I asked this inside a different thread I posted, but thought I might get more responses here.

Can I get the same deals booking myself through Disney.com as I would get through an authorized disney travel agent? Also, can I call disney directly and add dining if I purchase my tickets and hotel through undercover Disney or my employer? I was planning on using an agent, but might be going a different route at this point... I'm so overwhelmed by all the different strategies and some of it seems to contradict itself, which is why I was originally planning on using an DTA.

Maybe. Some travel agencies buy rooms in bulk at a convention rate. If you book with one of them you could save up to 45%.

No.

So, dining can only be purchased through a DTA or as a package deal through Disney?

What about hotel plus dining? Does that exist? And who could I book that through? disney.com or DTA?

We never purchased Dining plan with tickets. We use discounted military tickets bought at a military base and still got a dining plan. We did use a TA however. I’d call and ask.

I think it depends on who your TA is. I asked Undercover Tourist if we could add the dining plan after getting a hotel through them and they said no. So we just went ahead and booked through Disney.

I’m unfamiliar how UT books hotels, I have only bought tickets thru them. Most Disney Authorized TAs get you the same price as you would thru Disney. They are able to book you packages with Dining. I don’t get the DDP, the past few years we don’t find it to be the value it once was. And I usually have an AP so I just book my Room Only res with a TA. I find it saves me time and it’s easier. I just send TA an email on what I want. Also it’s just a quick email to make room payments too. Between working full time, and different time zone, it saves me time.

Being new to WDW I think you could benefit booking with a TA. A good TA will help you find the best deal for you, and explain about Fast Pass and anything else you need to know.
