Q about character meal vouchers

Hi All :thumbsup2

I just had a couple of questions about pre-buying character meal vouchers. I am thinking of getting some from ARES. The ones I want are Ariels breakfast and Minnie's breakfast. I notice on the ARES site it says Minnie's breakfast when you buy the voucher but someone one DIS said that you can use the breakfast vouchers at any of the breakfasts. Is that true, and has anybody actually done it? I just don't want to get to Ariels and be told that it is not valid to use there. I wanted to email ARES and ask them but for the life of me I can't find an email address anywhere on their website, only has phone numbers :confused3

Secondly, do I just have to print them off and just hand them over when it comes time for payment? I am guessing that I still need to make PS for the meals though.

Thanks in advance :woohoo:

I have been told they are good for any breakfast, but haven't used them yet. I guess I should call before I buy for Goofy's Kitchen!

As far as printing the vouchers...I've been told you have to exchange them in the park at the ticket booth or guest services.

We've not used the vouchers before, but I just wanted to mention that they seem to be cheaper through getawaytoday.

I'll be curious to see what answer you finally get since we plan to do vouchers when we travel in March.

I just checked Getaway (very quickly) and didn't see vouchers for character meals....is that something you can only get if you buy the entire vacation package through them?

*We used Getawaytoday in November for our vouchers. They were cheaper and included tax and tip. You can use the breakfast voucher for any of the breakfasts.
* Still make PS as they have nothing to do with your vouchers.
* You will pay fro them when you order the vouchers
* Order them all at one time because there is a service fee for each transaction
* The folks on the phone can help you with the service fee if there are any discounts right now. Just tell them you wanted to talk to a person to avoid issues
* Tell them when you are going. Not because the vouchers expire, but because you get the vouchers printes at guest services at the park or any Disney hotel. If you buy them online way in advance they assume you are using them within the next few days. The CM has to adjust things and call GAT if the vouchers expired in the system. We purchased our vouchers a few months in advance to prepay and did it during several transactions. When we got to the GCH for them to print the vouchers only half showed up. While DH and DD waited in line for opening, I went to Guest Services and they worked it out. It took about 15 minutes to straighten out. The CM said it happens sometimes as it is a computer glitch

We loved the ease of the vouchers and even with the glitch, they worked great!

ARES were cheaper for me, even with the "convenience fee". If you only need a couple, then getawaytoday is probably cheaper. But with 3 adults and 2 kids for 2 meals, ARES was cheaper for me.

When you go to getawaytoday select tickets and then select dining on the pull down menu at the top.

However I found ARES to be cheaper, even with the ticket fee.

The breakfast coupons at ARES are $30/$16 and at GAT they are $32.29/$18.17

Even with just a couple of people ARES was cheaper. I plan on doing Ariel's, Goofy's and Minnie's while there with DD8.

ARES =$156 (including the convenience fee) and Getaway = $164 even after I took their $10 insurance off.

I was probably the one who made the post saying you can use the Ares Breakfast vouchers at any character breakfast. On the Ares site it's called "Disneyland® Resort - Character Breakfast Buffet" (GAT calls it "Disney's Character Breakfast") and the picture shows Lilo & Stitch ~ they're definitely not at Minnie's. It would be good to hear from someone who's used them for sure ~ but I've been told by both Ares & Disney that they'd work fine for any breakfast.

Ares would be less for me ~ purchasing 2 A & 4 K breakfast vouchers.
