Has anyone seen a video walkthrough or a floor plan for the penthouses?

So it seems like you already have the answer for your family....why the need to berate everyone else into providing a reason other family's might not need an extra shower (or to play basketball in the bathroom) and otherwise prefer the tower?

I haven't berated anyone. I asked a sincere question.

Every decision has pros and cons. I listed several ways in which the existing studios are quantifiably better than the new studios. They're larger, more showers, closer to the TTC, and sleep 5. Those are objective, measurable facts, not differences in opinion.

So if those things are in the "pro" column for the existing studios, what are the "cons" that I'm missing that would cause someone to prefer the tower? Asking that question isn't berating anyone who likes the tower, I'm literally asking about their thought process because I'm interested in it.

having recently bought PVB via resale, longhouses still win for my family of four (kids different genders) but the opportunity to save some points and put my dear old mum in a duo is a nice option albeit I imagine the standard views will be like absolute gold dust (and after that not worth it, may as well attempt connecting longhouse studios).

We always book at eleven months as travelling from uk for two weeks so plan well ahead, we’ve been able to extend our Easter 2025 trip using SSR points, hopefully we’ll still be able to do that in the future, realistically we can only travel at Easter and Christmas as summer is too hot for us!

FWIW the better kitchenette would have made the tower studio a better choice for my family if we were still a family of 4.

As a family of 5 now though, forget it.

Dont think they berated anyone, just sharing why they (and most likely a lot of other families, mine included) would prefer the longhouse to the tower studio

(we cant stay in the tower anyways since we are 5, but even if it was 5, I'd most likely still prefer longhouse since its bigger and has the two showers, assuming the tower still only had the 1 if it allowed 5)

There was no sharing as to their preference until the third time they posted because they weren't happy with the responses that didn't directly respond to the point they were trying to make in their first post (which, instead of just outright saying "we prefer the longhouses because it's bigger and has an extra shower" they chose to just allude to). Then when some possible reasons one might prefer the towers, they focus on whether "double bathroom" should mean just an extra shower or something more. To me, it feels like berating the point.

The fact that it can sleep another person and has an extra shower for the same points yup they will start to be filled and our 7 month bookings will disappear I fear as well.
I believe the longhouses will be booked by the new owners that are just starting out before their family grows.

For the same point value if I owned there, I'm picking the one with the extra shower each time as it just makes getting ready that much easier.
We are ones that always come back to the room to relax and clean up before heading to our ADR so the 2 showers are valuable to us.

And with the points cost for a 1br if you are a family of 5, you can do two stays in a longhouse sleeping same number vs 1 stay in the 1br.

So i think new points buyers will gravitate to the longhouses eventually.

It has one normal-sized bathroom and the other one is big enough to play basketball in.

But yes, an extra shower is the main thing you would expect to gain when someone says the word "double bathroom."

I don't know about your family, but two people needing to shower at the same time would be more of a disruption to my family's routine than two people needing to poo at the same time.

I have to agree with @ocdb8r1 on this one.

Think of buying a house. You have a Full bathroom (Toilet, Tub, Shower [Tub & Shower can be combined or separate]), 3/4 Bathroom (Toilet, Tub OR Shower), 1/2 Bathroom (Toilet)

Disney's description is as follows:

"Full bath separated into two areas—one with shower and sink, and the other with toilet, sink and tub/shower combination"

I think I must not be asking my question clear enough because that's not what I meant either.

I'm talking about the original, existing longhouse Deluxe Studios versus the new Deluxe Studios that are in the tower. I'm not asking about the savings for the Duo Studio (though I agree, they're not cheap enough to justify the downgrade IMO).

The Morea/Pago Pago/Tokelau buildings are the same price as the Deluxe Studios in the tower, but they're WAY larger, sleep 5, are right next door to the TTC, and have the double bathroom.

Okay! Still drinking coffee. For us, it would be because we prefer the tower type set up over the longhouses.

We are not fans of those and why we are not buying.

We only use studios for two so don’t need the extra space.

Any group who has zero need for the twin pull down and a second bathroom. Who also prefers the decor, closer to Grand Floridian, better views, higher floors, the overall newness of IT, any of the amenities of Island Tower...

I would pay $10 per point extra for a January Use Year solely for the purpose of avoiding the pretzel-knots that December UY forces your brain into.

Ha ha we’d join her at the tower if we could get her in there! She’s 80 next year and the original DVC buyer so not many trips across the pond left, got to make the most of them.

We bought a DEC UY thinking it would make things easy for figuring out points year vs calendar year but it’s the opposite as I’ve found out since it’s a year behind.

We don’t have set travel windows and while I do like the Dec UY it added complexity to understanding UY rather than making it easier.

I have it all figured out now but the first year we used it there was some confusion.

I didn’t see it that way at all because I was one who responded initially and completely didn’t understand the post.

In terms of bathrooms, I actually think it is an important distinction for those who are new and don’t know that is is more of a split one with two showers..
