Pumpkins and Pirates and Cowboys... Oh my! Our dream Disney TR!

So, does anyone here know whether or not Universal rides are friendly to someone who is "pooh sized"?

I just pulled out my IOA map from 2003 to see if it said anything. Nope.
My educated guess would be that he might have problems with Dueling Dragons and The Hulk. I'm pretty sure that both of those coasters have the same kind of "seats" as Superman. I do remember them having test seats that were kinda of hidden from full view.

We really enjoyed both Universal parks...the guest service is not Disney (as you already know) but it's nothing like Six Flags New England.

:furious:

You know, between you and LL, I've become so disgusted with the lack of accomodation for people who are "pooh-sized." Sheesh, are we not all human?

So I'm mad on your behalf.

And stepping off my soapbox...thud...

I am mad on my own behalf...:furious: :furious: :furious:

I am disgusted with it as well...

:furious: :furious: :furious: I am ENRAGED that you got that comment. Did you ask to speak to their supervisor? People come in all shapes, sizes and colors...did they miss that day in Kindergarten??

Aparently they both missed that day... Cause the supervisor had the audacity to tell me that what their representitive said was true and that I shouldn't complain about the truth.

Thanks for being supportive TK!

Ditto for me  I love you guys!

I am very angry on your behalf!!! :headache:

I have no idea about Universal because I won't go. It's not Disney quality. As can be seen by their customer service jerks.

I think allearsnet has an article about Universal that might help -- I saw it when I was on there earlier today.

The funny thing about it is, they claim that they are better than Disney on their website. I have yet to see it!

I will have to check that out. Thanks :goodvibes

You know, I think I'm hyper-sensitive on this issue. My daddy is a big ole teddy bear. That's how I think of him. But it's typical in his Italian family that people are a bit larger than standard...and truthfully, it's never changed how much I LOVE HIM! Do I worry about his health? Yes. But do I appreciate every day? Absolutely. My Granddad was super skinny, but smoked. He died of a heart attack, and I had always thought we would lose him to lung cancer. Now, I know smoking could have contributed to the heart attack, but my point is, you just never know. And that's why it's sooooo important to enjoy life, and what you have. And to learn to be happy with yourself. Because life is just too short for me to keep worrying about the fact that my butt will never ever be the same as it was when I first met my DH, and before I had DS. Too many happy food memories and life changes have contributed to its bulk, and I'm proud of them. That's right, you heard it first here. I am proud of my big ole...well, you know.

Hijack over.

:goodvibes

My Dad is a teddy bear too, and I think that was another reason why he enjoyed Disney so much, was how accomedating they were. There was never a ride we could go on together.

I think Sir MixaLot said it best when he said, "I like big butts and I cannot lie..." C'mon ladies, you know you want to sing it with me!!! :goodvibes

You know other brothers can't deny
when a girl jumps in with a pretty pretty face and a

Oh, did I just do that?:rotfl2:
Yes.... But you forgot

Oh My God Becky Look at her butt
It is so big
I mean it is so round and out there

:lmao: :lmao:

:furious: My jaw literally dropped when I read this. How do such inconsiderate people end up working in customer service?

But sorry, sweetie, I can't help with how well Universal accommodates the "pooh-sized." I've only been to the CA one, and even that was 14 years ago.

I couldn't begin to tell you the answer to that question.

Thanks anyway!

Dare we even bring out Pour Some Sugar on Me?

I LOVE THAT SONG!!!

I am hoping that he can go on those rides, because he was looking forward to Dueling Dragons! Hopefully we can figure it out before we go, and save him any embarrasment...

Thanks for your help you guys. You are the best!

Well I am shocked. That would be enough for me to not go to Universal ever. Anyway, hope you can figure it out before then.

Oh and we used to have a Six flags here, but they closed it. Still have Splashtown and their is a Six Flags about 3 hrs from here.

World of Motion was one of my favorite rides in the parks.
...
As much as I can not wait to try Test Track... I know I will miss this ride come October!

Ditto and ditto.

So we are going to Universal (his choice not mine, trust me...) for 2 days of our trip.

