Purchase Water or Bring my Own Bottle?

I'll be visiting both parks later this week on a quick solo trip from Oregon. In the past, I would purchase bottled water and recycle the bottles when done. As it sounds like there may be some changes with bottled water availabiity with limited carts to purchase from, would it make more sense to bring a refillable water bottle? I'm thinking that is one more thing to lug around and I prefer cold water. (I'm not sure if the refillable water stations will be that cold?). Any advice here is greatly appreciated! TIA, Chris

Bring an insulated refillable wide mouth water bottle. Water is expensive at almost $4/bottle. It's also HOT right now. A refillable insulated bottle is worth its weight in gold. The refill stations aren't very cold (they are slightly chilled) but you can refill on self serve ice and water in a few places: Alien Pizza Planet, the Coke freestyle machine in the Quick Service place inside the Grand Californian, and the one across from Soarin. You can also ask for cups of ice water at any quick service food location and they will give you as many as you want. They won't always have ice in them, though, because they make up the cups en masse and let them sit there. But the water will be cold and filtered. Lines at carts can be long, but you can also buy bottled water at a lot of souvenir stands.

All of the quick service restaurants will provide free cups of ice water. Often in the summer, they have a tray of of them filled and ready to hand out. Even in our recent visit in May when almost everything was Mobile Order only, we had no problems walking up and asking for cups of water. That said, of you want a lower waste option, we.love the collapsible Vapur water bottles, which fold up very small when not in use. Ours are several years old and going strong: https://www.vapur.us/

I have used vapur bottles for my trips to Disneyland and they have been fantastic. I carry a small crossbody bag and clip the bottle to my bag. You could also clip it to a belt. It was so nice to be able to get a quick drink when I was thirsty and not have to stand in line or pay money. My favorite style is the wide mouth.

The only issue I have with these bottles is that the water gets so warm so quickly in the sun here. I can't tolerate warm water. It makes me nauseous. I need it to be almost ice cold. My Vapur water bottle is collecting dust somewhere.

Same. I liked the Vapur in theory, but just doesn't cut it for me when out on a hot, sunny day. I bring a Hydroflask-type bottle, but a brand that is much lighter in weight than the Hydroflasks.

Noticed yesterday that the new Avengers campus has a water bottle refill included with the regular water fountains, so can add that one to the water station list. And when we asked for ice water at Smokejumpers it was a regular-sized cup, but the ice water from Flo's was given in a humongous soda container.

I really like a metal water bottle. It adds weight but I need cold water! I also need one that doesn’t sweat. I like contigo brand, but there a tons of others. I know this sounds crazy but try to figure out what bag you will carry and make sure the bottle fits. I have one that is just a little too tall for my park bag.

For those bringing water bottles, below is a useful video on where the filtered water refill stations are in Disneyland and DCA.

Not covered in the video, there are also water bottle refill stations on Tom Sawyer Island (near the restrooms) and Avengers Campus (not sure where located but several people have commented that there is one in AC).

Anyone know of any other locations not covered in the video?

Thanks for the video. I think I need a shorter water bottle!
We went yesterday and it was very hot and the lines for beverages were long. Fill your reusable bottles with as much ice as possible before you head out. There are places to refill them as seen in the video, but few options for ice. I wish I knew about the fountains and ice at Pizza Planet yesterday…we ran out of cold water around 4 and didn’t drink much after then because warm water isn’t very refreshing.

Thank you! I will fill mine with ice. I am taking my mother and she only drinks room temp water, she will be happy. We are going in Dec.

I've done both recently and bringing a water bottle is easier when the lines as long as there are refill stations and fountains all over the park.

There is a water bottle filler in Avenger's campus as has been mentioned a few times. There is also one in the exit to MFSM in SWGE. I have no idea why they put this inside the ride exit. I am not sure they would let you walk up the exit to use it, so we just use it when we come off the ride. I do not like filling my water bottle from the water fountains that you actually can drink from, so both of these stations are true bottle filling stations (like you see in dorms, in airports etc). They are hands free. I wonder if the stations the person in the video mentions are still there, since it seem like you have to touch the spout of the bottle to the lever to dispense the water (not too COVID friendly).

There is a Coke Freestyle machine in Pym's test kitchen, which also has water. They did not seem to be limiting soda refills that I could tell while we were there?

Is the filtered water bottle filler the one in Pym's Test Kitchen or is there another one? If there is, where would it be located in Avengers Campus?

There is also a water refill station near the restrooms/markets in Galaxy's Edge. There are two "regular" water fountains and a separate bottle refill station.

There is a Coke Freestyle machine (dispenses all different custom sodas but also has ice and water options) inside Pym's Test Kitchen (to the left of the order pick up counters, if you are facing the counters). The water bottle filler in Avenger's Campus is located outdoors, where OP stated, in the area where the regular drinking fountains are located, by the Ancient Sanctum on the edge of Avengers' Campus.

My last trip I brought an insulated cooler back pack and had cases of water delivered to my room using Walmart delivery.

I hate warm water, so I would take the empties, refill them and freeze (like ice packs, this way no water leaked) And this worked like a charm. Every time we left our hotel we took 6 cold bottles from fridge and three frozen from freezer. The water was always nice and cold and we never had to worry about drinks.
