers can get a better idea of the "candid" you? :rotfl2: As a hiring manager, I would NEVER bother to follow such a link and would find it a bit pretentious but times are a'changin. If it's trending in your industry you'd likely better figure out some relevant way to incorporate the technology into your applications.

Also if you give them say a link to a really great youtube video on your personal account be sure you don't have any other videos that you may not want them to see. Don't give them a reason not to hire you.

My son's friend asked a girl to a dance with a QR code. I thought that was original.

I wouldn't do it for a resume, but not techie's might be impressed, I guess.

Love that idea!

Well I'm in a school system that is all technology. Kids get laptops in 3rd grade here & k-2 have iPads ---so principals would like to know I have an inkling about technology.
