Greetings fellow DVCer's.

I have a 2BR reserved at BWV. I am curious as to how comfortable (or not) the pull-out sofas are.
More specifically the one in the studio room.
If anyone could share their experience it would be appreciated. Thanks!

We only used the one in the living room for my four and five year old. They were fine on it for a week. I lounged on it a little, but I wouldn't want to spend a week on the thing. Then again - we were less than satisfied with the mattress on the king bed - we are picky bed people.

Other people think it is just fine. So I suppose it depends on what you like in a bed.

I spent 6 nights on the one in the family room with my 2yro son. I had no problem at all. After a long day in the park, it's a fine place to sleep.

stay in studios alot - mother gets the bed - and yes I don't have a problem - as had been noted especially after a long day at the parks.

just make sure that you open up the sleeper sofa before you go off to the parks - especially if you are doing E-nights.....

Hi.

Uncomfortable for adults unless you take the mattress from the pullout in the living room and put it on top of the mattress on the pull out in the second bedroom.

My husband and I recently stayed one week in a one bedroom at BWV with our son & his family -- we got the pull out couch in the living room. The first two nights were rough, but after that, we slept just fine on the pull out. Just had to get used to it, I guess...

I have only slept on the sofabed in a DVC villa once when I stayed at a friend's villa at OKW and it was horrible, BUT that is because the frame on the sofabed was bent so the bar did not go down and it hit you right in the back! It was not my room or place to call maintenance and it was only for 2 nights so I survived but I definitly would not have lasted for many more nights without the sofabed being replaced. LOL
However on the flip side, I have had guests sleep on the sofabed in my villa many, many times and I have never had a single guest complain. They appear to be good quality sofabeds.

and a bottle or two of wine they are fine.

My children don't like it so we take the mattress off the bed and put it in the floor, then they are fine.

Does anyone know the scoop on the pulloutsa at BCV's? I'm hoping my mom will be comfortable on them- but may have to find something else as she has a bad back.

Apparently the mattresses on the pullouts in SSR and perhaps BCV are different from the other resorts. When I went through the models a couple of weeks ago for SSR I tried out the pullout bed. The CM told me they were a new kind of mattress. It was really thick and would be okay to sleep on. There was no bar in the middle to poke you in the back. I like a firm mattress, so it felt great to me. I would not sleep on a pullout in most resorts, but this one felt okay.

Hi, I slept on a sofa bed in the 2nd BR at BCV and it was very uncomfortable. The bar in the middle stuck out into my back. I called housekeeping to bring an up an eggcrate pad and it made a world of difference. It was very soft (not good if you like it you need it firm), but it made it a lot more tolerable to sleep on.

I find the pull-out sofa at both OKW and BWV to be uncomfortable. My kids are "ok" with it but I wouldn't be able to deal with it for more than a night or two at most.

When we were there in October, our guide said they are replacing all of the sleeper sofas with high quality custom designed versions (no bar!) made specifically for Disney. IIRC, they were starting with BCV (and I assume SSR will get the new version from the beginning) and moving on from there).

I should have tested out the new one in the model!

This is good news.....hope they have the ones at OKW replaced prior to our Nov 2004 trip !

In the VWL, my experience is the sofa bed slopes down from the head of the bed to the foot. It's very odd. I couldn't deal with it at all and ended up pulling the mattress off the bed, putting it on the floor.

The BWV has beds with a bar that breaks my back.

We just got back from our x-mas vacation with family, in Toronto. The kids slept on a pullout in our 1BR suite at a Staybridge (HolidayInn). They said it was terrific.

There are good sofa beds out there... just not at any of the DVC resorts. ... IMO of course.

It is possible to buy a good sofa bed these days. I have a fairly new one (very expensive originally but I got it slightly damanged at a Macy's furniture outlet) and it is pretty good.

My 53 year old brother with a very bad back slept on it last week and said it was great.

We have stayed at OKW and VWL only and I can only say that the couch part of the pull out bed were all fine, not one matress was any good by my standards. Their use was well past replacement.:crazy2:

My son-in-law, who is a rather large man, raved about how comfortable the pull-out sofa was in the studio they were in a couple of weeks ago (room 339).

Pat

297 days and counting . . . again!

Inky- which resort did you son in law stay in?
