Puppy training vent

It's really hard to get them to go outside when they don't want to go outside. It get their toes wet.

I'm trying really hard not to end up chasing both of them around the house to get them outside. it's not easy though

didnt' want to get her feet wet either........so I ended up picking up a 25lb dalmatian and bringing her to her spot so she would go........it was funny to see her pick her feet up one at a time......Now I just go with her when she has to go potty and hold the umbrella over her head so she won't get wet.........(while I get soaked).....hopefully she will get over that stage and go without me and the umbrella

Never had this problem with a golden retreiver. He would run through the water puddles and mud puddles over and over and over then drop and roll.

Better get them through that, what happens when it snows and they do not want to get cold. You need to go with them for a while to show them it is not that bad. They will get over that quick enough, you need to be firm in this or they will rule you. HMMMM, they will end up controlling you, but not in this matter you need to be persistant.

I love that umbrella part... I don't know what I would do if I had to carry umbrellas for all 3 of my dogs.
My dogs just try to hold it for as long as possible... I think they know that the rain has to stop eventually.

Monty HATES to get wet. When it rains, he actually turns around and snaps and growls defensivly at the raindrops as if to say "Who's there! Who's tapping me??? . Yes, he is very brave.

We sometimes have to pick him up and/or drag him. But you better get them used to it now.

Milo, our Corgi, hates the rain. He doesn't mind getting his feet wet after the rain. But if it's still raining, he usually refuses to go outside. Sometimes I think he's part wicked witch...you know...afriad he'll melt in the rain.

We have Chihuahuas and they are notoriously weird about their feet. Our newest addition, Perdita, is no exception to the rule. We basically don't allow her to avoid the dew covered grass or going out in the rain. She definately hates it! If you give into their fears when they are little, the fear then can become so ingrained that you can't train them out of it.

Once Perdita got taller than the grass, so that her belly wasn't getting soaked too, we just started telling her to come on out onto the grass. She reluctantly follows us out there, sometimes she whines or shakes her feet. We give her a small goodie when she does get out there.....that way she associates the sensation with something good too.

The other two Chihuahuas, Deuce and Beanie, learned to live with it using the same technique. Maggie

We don't have that probelm here, either. We have an 11 month old mixed Golden Ret., she loves the rain. She lays in the front yard while it rains, we have to drag her in if it's thundering or lightning.
