How do the prices at the Publix market compare to a place like WalMart. I am thinking of using FL tours with the grocery store stop insted of DME and having stuff delivered. I need waters, Monster Energy drinks, and maybe some fruit or other snacks.
Thank you. :thumbsup2

Publix prices are reasonable. The store layout always throws me off (did when I lived in Atlanta and shopped there too) but the prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and helpful, it's well lit, clean and the aisles are large and well stocked. You'll pay here what you're used to seeing at home at your local grocery store (Kroger, Farm Fresh, Alberstons or what have you)

My personal opinion about Walmart in general aside - the Walmart on 192 is nasty nasty. Even at 2 in the morning it is crowded, the floors are dirty, the staff is rude and unless you find the one diamond in the rough they will not help you find something. Since it's a super center the layout is also odd, and it's different from the Super Walmart elsewhere in the country because there is an entire center section of cheap Disney stuff so the rest of the store layout is different. The prices are lower yes, but for the frustration level you will have in the 'gia-normous' lines, unhelpful staff and general filth of the store you're better off at Publix paying a few more cents.

Would you be allowed to pack non perishables & water & such in a checked bag? Then you'd have an empty suitcase for suvioners on the way home and you can not worry about it at all? Do airlines let you do that? I had some packed in my checked luggage in Aug but it was a short weekend trip so not a lot.

I love Publix- I wish there was a few where I live. -But I would either got to Publix or SuperTarget at Millenia Mall

I can't stand Wal-Mart

We have both around us (many, many, many) and I will take any Publix over any Walmart, any day!!! There's no comparison:

Publix treats you like a valued customer. Walmart treats you like pond scum.

Publix Stores are bright and clean. Walmart smells like your son's tennis shoes.

Publix doesn't make you wonder why you set foot in their store; you feel like that's where you should be. Walmart makes you feel like you should have someone smack you for shopping there.

Of course my disclaimer: This is OMO :teeth:

Where is the Super Target in relation to our favorite Mouse House? All of the Super Targets I have been in are great places to shop with good prices. Is it closer than Publix? further?

It is further than Publix. It depends which Publix you are going to but it is off 535 which is close to WDW and DTD.

We usually go to the Publix on 192 near the Orange Grove (?) timeshare simply because we know where it is.

I think we tried to find that Target last year and couldn't, but did find a new(er) super Walmart. Is the Super Target easy to find and we're just idot tourists? :rotfl: We came out of Down Town Disney and took a right on 535 and kept going and going and eventually crossed Osceola Pkwy w/o seeing it. We ended up going back to the newer walmart because I was in need of some product.

Don't go to Goodies unless you want to take out a second mortgage. We were told to go there by the Rental Car place and boy were we in for sticker shock.

I would go to Publix! You're on vacation...that to me means NOT stepping foot in a Wal-Mart! I dislike Wal-Mart so much I haven't been in close to 4 years. (It helps that there are no Wal-Marts near my house, which is 5 minutes out of DC.)

When I worked at Disney, I always went to the Publix off of Vineland Road (I think that's the road?) It's back behind the Premium Outlets and the Dixie Stampede. It was always clean and reasonably priced.

Unless they closed it (and I know this is a Pub vs. WMT discussion), but there is a Winn-Dixie about 3/4 mile from Hotel Plaza Blvd.