Actually, you might enjoy it. (Despite your experience below.) While not really comparable to Disney, they do a pretty good job with theming and I enjoy quite a few of the rides.

I called Universal's Customer service line to ask similar questions regarding their rides.

I got "Well he has four months to lose weight and then you don't have to worry."

I'm stunned. As someone who used to work in telephone customer service, I'd have been apalled if I'd heard one of my reps say that.

HOWEVER, to enlighten you with some USEFUL information (perhaps I should get a part-time job as a US/IOA rep :sad2: ) :

If I remember correctly, US/IOA has "test seats" for some of their rides, including, I believe, The Hulk, Dueling Dragons and maybe even The Mummy. I'm on the larger side of average myself and while some of the seats were snug, I got in no problem. And there were other riders, with a bigger frame than my own, who rode. I actually remember seeing a very large woman get on one of the rides and not be able to strap herself in correctly. She looked disappointed and was struggling to get off and one of the CM's came over and said very discreetly, "Let me give you a hand getting strapped in here so you can enjoy the ride." The woman looked visibly relieved and thanked the CM profusely for not making any kind of scene.

I think you'll be okay with a lot of the rides.

I'm hot sticky sweet
From my head to my feet yeah.

Thanks Tink! I wouldn't want the vacation to be ruined, because he couldn't get on the two rides he really wants to go on.

Like I said you guys are the best!

I just did the coolest thing ever to be done with a lunch hour.... I went and saw the 2004 and 2007 Red Sox World Series Trophies... Not just saw... Touched.... It was awesome!

I will post the picture later.

They brought it in the special "trophy mobile" and they even took a professional photo I can get for free on Monday!

The only thing that would have been better is if DBF could have come along with me...

Somewhere in heaven my Grampa is beaming!

Actually.... I should make this have to do with Disney...

[announcer voice] Princesskeyblade, you just stood in the presence of two world series trophies... What are you gonna do next?

[normal voice] I'm going to Disney World!!!!

So last night we decided to take our date night to Nantasket, because the weather guy said it is the best night of the week. We head down, chit chating about the week and our busyiness. We got there and decided on a resturant, the Red Parrot, and had a great meal.

Then we headed for the carousel that they had there. It was awesome and was painted beautifully. They even had the carousel music playing. It was great. The sun was setting and we could see the orange sunset.

I always tell him to make wishes on stars and stuff, so his proposal focused on that, when he asked "you know what I wish for?" and I asked "what?", and I said "The same thing I always wish for: happily ever after," as he pulled out the ring and asked me the "will you marry me" question.

I was shocked and shook for a good bit of time. Honestly was the surprise of a lifetime!

Needless to say... I said yes!!! There were tears and happiness.

At that moment DBF became DF :cloud9:

The rest of the night was a blur. I remember that there was skeeball, but not much else.

No date will be set until after our Disney Trip, we are just savering the moment!

**Sniff Sniff** I am trying to wipe my tears without anyone noticing. That is one of the sweetest proposals. EVER. You tell DF I said so.

Awww....that proposal is a warm fuzzy, kwim?

So, so, so happy for both of you.:goodvibes

Ok, I'm guessing this has totally been mentioned on the LapuLapuette thread, which I've yet to catch up on, so I was totally clueless until just now.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! What a beautiful proposal. :lovestruc

PKB, that was the sweetest proposal EVER!!! I am still sniffling!!! It's way better than any ending to a Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks movie!!! :goodvibes

I'm going to go eat chocolate now!

I thought to myself I was in need of a girly movieathon tomorrow night while DF is at his game. I was putting "You've Got Mail" in there!

mmm chocolate!

What a beautiful proposal!

It really was. And it gave us the actual theme for our wedding... "Happily Ever After"

He couldn't even get through the story with his parents without tearing up, so he told them to ask me. They called last night and I told them the story and I actually think his Dad was really crying. His mom and I talked right after, but his dad was at a bbq at his bosses house. His mom actually said to me "It's about time!" His grandma was in tears when I called her. She really wants to see me and the ring so we are taking her out to dinner before Frank's game tonight.

Then I get to go home and Dis the night away!
