I have yet another dog question....

A friend of mine is looking for a puppy. There was a ad in regards to a pug...she called and this is what happened...

He states he brought this dog home from a breeder, he is 9 wks old. His wife is 8 mos pregnant, they "suddenly" have to move and can't take the dog with him. She responded to the ad and spoke to him. He wanted to bring the dog over to her right away. When she told him she wanted to wait and have her DH meet the dog so they arranged a meeting for the next morning. She is now having second thoughts b/c the guy is just willing to hand over the dog. He wants $450.00 cash (how much do pugs go for??) And is bringing all the stuff...lease/crate/papers etc to their meeting tomorrow. I thought maybe his wife was going to kill him b/c he brought home a dog when she was 8 mos pregnant. I don't know. She is now going to mull it over tonight and get back to him...he is under the impression they are taking the dog tomorrow at 10 am...she thought she was just going to see him but at the end of the conversation he said be sure to bring cash.... What would you do? Does this seem legit?

And if she does decide to go thru with it can anyone tell me about Pugs? Behavior? Do they like kids?

Sounds really fishy to me. I am a new pug owner. Wally is about 17 weeks old now. From what I have read, a responsible breeder won't let a pug go until 12 weeks old. Any problems don't show up until then.
As for children, I have 3. A 3yo, 6yo, and 9yo. I am also a Family Childcare provider. Wally has been fabulous with the kids, and the kids love him! He has really attached himself to my 6yo ds. Ds is always picking him up and carrying him all over. Sometimes in very awkward and uncomfortable looking positions. Wally still follows him everywhere and cries if he can't find him.

I don't know if that helps at all since I am such a new pug owner.

No thanks...she was a bit bothered b/c she said it was like she hung up and realized he thought she was purchasing his dog! Her husband basically said no b/c they are going to WDW the same time as we are and said they should wait till they get back b/4 they adopt a dog...which I agree with too. She didn't want to call him back so she emailed him! Hopefully he'll check his emails b/4 heading out tomorrow! She is really interested in Pugs and I know there are lots of folks on disboards with pugs so any other imput would be appreicated!

Please encourage them to contact their local pug rescue organization to adopt.

Pugs are awesome with children. They are inside dogs and cannot be left outside for long periods of time. They have a predisposition for all of the typical flat faced/bug-eyed dog problems such as asthma, eye injuries, there are many more. I encourage anyone who is considering adopting a pug to do some research on the breed before adopting.

My niece breeds her pug for a little extra money. She charges $500 per dog. This may be cheap beings she's a teen???? I don't know that for a fact though, but I know she sells everyone.
