So, my folks are going to Disney alone for the first time ever. They've been at least a dozen times, so they know their way around, but I want to give them a "survival kit" since this is the first time they're going without the kids (granted, we're both grown and out of the house, but still).

I know I'm going to pack a handfull of pins for them to trade and a picture of us to carry around to our favorite places. Any other suggestions? Maybe a book of Hidden Mickey's and a list of cool things to do that they may have missed?

Thanks for your help!

How sweet! I hope my kiddos do that us when we get to that point in life.:goodvibes

Perhaps some Disney Dollars or maybe matching t-shirts. Maybe you could contact their resort and have a special dessert or some fun items (anniversay pins, balloons, flowers) in their room upon their arrival. You could also plan for a fireworks cruise or have a special cake at one of their meals.

I like the T-shirt ideas, and the flowers in the room when they get there - those are definately going on my list!

Please, keep 'em coming!

Maybe pay in advance for a carriage ride around POR, or make a list of "romantic" things to do....

Watching "Wishes" from the Poly beach, stroll along the Boardwalk...etc.

I like the "Hidden Mickey Book" idea and also a Anniversary Cake in the room upon arrival.

Good Luck!

They will have a Magical Trip without anyone else!

What time of year are they going?
What about making a booklet of places they should go to, since they'll be alone (as opposed to dragging all the kiddos with them)

Or make an autograph book using photos from past family trips and ask that they have the book signed (ie. have Goofy sign a photo of the family with him at breakfast)

A Do Not Disturb Doorhanger?

Too funny! I'll go with that, too. They are going in late September, after the summer swarms vanish, and before the Halloween hooplah.

I think they're staying at All-Star Movies, so maybe a movie theme...

We've gotten them Kool-Aid packets to add to the water bottles, a "Music from the Park" cd to listen to on the plane ride there, and some disposable ponchos. We got a packet of band-aids for Mom - her feet look like mummies, but she never gets blisters. :thumbsup2

Also, I've given them an "Emergency Tour Guide" business card with my phone number on it. Ever since I could read, I've been the "navigator" on our disney trip and haven't needed a map since I was 12 XD

If they are coffee drinkers, how about some of their favorite coffee and to go cups? The coffee at WDW isn't that great, so a couple of trips ago we started buying special coffee and to go cups for our trips. We buy coffee we love, but is too expensive for everyday drinking. And we get the to go cups with lids so we don't have to worry about dragging our mugs around and can just pitch them when we are done. I feel a little guilty about the recycling issue, but we do that at home.

I'm going with 3 other adults this September and have started packing away some "goodies" for them on our trip. I've got ponchos and drink packets too! Most have been purchased on trips to the dollar store and other discount places. Here are some other things I'm bringing.

Pocket-sized battery fans
Disney (Pooh & Tigger) socks
Mickey tie-dye shirts (instructions here on The DIS)
Small bottles of hand sanitizer gel
Small bottles of sunscreen
Glow stick necklaces to wear at night
Disney hair goodies for us ladies. "Princess" headbands and ponytail holders.
Mini Disney-brand toys to play with in line, while waiting for dinner, or just for some downtime: yo-yo, silly putty, spinning tops, go fish game, paddle ball, mini jigsaw puzzle

We may be adults, but everyone's a kid a Disney. :yay:

Woah! I thought I was reading my own question for a minute... I'm like "When did I post this???" LOL... I decided to do that for my parents as well! Their anniversary is the 14th of July and we're leaving for Disney on the 27th, so I thought it would be unique to make them a Disney Survival Kit! Here are some things I'm putting together:

A map of each park with all of the restrooms highlighted (lol, my mom is famous for making a gazillion stops at the restroom! She ALWAYS has to pee!)

Carry along fans

Sunblock

Drink Packets

Bottles of Water

Walking shoes for both of them

2 Ten Dollar Rolls of Quarters (Everytime we go down there, they stop at the laundry room to wash their clothes before we leave. They're always scrambling for change, so I figured I would beat them to it!)

Printed out maps (which I found on these message boards) of the best fireworks/parade seats!

Hidden Mickey Booklet

That's pretty much all I've come up with so far, but I hope that helps a little bit! lol, good luck :)

We've gotten them Kool-Aid packets to add to the water bottles, a "]"Music from the Park" cd to listen to on the plane ride there,

Where did you find the CD? I have wanted one of those for a while? Thanks.

I got a lot of park music when music downloads were still legal. Never really felt the need to delete it. :rolleyes1

Check "a popular on-line auctioning site", though: they have a few park music CD's out, and that's the best place to find them.

Great ideas, guys - please don't hesitate to add more suggestions!
