Putting People on Pedestals

My small town just elected a new First Selectman...youngish guy, little life experience, still lives home with Mom and Dad.

To the people in this town, he is like the second coming of Christ.

There's a little discussion board run by some lady in town, and every time this kid blinks, he is being praised to high Heaven!

So my question is, when a politician is put on a pedestal, when they fall off, do you think their fall is farther and do they hit the gournd harder?

politicians, athletes and movie stars/actors/singers should not be put on pedestals. they're human just like the rest of us and when they fall off that pedestal, the fall is so much further and harder because the media wrings every last tragic word out of a story until there's just nothing left. in my opinion, if the media didn't focus constantly on these things, it might make it easier for those involved to pick up the pieces.

I think this is why so many pastors have problems with scandal. People put them on pedestals expecting them to be perfect and they are human too.
