But hotel said I need to have had the pass at the time of reservation to receive discount. Just looking for clarification that this is correct? We checkout tomorrow.

Thanks!

You usually have to have it at the time of check in, and you need to have made the reservation using an AP code. I don't think they will give a discount after check in.

I have heard (but never tried it out) that you can book the AP rate without an AP then get the AP when you are there. Don't know if they will let you get the AP on day 2 for instance and show it then or if you have to upgrade right at check-in. In any case though, you needed to have booked an AP rate to have any chance of getting it. You can't book some other rate, be there at the park and buy an AP, and then ask to go back and have your rate changed to the AP rate.

I thought Hojo's MAY HAVE said that as long as you have the pass during your stay you can use the rate. Though I could be misremembering.

As for Disney and other hotels, maybe not so much....

Sounds like you booked the room, bought the pass, then are going back looking for a discount...no dice.

For DL properties, you can book a room in advance on AP rate and not actually have one. As long as you buy one before arrival or when you check into the hotel. you are good to go...but it has to be booked in advance.

Not sure, but I would imagine that off site properties are similar...that you have to have the pass in hand upon check in.

Hojo will let you book the AP rate and show the AP anytime during your stay. I hadn't gotten our APs yet when I checked in for my August stay. That night after going to the parks, I stopped by and showed them my new AP. The bill at the end reflected my AP discount. Note, I had booked the AP rate and checked policy with on-site hotel staff before arrival.

I assumed for some reason OP was talking about a DL resort hotel.

This is pretty much what we did at the Paradise Pier in May 2010. Made the reservation, checked in, purchased APs, showed them at the front desk before checking out.
