Purchasing over the phone?

After a lot of research, I'm thinking of making a call today to join DVC. I plan on going through Disney, but I get so nervous talking to sales people over the phone. What kind of information will they need from me? Do I put downpayment on credit card? Will they do credit check? I just want to be prepared with all the info they need so we are not doing a phone tag thing all day. My phone I.D. showed that someone from DVC called Wed. night...what a great marketing tease! Thanks for any info you can provide.

The guides are easy to talk to. they are excited for you, too. You can put your downpayment on a credit card. NOt sure about the credit check, ask your guide how that works.

Your guide will tell you anything you want to know. We paid a down payment with a cc and then they sent us all of the paperwork and we filled it out, got it notarized, etc. Later on we received a note saying our financing was approved (they did the credit check) and we were all set.

We did everything over the phone, did have some docs faxed (I think). I don't know about the credit check, we just applied ours to a low interest home equity we had at the time. It was very easy.

We, as others, purchased via phone. It is a simple process and very low pressure. Yes, you put a deposit down with a credit card. If you are coming up with the rest of the balance they do not do a credit check. If you are financing through Disney they won't check until you sign your docs in the FedEx package. After that its clean sailing......you may or may not get points to play with depending on what type of purchase they are offering.

We did the phone also. We paid the entire amount with a Marriott Reward Visa and received enough points from that for two 5 day park hopper passes

We paid off the credit card when the statement came with bonus money.

Thanks everybody...I feel better already. I did call this afternoon. The sales rep that was assigned to me from a referral was not in, but the lady I spoke with WAS really nice and I wasn't nervous at all! I will hopefully get the process rolling in a day or two. Can't Wait!!

I called my guide in March of this year (?) and when I called the second time that day ( after deciding to buy in ) it was 7 pm . My guide told me that they were doing something new at that point and they had a new system to do a credit check instantly so I gave the ok , he checked came back and said that YES I did get approved for Disney financing the only thing he could not tell me was the rate at that time( I knew it from here ) Gave him $500.00 deposit on a credit card and they FedExed me my paperwork ........

it was really easy.

Our original DVC purchase was also over the phone as we purchased sight unseen.

The main thing to avoid being nervous is to be very well versed in DVC before talking to the Guide. They will be very helpful, but in the end they are salespeople so you want to do research first and not rely on them for all the information.

Ask questions, read the DVC boards here, and if it looks good for you, then pull the trigger.
