PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

FWIW the better kitchenette would have made the tower studio a better choice for my family if we were still a family of 4.

As a family of 5 now though, forget it.
Obviously everyone's opinion is there but for me it would be hard not to disturb someone while getting something out of the fridge or making coffee or using the microwave when the Murphy bed is pulled down.

There was no sharing as to their preference until the third time they posted because they weren't happy with the responses that didn't directly respond to the point they were trying to make in their first post (which, instead of just outright saying "we prefer the longhouses because it's bigger and has an extra shower" they chose to just allude to). Then when some possible reasons one might prefer the towers, they focus on whether "double bathroom" should mean just an extra shower or something more. To me, it feels like berating the point.
I don't stay at the Poly at all, I have no dog in this fight.

My curiosity is in Disney's thought process when coming up with the points charts.

I haven't berated anyone. I asked a sincere question.

Every decision has pros and cons. I listed several ways in which the existing studios are quantifiably better than the new studios. They're larger, more showers, closer to the TTC, and sleep 5. Those are objective, measurable facts, not differences in opinion.

So if those things are in the "pro" column for the existing studios, what are the "cons" that I'm missing that would cause someone to prefer the tower? Asking that question isn't berating anyone who likes the tower, I'm literally asking about their thought process because I'm interested in it.
Agree with you. Most are going to prefer the longhouse studios. Same reasons the original deluxe studios are the first to get booked up at VGF over the new resort studios.

The inventory is completely flipped though and they are not apples to apples as the resort studios have 2 queens. The PVB & PIT are much more alike but I agree I would rather have the extra shower at VGF and PVB/PIT

Yeah, I really like that seating area though.

In any case it’s a moo point for us.

There wasnt a thought process, they made the tower studios match longhouses, took those numbers multiplied by 2 to get 1br, and then went from there.

The reason the tower 1br etc is so expensive is the base starting point was already expensive (longhouse studios are the most expensive studios at wdw)

Tower v longhouse, some will prefer the former due to amenities being in the same building and also the ease to walk to VGF and maybe even on to MK. That’s the beauty of DVC and all the locations, we all have our different requirements and preferences, no right or wrong.

My DH and I are definitely more interested in the new Tower. We don't have kids, are retired, and only do one or two night stays because we have relocated to Florida and live close to Disney. The second sink in the longhouses is nice (don't need a second shower) but we would MUCH rather have a second toilet.

During a recent stay at Poly in PagoPago we realized that the longhouses aren't for us. We just don't like to have to walk outside to get to the amenities - especially when it's raining. There's something comforting for us about staying inside when we go to grab breakfast in the morning. Bay Lake is our favorite and even though we have to walk "outside" to get to Contempo Cafe, it's a covered bridge which makes it better for us. We love Jambo too.

We have a cash trip booked for a Deluxe studio in January at the Tower. If we enjoy it we might add-on 25 Poly points but we probably won't stay at a Poly longhouse again unless there's absolutely nothing else available and we need to stay a certain date. (Added: We love Bay Lake also because we walk to MK. The Poly Tower is still further but being able to walk to MK from there is a bonus. No GF for us because the points are too high and my DH doesn't like the "grandma" decor)

Except that in this case, 75% of the studios are the so-called more desirable longhouse rooms, while the opposite is true at Grand Floridian. I think it's very unlikely that the 360 longhouse studios fill up while IT studios remain vacant.

I think this is much ado about nothing. When it's just my wife and I traveling, we'd be plenty comfortable in Island Tower. There are many couples and even solo travelers who are DVC owners. Simply avoiding the isolated nature of the longhouses is a huge perk for some. Don't have to leave the building for dining, bar, fitness center, beverage mug refills, pool is just an elevator ride away, close proximity to Grand Floridian vs DVC longhouses on the far opposite side of Poly. Even the Great Ceremonial House appears to be a closer (outdoor) walk than from Moorea and Pago Pago.

Sure but if we know anything, it's that DVC demand (and WDW cash demand) moves on location and perceived convenience more than theme or newness or anything else. So the monorail resort with the largest square footage probably *should* have the most expensive studios at WDW. That feels appropriate to me. The tower loses the largest square footage element and also significantly dampens the monorail convenience factor.

I haven't been paying close attention to the development, but since I've seen a few people mention "amenities," what amenities are going to be in the tower? With they have their own QSR? Feature pool? Splash pad?

Is the expectation that people staying in the Tower are going to have a self-contained experience like Kidani Village? I was under the impression that they would be primarily relying on the amenities of the parent resort like Bay Lake Tower.

Valid points, but again DVC didnt think real hard about facts like that, just went with what they normally price rooms at per point based on what a studio costs and moved up the typical cost from there.

They have put out info on some of the amenities - pool/Moana splash pad, table service, gym, etc.

Has a TS restaurant, pool bar/restaurant, pool with a moana themed splash pad area that looks pretty great. You could easily stay in just the tower footprint and never have to venture to the GCH much outside of going to catch the monorail.

There is a new restaurant and pool. Kind of a blend between BLT and kidani. The restaurant sounds like it will be table service for dinner and QS breakfast but no confirmation I’ve seen

That is why were looking forward to the 1 bedroom for the extra 2nd bathroom.

Yes I've been caught in quite a few monsoons retrieving breakfast and bringing it back to PagoPago.

Even so I would take the longhouses over the tower for the extra shower if we were having to stay in a studio.
