Pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.. A "must" or not?

Sorry, C. Ann. In this household it is a NOT!

We hate Pumpkin pie. Apple pie here. Made from scratch! :)

Yum, but only if you have ice cream. Lots of ice cream on a hot apple pie. Oh well, there goes the diet. again.

Prayers and well wishes to you Cinderella94:hug:

Pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin bread or pumpkin roll(slathered in extra cream cheese frosting!) It doesn't matter what form it is in as long as there is pumpkin somewhere in arm's reach:)

Dutch Apple, definitely. I hate pumpkin pie and never eat it but this year I'm hosting a few family members for Thanksgiving so I feel I have to have it. I'm not going to make a traditional pumpkin pie though, I'm going to make a pumpkin mousse pie. I may even try a piece.

I have a niece, she hates cheesecake I mean hates doesn't even begin to describe have she feels about it. Her brother loves the stuff. She makes the absolute best cheesecake ever, all kinds yet she won't put one crumb in her mouth

Mmmmmm...... love pumpkin pie. I like eating the next day for breakfast!!

For more than twenty years, there has been a pumpkin pie made each year (for both turkey day and Christmas) made for me. It does not get shared. At all. And once I have eaten it, it is not uncommon for me to scrounge a few more pieces from the other pie.

Pray for you Cinderella94 :hug::hug::hug:

Pumpkin yuck:scared::scared::scared:

Sweet potato pie love it. Right now I am making 5 sweet potato pies one for each person in the house for Thanksgiving. I still might get bite of pie. Between kids and mom. I really serious thinking making 10 pies.

Oh jeez, Cinderella94 - I completely missed your first message in this thread. I feel like such a heel. Prayers and well wishes - hope all goes well.

Just trying to get your appetites worked up for the big day..;)

So - for Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie a "must" for you?

---------------

Definitely for me.. I could eat a whole pie by myself! :goodvibes

I detest pumpkin pie, but pass me a plate of Sweet potato pie and I can eat the whole thing by myself:rolleyes1, Who needs to think about calories when you have all that good food around:confused3:scared:

Pumpkin pie is a staple year round in this house! I get huge pumpkins from the farm and steam and freeze pumpkin to use all year. And for us it wouldn't be thanksgiving without it.

But I like pumpkin flavored everything...pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin bread, pumpkin soup, pumpkin pasta, pumpkin muffins...

must not for me.... I've never had pumpkin before. When I touch the inside of a pumpkin (the guts and meat) I break out in immediate hives and my skin starts burning really bad. I'm scared to ingest it because if it causes that reaction but touching it, what is it going to do if I eat it....

DH was talking about making me get allergy tested, he says I am really missing out!

It's a must for us because my mom and I share a late November birthday and it's always our "cake." :)

Pumpkin Pie is a must. But it HAS to be made from scratch for 2 reasons.
1) It has to be egg free because I am allergic to eggs and egg free is basically impossible to find unless it has tofu in it and sorry...anything with tofu grosses me out
2) Most pies has cross contamination warnings for peanuts anyways and that means its all of limits as well.

The pumpkin pie is like the easiest thing to make. Throw everything into a blender and pour into pie crust and bake.

it is a MUST for me.. I love it!! only eat it at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it wouldnt be the same without it..

:lmao: My great-nephew has a February birthday and pumpkin pie is always his cake. I love his family birthday parties.

How hard is it to make your own pumpkin? When I read about all these people making it from scratch, I'm intrigued. I always use canned pumpkin. I remember my mom making her own pumpkin to use one year and it was such a pain, she went back to using canned. And this is from a woman who has always canned her own jams, tomatoes, and sauer kraut! :lmao: I'd love instructions and maybe I'll give it a try.

Everyone in my family loves pumpkin pie except for DH. I make him a raspberry pie all his own.

Luv me some pumkin pie on turkey day!

Yep...pumpkin pie is a must for Thanksgiving. It could be homemade, from a bakery, or even a Mrs. Smith's frozen one. Just make sure it's on the table.

Another must is canned cranberry sauce. Not the whole berry, the jellied kind. With lines around it from being in the can. Preferably the store brand, not Ocean Spray. Keep the fancy-smancy homemade whole berry cranberry crap away from me.

but not for me..I can't stand pumpkin pie..or pumpkin anything, for that matter. I make a blueberry cream cheese pie for me and anyone else who wants to pass on the pumpkin!

Same here ... blech. Pass the cherry pie, please!! :thumbsup2
