Hi all! WDW vet here, not quite a DL newbie (only been once a few years ago), but I have a ticket question that I can't seem to find the answer to. I was trying to purchase 4 2-day tickets online and then discovered that I can only use one Disney GC online. I have combined my gift cards into 2 gift cards that I was going to use for this purchase. Since my purchase will be over $1,000 I had read that I would need to call in and that the cast member could apply 2 gift cards to my transaction. Trying to find a number to call wasn't the easiest but I called and the cast member told me that they could only apply one gift card as well. She suggested that I purchase as two separate transactions if I wanted to use both gift cards.

What's the easiest way to do this? I'd rather purchase online since I can then do it when it is convenient for me. Could I make two separate purchases and then merge the reservations into one? Is it easy to merge reservations into one account? Or should I try guest services again?

I apologize for not directly answering your question. It might be worth considering going through a third party where you can still get tickets at the old prices for a few more days.

I understand you want to use your gift cards, and that is a valid decision and a good reason to go through Disney, but the savings of buying tickets at the old prices will likely offset the GC savings. You could save the GC's for a future Disney ticket purchase or Disney trip/item.

This is unsolicited advice and you can ignore me, I just wanted to mention the potential savings in case you weren't aware. There are many reputable third party authorized ticket vendors many of us on here frequently use.

Good luck with the two gift card usage though - that is frustrating!

You should be able to do this as two separate purchases online. What I don’t know though is if Disney is one of those sites that grabs and stores the whole gift card on its site when you use it. If so then that is a problem. I might be explaining poorly but an example is Target: when you put in a gift card for payment in Target’s site any leftover balance is stored in your Target account for future use. If Disney does this too and your first purchase doesn’t use up the entirety of the gift card, then you are back to the two gift card problem. A way to ensure that doesn’t happen is to purchase on 2 separate accounts. Buy the first two tickets in your own account and then the second two on an account for another member of your party. Once purchased it is simple to add tickets within app to various accounts. If it was desirable to you, each member of your party could have their own account and add all 4 tickets to it.

I use GC for all of my Disney purchases (DisneyStore online, dining payments, food in the parks, merchandise in the parks, MK purchase, etc). I've never had a problem with the funds being tied up in one of the accounts. My GC are stored in my Google Wallet and will screenshot the GC to share with family members while we are in the park. It doesn't matter who uses the GC. In fact, the opposite is the problem that I have. I would like to store my GC as a form of payment for mobile order, etc. Disneyland app does not allow me to do that. Everytime I want to mobile order, I need to re-enter the GC info.

Disney's website and Disney phone agents can only accept one form of payment. A GC up to $500 is considered a form of payment. The only way to use two forms of payment (ex. GC + credit card) is to do it at the on site ticket booth in person.

I agree with others in that you should try to split your purchases. If there are funds left on your GC, you can use it for purchases in the parks.

I can't combine them anymore than I have. Each GC can only have up to $1000 on them.
Can’t you just make two separate purchases of two each?
I can but my question then was if I do that, how do I combine the reservations into one? So that everyone is linked together?

You can buy online using a GC + a CC but since I thought I could use multiple GC's by calling in I'll end up having some left over on each gift card by doing two separate transaction. That's fine, we can use them for dining or whatever when we are there. This is likely a last Disney trip for us so I am trying to use up what I've got on the gift cards rather than going through a third party site.

I'm not sure that you need to combine your reservations if you are only buying park tickets. Perhaps I am not understanding you correctly, but I don't see how/why it would matter. Make your normal park reservations and you can add all your tickets on your app.

I think the combination of reservations is a function of who you have linked in your account, not a function of whether you purchase the tickets together.
Correct, this is different at DLR and WDW.

At WDW each person exists as an entity separate from tickets and family members/party members need to be linked together.

At DLR, there are no "people" in the app. People only exist as valid tickets. Once you link the ticket to your app, you can name it as a person.

Thank you all, this is what I needed to know. I'm used to WDW where you have to link everyone together. I've only been to DL once and that was a few years ago and I didn't really remember how we did the tickets. There will be four of us going and I just want us all to be able to grab LL for each other. This makes more sense, so I will just buy 2 tickets each in two transactions and it should all work out. Thanks!
