Purchasing More Points

We are thinking about purchasing more DVC Points, we currently have 200 at Saratoga, I would like 75 more. My question is, can you bargain with the price of points? And can you bargain with the closing costs?? Or is it "it is what it is?"

On the resale market everything is negotiable. From DVC I think it is what it is.

Technically, everything is negotiable...even DVC pricing...but as my dad would say about buying a car back in the 40's.."you can have any color you want...as long as it's black. You can ask DVC for whatever price you want...as long as it's the set price.

A little off topic, but in the 40's you could buy cars of different colors. What your dad was quoting was actually from the days of the old Model-T, all of which were black in color.

The reason was that Henry Ford was using the most advanced assembly line at the time, and of course the idea is to keep the line moving as fast as possible to maximize productivity. They experimented and found that black paint dried quicker than other colors, so all cars were painted black for that reason.

Getting back OT, you really can't negotiate with Disney. They will have various programs at different times, but any offers you get will already be defined as the promotions currently available.

... and you can certainly negotiate wth resale, but if you get "a deal" Disney will almost certainly exercise ROFR and you won't get the points.

Disney pretty much sets the price point for DVC points. They run some specials which may save you some $$ if you buy from them. There is the resale market, but Disney also exercises ROFR, so even if you were to get a great price from a current owner for their resale points, Disney would probably exercise ROFR and take those points back.
