Pull down bed question????

We have two DS's ages 5 and 3. They both move around a ton in their sleep. Would the 5 year old be safe in the pull down bed??? It just looks like the safety rail is pretty small in some of the pictures I saw. Fortunately our 5 year old likes to sleep on the floor so really it is no big deal one way or another.

I was worried about the upper bunk as well. We cruised this summer with a 6 year old and a 4 year old ... both of whom move around quite a bit (we find them with feet on the pillow in morning, hear loud thuds as they flop against the wall at night, etc.). They took turns sleeping on the top bunk and we never had a problem. It looks pretty scary in the pictures to me, but seems fine in person.

There is a rail.....never had a problem.

Another thought if the kids are small enough is to sleep them both on the lower bed with heads at opposite ends...feet in the middle.

DS has slept on the top bunk since he was 4. He move around a lots, especially sideways. We have not had any incidents with falling out.

My DS has also been sleeping in the top bunk since he was very young (3). He usually ends up sideways in bed but we never had any problems.

Well it had to happen!

My DS now 10, has slept on the top bunk for over 6 years and until recently we have never had any problem.

However..............

One night there was a massive thump, I was out of bed in a shot, and he had fallen from the top bunk onto the floor, I thought the worst, but he got up, went up the ladder and went back to sleep.

In the morning I asked how he was, and he asked why, when I told him what had happened he couldn't remember it, no damage.

But we asked for extra rails, as he does move about in his sleep, and it is possible to fall out, lucky the (Oval)table was near the TV, we tend to move it there otherwise he would have crashed into that sideways.

Thanks for all of the responses!!! So you can ask for extra rails?? It seems like you can pretty much ask for anything and the room host will try to make it happen. Sometimes I feel like I am being to high mantinence asking for anything, but on this trip I am going to ask for the things we feel like we need and not feel bad about it. That's what the tip is for I suppose(and extra tip if we have wonderful service!!)
