Purchasing the dining plan??

Question for ya'll now if we purchase the dining plan is the tip included? I understand it is not if you are on the free dining but what about if you are not? We are planning a trip for early August and I highly doubt we will get free dining so with that said we decided to purchase it. Thanks

Tips aren't included on the dining plan whether it's purchased or not. It was included a long time ago- I think they ended it in 2007 or so. We went the first 6 or 7 years of free dining and tip was included the first two. It's definitely not as great of a deal as it once was! So keep in mind when you order from the dining plan the cost of the meal would factor in to your tip calculation.

Getting the dining plan for free as part of a promotion, paying for the dining plan, or paying out of pocket makes no difference.
Gratuities are not included unless otherwise specified.
Parties of 6 or more are charged an automatic 18% gratuity that is added to the bill.

Only a select few locations include the gratuity under the dining plan. Off hand, I can say that Hoop-Dee-Do, Cinderella's castle and the Polynesian Review have the tip included with your dining plan. You are expected to tip at all other locations. Disney has made it easy by calculating the gratuity for you on your receipt and you can charge it back to your room.
