Purchasing Small-Point, Direct?

I'm thinking ahead to Lakeshore Lodge and purchasing a small-point contract, Point Chart pending. This would be my first Direct purchase, holding a handful of small-point resale contracts to date.

Anyway, I understand that I won't be able to take advantage of any incentives with the (small, 50 - 60) contract I'd purchase, but unlike resale, will this transaction be taken care of on the same day, in a matter of hours?

Can I use my credit card with Disney to make this purchase and if so, how much will they allow me to charge?

Lastly, all my contracts being the same Use Year, I'll be able to choose which UY I want, no problems, yes?

To get a different UY, you would have to purchase whatever the current new member minimum point requirement is. Different UYs would also result in a new membership number.

To get only 50 - 60 points, they would have to have the same UY as an exiting contract.

Great - that's what I would want. Thanks!

You'll likely have your points before you get off the phone.

Yes you can use your credit card to make this purchase and you can pay for the entire balance with it.

They absolutely will match your current use year.

Well I don’t think it’s that fast but typically by the end of the day.

All answers I wanted to hear - awesome! Thank you!

I would assume that the minimum add on will be set at 50 points, since that seems to be what they have done for new resorts since CCV.

Since you mentioned "credit card," I should point out that the Disney/Chase cards not only offer cash back for Disney purchases but may offer you a one-time pay-over-time two year loan at 0%. I believe this is one per customer, if you're eligible. But if you had a big purchase, this would be the way to go, if it was open to you. I did this once. I could've paid it off. But just left the money in a different account gaining interest and paid it back $500 a month interest free. If you use the right card and also have the cash is an account that makes money, plus the 2% back (on the upper tier card), it's probably a 7-8% swing overall. Or on a 50 point purchase, probably just under a grand in savings.

I think the best you'll get with Disney Visa right now is 6 months at 0%. You can break up your DVC purchase into a few chunks and each chunk will get 6 months at 0% interest.

There's another option on the Disney / Chase cards. I've used it once. I think it's called something very close to pay over time. You need to go onto the app or the web to claim it. At most, you are offered one 0% 24-month option. (After that you pay for the service.). But I believe you can put whatever one purchase you want on it that way up to the limit of your card. And assuming you're approved for the initial trial, there's is no interest, no fee, nada for the first use.

I have seen that but the last I checked, it is not a free loan. They build a finance charge into the payment. At least, that's how it was the last time I looked at it. It's possible it's changed. And they may not allow that for DVC purchases since they already offer 6 months at 0%, I'm not sure. Still, it's something to look into for those interested.

I'm not sure if they float this offer out to everyone. But for some, there's a one-time, initial free offer. I used it once for chunky a DVC purchase. No interest. No fee. I'm not sure who gets that offer, who doesn't. But I think a number of people here did get it. I also think you need to click into it to see if there's a trial offer option inside of your Chase portal. For me it was not advertised. Someone told me about it. But yes, after the one-time free offer, there's a chunky fee to use it.
