purpose of the dog run

There are campgrounds out there that do not allow dogs at all. I would think if dogs bothered me so much I would seek them out.

I am a dog person. Am I happy if I step in dog mess, of course not. But I am not going to let it ruin my day/trip. It happens, you know ?? :rotfl:

Wait ...I wasnt choosing sides...I was just adding some gas to the fire...those were just random questions for ya'll to argue ......um.....debate over!!!

Personally, I'd never bring a pet with me ANYWHERE because I hate most of my pets because they get better treatment than me in MY HOUSE!!!! But I grew up with dogs, I seeing one in my loop wouldnt bother me one way or another...I probably wouldnt even notice. I literally have no sense of smell...so if they laid a big steamy one on the guys site next to mine....wouldnt make me mad at all. Now, if he did it on MY site...I might get a little ticked, but not at the dog...I'd pick it up bare handed and fling it right on the owners head...*reminder to self...bring hand sanitizer*.

Last time I checked, FW is still a campground for "We the people", whether WE have dogs or not. At least it is right now!?! Where are these campgrounds that don't allow pets? I don't know of any in our area like that. We also camp in Myrtle Beach and all the campgrounds there are pet friendly and don't have any specific area for pets, though I wish they did!

BTW-We have 11 chicken houses.

I really do love dogs!:flower3:

Well, gotta go pick up dead chickens and walk the dog.......

Flame,.....Im liking you more and more with every post....thats some sassy, sarcastic, edgey, strokin their fur the wrong way, funnies ya got runnin through your head!!!

Rattlesnakes...in FL???? Is that native territory for rattlers?

It sure is, Rog! The Eastern Diamondback. I've been hiking, camping & bicycling in some pretty remote areas & I can count on one hand the times I've seen a rattler. Usually, they sense you coming long before you arrive & they "beat scale" outta there!!!

All the clearing at FtW has disturbed their habitat, so I'm sure there have been a few occasions where snakes (rattlers or otherwise) have been spotted by guests. With all the undergrowth removed, the snakes (and other critters) have no place to hide. So it just makes sense that you're going to see more.

The only snake that I know of (and have experienced) that is aggressive enough to chase you down is a water moccassin. They are very, very nasty critters, and extremely territorial.

G'day, mate!!

You aint kidding....they are ornary aint they. Every once in a while a heavy storm will flood things out around here, and we live in a fairly rural area(as rural as ya can get being so close to New Orleans)...and every once in a while we'll get some water mocs that venture out from the streams and canals and onto porches, under stairs ( our house is raised about 3ft off the ground), and Im sure we've got some tenants under the house. Regular water snakes will get lost with a quickness when you open a door or get anywhere near them....those mocs will dare you to take another step towards them. and they dont usually warn you, they are usually silent....most never know they are their till its too late. That bravery of theirs works against them though...Ive chopped several in two around the house because they just aint smart enough to realize that my shovel is longer than their strike!!!

Some of the guys I work with have came across quite a few snakes under houses while they were working under there.

I had a small snake at our site in 11/05. I was going to kill it when a CM sad no I had to wait for FW animal control. Then a kid threw a rock at it and it was gone by the time FW animal control got there.

Flame, I don't take offense. Forums are for opinions and if someone gets their feelings hurt???? I bet you live in the country, with the chickens and all. I also used to have chickens, but they all died a natural death. Couldn't bring ourselves to eat one.... I was raised as a country guy, butchering our own hogs, milking the cow, actually eating squirrels and rabbits, etc. I've changed. Squirrels are for feeding, lol. I also hate those people that are too lazy to clean up after their pets, but I know their out there. You do know that there are a lot of good pet owners?

I can just see how you handle the dogs when you go on vacation...dump a huge bag of Ol' Roy in the bulk feeder and fill up a bunch of 5 gallon thinset buckets with water just in case they get thirsty and hope for the best. LOL, bet I'm close.

Most of us don't care more for the dogs than we do people. Most of us have raised children and enjoy the love and devotion we get from "man's best friend" after they've left home. Believe me, the dogs are a lot less trouble. Keep up the "Flamein"

lynndiwagon ,

I have two Boston Terriers too! :)
I agree with your post, my BT's are very sensitive to tempature changes and we keep ours in doors unless they are going for a walk etc. Our BT's are our kids and we want to spend as much time with them as we can. Unfortunatly, pets lives are much shorter than human ones and to often this fact is taken for granted.

PS
I thought your post about the snakes was perfect and made sense to me. :)

Thanks for the support mmketeer. We BT folks are unique. If you haven't looked there, go to "woofboard.com". You'll absolutely love it. BT's only.

Hey steping on a little dog poop never hurt anyone... now steping on a rattler is another story. :scared:

of course that depends on the size of the dog :lmao: (we have a saint)- and at times I think his piles could be compared to the size of Thunder Mountain.

Yes we sure are and I haven't met a BT person or person who knew of someone that had one that didn't love them. :) Thanks, I haven't ever seen that website, so I'll pop over there and check it out. :)
